Three teens on the run after armed break-in attempts leave Toowoomba community shaken
Maree Taylor, 76, and her 80-year-old husband David were left terrified when three masked intruders appeared outside their Joyce St home in Toowoomba, Queensland, about 9.30pm on Friday.

'How you going, miss?' one of them said, as captured on the couple's doorbell camera.
When Taylor warned she'd call the police, the trio tried to smash a window to force their way inside.
But after failing to break in, they took a photo of the house and suddenly fled.
On their way out, one of them can be heard saying, 'That's a Volkswagen,' referring to the couple's car.
'I just felt like I was going to have a heart attack. It was really scary,' Taylor told 7NEWS.
The same trio had been caught on camera trying to break into another home in Harristown just five minutes earlier.
They were seen bashing at the door with a knife.
Resident Michelle told 9News she and her partner didn't realise the group was armed until they watched the footage.
'They had a knife and yelling out they wanted the car keys,' she said.
'Quite a decent-sized knife, yeah it's just terrible and there's a few around last night unfortunately,' she said.
She told 7NEWS she barely slept that night.
It's alleged the teenagers have been travelling in a Kia Cerato hatchback with the number plate KORG43, which was reported stolen on Friday morning.
The car was allegedly taken from a home in Oakey after the owner was threatened with a knife.

A ute stolen on Friday night and torched the following morning is also believed to be linked to the group.
The Toowoomba community has been left reeling by the back-to-back incidents.
A woman living alone said she locked all her doors and kept her dog close after seeing the footage.
'Anyone else feeling nervous tonight about 2 videos of 3 men trying to break into Harristown doors in areas last 24 hours?' she wrote on social media.
Others echoed her concern.
'Honestly, yes. The police/council need to try harder to keep our community safe,' one person replied.
'I feel this too. I'm a single mum and am terrified nightly of possible break ins. I'm thankful I have cameras but still scares me badly,' another said.

This incident led to significant changes to Queensland's fireworks legislation. The carnival in Jimboomba will continue this week without pyrotechnics, the organiser confirmed on social media. 'We would like to thank everyone for their patience during our investigation of the fireworks incident, alongside RSH&Q and the fireworks contractor,' Jimboomba Family Carnival said. 'We are truly sorry this incident occurred and that it impacted some people's time at the Jimboomba Family Carnival. 'Your safety and enjoyment are always our utmost priority, and we take these matters very seriously. 'While the investigation is still ongoing and no findings have been made, for the safety of everyone we have decided to cancel the remaining fireworks displays for the duration of the Carnival. 'All other features are going on as usual and we are throwing some extra monster truck shows for free.'

Explosions from burning vehicle force evacuations in Cairns
Several explosions from a burning car have forced the evacuation of residents from a unit complex in the middle of the night. An allegedly stolen silver Hyundai 140 was abandoned in a driveway entrance in Cairns, in Far North Queensland. Residents of a nearby complex were evacuated. 'There was some damage caused at the unit complex,' Detective Inspector Kevin Garnum said. 'Residents of that complex were required to evacuate until the fire was brought under control.' No one was injured and residents returned to their homes soon after 2.20am. Witnesses told 7NEWS they were very concerned about the fire spreading but police and fire services responded quickly. 'It's a pretty scary thing at 2am in the morning,' a local resident said. 'It's usually pretty quiet around here so it is pretty strange.' The vehicle was allegedly stolen from a Woree address on the morning of August 11, police said. Fireworks launch into crowd at a Queensland festival terrorising families
A Queensland festival descended into chaos on Sunday night when a fireworks display began misfiring, with rogue fireworks launching towards terrified families in the grandstand. In footage shared on social media, children can be heard screaming and people are seen scrambling out of the way as fireworks explode in and around the crowd at the Jimboomba Family Carnival in Logan, outside of Brisbane. One man said a firework detonated just 10 metres away from him and his family while another shot into the grandstand as children began crying and families fled. A man in his 40s was struck in the leg and suffered minor burns according to 7 News. No other injuries have been reported. The fireworks display, which is now in its second year, has been cancelled for Monday evening's festival and organisers are investigating the incident. 'We have been made aware of an issue regarding the fireworks display last night,' a spokesman for the Jimboomba Family Carnival said in a statement. 'We are investigating this matter alongside our on-site first aid, the operator and all relevant authorities. 'We have cancelled [Monday night's] display to allow this investigation to take place and ensure everyone's continued safety & enjoyment of the carnival.'
