Newlywed woman hacks husband to death after he insists on consummating marriage
Just as more grisly details have started to emerge in the Meghalaya honeymoon murder case, another case of a woman killing her husband has come forth from Maharashtra's Sangli district where a newlywed woman allegedly hacked her husband to death for insisting on consummating the marriage.
The 27-year-old woman, identified as Radhika, allegedly killed her husband using an axe just a fortnight after their wedding.
The woman attacked her 53-year-old husband, Anil Lokhande, around 12.30 am on Wednesday after he insisted on consummating their 15-day-old marriage, police said. The woman has been arrested.
The couple resided in Kupwad tehsil of Sangli district, a police official said. It was Lokhande's second marriage as his first wife had died of cancer, he said.
Police said the woman was irked that Anil Lokhande had been constantly asking her to consummate their marriage whcih often led to a heated exchange between the two.
On early Wednesday morning, in a fit of rage, Anil Lokhande's wife 'fatally attacked her husband with an axe when he was asleep in bed,' an official from Kupwad MIDC police station said.
The woman was later arrested and booked under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, he said, adding further probe was on into the case.
Indore-based transport businessman Raja Raghuvanshi was allegedly murdered during his honeymoon trip to Meghalaya last month allegedly at the behest of his wife Sonam, as per police.
The police suspect Sonam hatched a conspiracy to murder Raja in connivance with her alleged lover. Sonam and four others have been arrested so far in connection with the murder.

Midnight ruckus in Chandigarh's Dadumajra: Six booked for brazen stone pelting, threats to public, flaunting weapons
Chandigarh Police have booked at least six youths for blocking roads, pelting stones, threatening bystanders and displaying weapons, including rods and a pistol, late-night in Dadumajra Colony on Tuesday. Based on the CCTV footage, the accused have been identified as Subhash, Ankit, Nikki, Sahil, Haseen, Batti, besides other unnamed individuals. No arrests have been made so far. 'Upon seeing the police, the boys started shouting. They issued threats and then fled the spot on their motorcycles. One of the stones hit a woman, Rani Devi, on the forehead,' stated constable Ashish in his written complaint. Devi immediately received medical treatment with the help of her family. The constables then resumed patrolling when around 12.10 am they encountered the same group again near Sheetla Mata Mandir in Sector 38-West. 'The group was again seen on motorcycles, creating a ruckus. As we tried to stop them, one of the motorcycles slipped. In the chaos, I overheard names being shouted—Subhash, Sahil, Ankit and Nikki. They were waving sticks, rods and pistol-like weapons before fleeing again,' constable Ashish added. Devi, after receiving treatment, gave a written statement, confirming that she was hit on the forehead by a stone thrown by one of the boys while returning from work. No signs of gunfire were reported at the scene. However, based on the statements, a case under Sections 115(2) (voluntarily causing hurt), 126(2) (wrongful restraint), 351(2) (criminal intimidation), 191(2) (rioting), and 190 (every member of unlawful assembly guilty of offence committed in prosecution of common object) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Sections 25, 27, 54 and 59 of the Arms Act was registered. An investigation is underway.

Google sues LATAM Airlines in U.S. over Brazilian YouTube video dispute
Google sued Chile-based LATAM Airlines in U.S. federal court on Thursday, seeking a declaration that Brazilian courts cannot force the tech giant to take down a YouTube video in the U.S. that accused a LATAM employee of sexually abusing a child. Alphabet's Google, which owns YouTube, said in the lawsuit that LATAM was attempting to "make an end-run" around protections for free speech under the U.S. Constitution by suing in Brazil to force the video's removal worldwide. "LATAM has not received any official communication about the court case," the company told Reuters. Google spokesperson Jose Castaneda said in a statement that the company has "long supported the legal principle that courts in a country have jurisdiction over content available in that country, but not over what content should be available in other countries." Right-wing social media companies Trump Media and Rumble filed a similar lawsuit in Florida in February against a Brazilian judge who had ordered them to remove the U.S.-based accounts of a leading supporter of former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro. A federal judge decided in the case that the companies were not required to comply with the order in the United States. According to Google's lawsuit filed in San Jose, California, U.S. citizen and Florida resident Raymond Moreira posted two YouTube videos in 2018 of his 6-year-old son outlining allegations of sexual abuse that the child said he experienced from a LATAM employee while traveling as an unaccompanied minor. Moreira sued LATAM in Florida in 2020 over the alleged abuse, which led to a confidential settlement. LATAM sued Google in Brazil in 2018 seeking an order to remove the video from YouTube. Brazil's highest court is set to consider next week whether it has the authority to order Google to take down the video worldwide. Google asked the court in California on Thursday to declare that LATAM cannot force the tech giant to remove the video in the United States. Canada's Supreme Court upheld an order for Google to remove some search results worldwide in a separate case in 2018. A California judge halted that order's U.S. enforcement in 2017.

Mohali: 25-year-old woman ends life after betrayal in relationship
A 25-year-old woman died by suicide in Kumbra village, Mohali, after allegedly being deceived in a relationship. The woman was found hanging in her paying guest (PG) accommodation. Police investigations revealed that she was in a relationship with a married man who had allegedly promised to marry her, but later refused, leading her to take the extreme step. The deceased, originally from Baba Bakala village in Amritsar's Beas tehsil, had been living in a PG in Kumbra for the past eight months while working various jobs in Mohali after completing her graduation degree. According to the woman's paternal uncle, she was the eldest of four daughters. A few months back, she had informed her mother about her relationship with one Sukhi and her desire to marry him. Sukhi reciprocated the intention, following which the family agreed to the marriage after mutual discussions, the uncle narrated. However, a few days before the incident, she called her mother again, revealing that Sukhi was already married and had refused to marry her. She expressed feeling devastated and claimed her life was ruined. Acting on a complaint from the woman's family, police registered a case under Section 108 (abetment to suicide) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) against the accused, Sukhi, also a resident of Kumbra village. He is currently absconding, and efforts to trace him are underway.
