Skip Bayless thinks the WNBA might be lying about Caitlin Clark's injury.
Clark, a two-time WNBA All-Star and the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 Draft, has been out with a groin injury since July 15. Clark has been progressing well in her injury, but she's yet to return to the floor. There is currently no timetable set for her return.
"No return to practice, she's been able to get a little bit more of her full-court running with all of her body weight," Fever coach Stephanie White said after practice. "It's really building up from doing minimal to building some endurance to do longer periods of time. She's been able to do a little more on the court in terms of how she moves, but not into practice shape."
Clark suffered the injury in the final minute of an 85-77 victory over the Connecticut Sun. The Fever have been playing well without her, but obviously, it's a massive blow - both to the Fever and the league as a whole - to have her sitting on the sideline.
The former Iowa Hawkeyes star has missed a total of 19 games this season.
But is Clark's injury actually worse than the Indiana Fever and the league are saying right now?
Sports media personality Skip Bayless is accusing the WNBA and the Fever of potentially lying about Clark's injury status. He thinks it might be worse than what is being said publicly.
Bayless suggested that Clark actually suffered a much worse injury that what the team is reporting on.
'Is it possible that this time, she tore her groin so badly that she's already been privately ruled out for the rest of the season, yet the league wants to keep the media and the fans in the dark about this so that people keep tuning in, figuring, 'Oh, she'll be back soon,'' Bayless suggested. 'Is that what's going on? Maybe.'

Skip Bayless Calls Cowboys to Action Following Latest NFL Trade

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. With a healthy Dak Prescott and notable roster upgrades, the Dallas Cowboys are eager to get back in the mix this season. Knowing it won't be an easy task, one analyst called out the organization when it comes to making more improvements. Heading into the 2025 campaign, the Cowboys find themselves in what could be the toughest division in football. The Philadelphia Eagles are fresh off a title win, the Washington Commanders made it all the way to the conference championship, and the New York Giants have made improvements of their own. If Dallas wants to be a competitive squad, they're going to need as much firepower as they can get their hands on. That is why Skip Bayless is urging the Cowboys to make the most of these final weeks before the action officially gets underway. More Photo by/Getty Images Skip Bayless takes aim at Cowboys following Eagles' latest trade When it comes to the NFC East, the Eagles are by far the Cowboys' biggest competition. They retained most of their title-winning core and have gotten better. On Sunday, reports emerged that the Eagles pulled off a trade with the Houston Texans for wide receiver John Metchie. Following this move, Bayless used it as an opportunity to take a shot at the Cowboys. He wants to see them follow suit and make some roster upgrades of their own. "The rich get richer," Bayless wrote on X. "Howie Roseman, the NFL's best GM, just made another smart trade, adding John Metchie to an explosive receiver corps. Meanwhile, Jonathan Mingo made the only big play of the night last night for the Cowboys - and reportedly tore up his knee. Your turn, Jerry." Your turn, Jerry. — Skip Bayless (@RealSkipBayless) August 17, 2025 Jonathan Mingo did shine in the Cowboys' preseason opener, ripping off a 49-yard reception. However, things came to a screeching halt shortly after when he had to exit the game with a knee ailment. It was later revealed that he injured his PCL and could miss multiple weeks. They brought in wide receiver George Pickens in a trade with the Pittsburgh Steelers and addressed the backfield in free agency. Only time will tell if it will be enough to keep Dallas afloat or if they'll succumb to a highly competitive NFC East. For more Dallas Cowboys and NFL news, head over to Newsweek Sports.
