Snake falls into margarita at Virginia restaurant, woman says she's traumatized
HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — It's a story you have to see to believe. One Virginia woman says she's traumatized after a snake fell from the ceiling of a Mexican restaurant in Henrico County — and into her margarita.
Carletta Andrews said it happened at the Patron Mexican Restaurant and Cantina in Sandston in the evening of April 16. In an exclusive interview with 8News Anchor Autumn Childress, Andrews shared that she and her husband had just finished their food when she felt something on her forehead.

'I leaned in to take a sip and I noticed something hit me in the forehead and I looked at my husband like, 'What was that?'' Andrews said. 'When I turned around, I saw the snake in my margarita.'
'It was moving. It started wrapping around my straw,' she said.
The rest is sort of a blur for Andrews. She recalls restaurant workers trying to remove the baby snake with a stick, but she said another customer grabbed it and released it outside.
'I kept saying, 'Please don't let it go in my purse,'' she said. 'I left shaking. I was traumatized.'
Andrews said the restaurant offered to move her to a booth, but she just wanted to leave quickly.
Still in shock, she posted the photo of the snake and a recount of what happened on social media, and the comments ranged from shock, to disbelief, and even some denial. One commenter wrote, 'The way my soul would have left my body.' Another person wrote, 'Girl, they would've been taking me to the King.'
Andrews said both she and others are surprised she handled the situation so well, but that she still wants answers.

8News reached out to the owner of the restaurant, who said he was aware of the situation. He said that the snake likely got into the restaurant through the air conditioning unit. Childress asked what precautions were now in place to prevent this from happening to another customer, to which he said, 'nothing.'
8News also reached out to the Virginia Department of Health to access previous inspections.
Records show inspectors found several violations during a routine inspection in December 2024 including mold, broken handles, missing ceiling tile in the dish room, cracked floor tiles throughout the kitchen and leaky ceiling tiles. Records show these violations were corrected during the follow-up inspection six days later.
Andrews said precautions or not, she hopes something can be done to prevent another person from leaving scarred. 'If that was the baby — I fear…. is the mom there?'

Vincent D'Onofrio teases ‘Daredevil: Born Again' Season 2 is ‘even more complex and more dangerous'
It took time for Daredevil: Born Again to figure out what kind of show it wanted to be. Stars Charlie Cox and Vincent D'Onofrio started reprising their roles as Matt Murdock/Daredevil and Wilson Fisk/Kingpin in 2021, with respective cameos in other Marvel Cinematic Universe projects like Spider-Man: No Way Home and Hawkeye. That meant working within the tones of those stories, but when the two characters finally reunited, their actors knew they needed to return to the flavor of the previous Daredevil series (which originally streamed on Netflix before moving to Disney+). 'Our jobs as actors are to service the story,' D'Onofrio tells Gold Derby during a brief break from filming Season 2 of Daredevil: Born Again. 'It's my job to match the tone of whatever they're doing, because otherwise it'll look odd. So each time I played him, we got closer to the darker aspect, which I think really suits him — like, Echo got a little more gritty [than Hawkeye]. And so then we were going to do a show that was even less dark, but we realized early on that this wasn't working, that it had to be more like the original show.' We kept the idea that it was a shared show with two leads, which is different than the Netflix show, but I think it's interesting.' D'Onofrio is right that both Fisk and Murdock each feel like protagonists of their own story in Daredevil: Born Again, and one of the show's most interesting elements is that they hardly ever interact. Cox and D'Onofrio only shared the screen a couple times in Season 1, and each time they did (such as their Heat-worthy diner conversation in the premiere episode, or the climactic moment when Murdock unexpectedly took a bullet for Fisk) there were explosive consequences. According to D'Onofrio, viewers should expect that trend to continue into Season 2. Disney/Marvel 'We're sticking to the plan where the more you put these guys together, the less interesting it is,' D'Onofrio says, echoing what Cox has also told us. 'But there are a couple of, to say the least, very intense moments between the two of them in the second season.' D'Onofrio continues, 'It's sparse, but it's intense as hell. And there's a lot for fans to look forward to in the second season because it's, how can I put this? What we're doing in the second season, when we pair up Daredevil and Fisk in scenes, is even more complex and more dangerous than they've seen before. Some of the scenes that we're having in the second season, there's been nothing like them before.' Season 1 of Daredevil: Born Again ended with both Murdock and Fisk reclaiming their roles (and signature costumes) as Daredevil and Kingpin, despite what they told each other in that diner. They've each got supporters, in the form of Daredevil's ragtag group of righteous prosecutors, fugitive vigilantes, and fearless reporters lining up against Mayor Fisk's anti-vigilante task force. This is a change from the original Daredevil series, which reset its plotlines every season. Though D'Onofrio is wary about letting spoilers out of the bag too soon, he confirms that Season 2 will build from there. 'We pick up where we left off, and things are just getting increasingly intense,' D'Onofrio says. 'At the end of the first season, he's declared martial law, and that doesn't go away. That gets even more intense, and there's a feeling of a resistance being formed with Charlie's side of the show. Aspects of that continue through the second season in very intense ways. So I really can't say much more than that, but the story continues to move forward.' The prospect of a supervillain like Kingpin successfully becoming mayor of New York City is frankly believable at a time when Donald Trump can get re-elected president after being impeached twice and Eric Adams, the real-life mayor of New York, can retain his office after being indicted by the FBI. But Fisk's power doesn't just come from his office. Why do the violent cops on his task force follow him so loyally? 'It's very clear that it's harder to be good than it is to be bad, and that makes us who we are as people,' D'Onofrio says. 'Are we willing to struggle to keep our morality? I think a lot of us are, but unfortunately, there are people that don't want to work so hard. They just want what they want, and they don't want to work for it. They just want to steal it. So I think that's what's happening. I think that his henchmen on the task force are following suit. Fisk wants to stretch his reach and they want to follow because it's easy.' But if the characters want things the easy way, the actors don't. After the creative reboot on Daredevil: Born Again got everyone in the cast and crew on the same page, they've all gone full steam ahead. 'It is a very hard show to do because you've got two very interesting main characters that live in the light and in the dark, and that's a tough script to write,' D'Onofrio says. 'So we're doing everything we need to do to struggle through them, get them right, and keep trying to do the best we can do. We're all working our butts off, the whole crew and all the actors.' D'Onofrio continues, 'We're also super lucky. We have such an amazing cast of supporting actors. I've made a career out of being a supporting actor, and it's so nice to see these young people who are supporting in our cast be such good actors and really brave and trying to do all kinds of things to make our stories more interesting. Sony Music Publishing Acquires Hipgnosis Songs Group
Sony Music Publishing has acquired Recognition Music Group's publishing and administration company Hipgnosis Songs Group, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed. The acquisition comes five years after Recognition Music Group — which used to be known as Hipgnosis Songs Fund until the company rebranded three months ago — purchased music publisher Big Deal Music in 2020, rebranding that company as Hipgnosis Songs Group shortly after. Hipgnosis Songs has stakes in hits like Alex Warren's 'Ordinary,' and Sabrina Carpenter's 'Espresso' and 'Bed Chem' among others. The publishing company is the only asset Sony acquired from Recognition. Recognition had been a major driver in the music acquisition boom of the past six years, with the company buying up catalogs from superstars like Justin Bieber, Neil Young, Mark Ronson, the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Shakira among others. Those were not part of the Sony acquisition, and Recognition still owns those catalogs. The news was first reported by Billboard. In an email addressed to Hipgnosis's songwriters, composers and clients and obtained by THR, Sony said it was acquiring Hipgnosis Songs Group 'effective immediately,' and that 'over the next few months, we will be transitioning the company to SMP's services and systems.' HBO's ‘Harry Potter' Show Casts Draco Malfoy And 8 Other Characters
Harry Potter Warner Bros revealed 9 new cast members for the upcoming Harry Potter series Monday. Draco Malfoy, his father Lucius Malfoy, the Dursley parents, Molly Weasley and several other cast members have all been announced. This follows on the heels of a number of other major casting reveals including Dominic McLaughlin as Harry Potter; Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger; Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley; John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore; Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape; Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall; Nick Frost as Rubeus Hagrid; and Paul Whitehouse as Argus Filch. Here are the latest batch of actors cast for the series: Harry Potter cast In the above image, from top left to bottom left, here are the new cast members revealed by HBO: Lox Pratt certainly has the right look for Draco Malfoy. The most surprising thing about this latest batch of casting choices is Petunia and Vernon Dursley, who are quite a lot younger and better-looking than I expected them to be. So far, the casting for the series seems pretty on-point, though obviously most of the younger cast members are relative newcomers with few acting credits. The real question is whether the show will be enough not just to rekindle an interest in the Harry Potter universe, but to light a new fire under fantasy television as a genre and enterprise. The TV format should allow for a more in-depth and faithful adaptation of the books by J.K. Rowling, but a great deal depends on its creators. All too often in recent years, adaptations have strayed much too far from the source material. The Harry Potter series is written and executive produced by Francesca Gardiner, who previously worked on Succession, His Dark Materials and Killing Eve. Killing Eve writer Laura Neal has also joined the writer's room. Mark Mylod (Succession, Game Of Thrones) will executive produce and direct multiple episodes of the series. Holly Waddington, who won an Oscar for Poor Things, has been signed on as costume designer. The show is executive produced by J.K. Rowling, Neil Blair, and Ruth Kenley-Letts of Brontë Film and TV, and David Heyman of Heyday Films. Filming on the first season begins this summer at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden, UK with a 2026 release window.
