GA boy runs a mile in honor of fallen Clay Co. firefighter
Andrew Collinson is a ninth grader in Gainsville, Georgia, and on Friday night, he will be running a mile while carrying an American Flag with a red line on it to honor Smith.
Andrew is part of the Running4Heros organization that consists of seven kids in the United States that run a mile in honor of fallen first responders and post the video on social media.
' When I heard it, I was like, of course I would love to do this. I would love to run for fallen first responders who gave so much to the community and did so much for this world, in serving our world, as they went through the danger,' said Collinson. 'On the videos, they leave comments and people are like 'thank you or running for my nephew', 'thank you for running for my brother, my sister.' Stuff like that just makes my heart feel like really good, it's just like wow.'

2027 4-star OT out of Tyler, Texas has committed to Texas A&M
Texas A&M's 2027 recruiting class already includes four-star quarterback Jayce Johnson, who became the first commit in the cycle, and possesses all the traits to be the Aggies' next starting quarterback in the near future. Coach Mike Elko and his staff are on quite a heater, landing 27 commits in the 2026 class, and have now secured a commitment from one of the top offensive tackles in the 2027 class. Johnson has been the starting left tackle since his 2023 freshman season, which is a clear sign that he is destined for great things at the next level. Already a refined run blocker, utilizing his athleticism and 6'7", 300-pound frame, O-line coach Adam Cushing has continued to develop strong relationships with some of the top offensive line prospects in every cycle, resulting in six offensive line signees in the 2025 class. Right now, the future at left tackle could be 2025 five-star freshman tackle Lamont Rogers, but that is still up for debate given his position versatility. Still, knowing that senior left tackle Trey Zuhn III will be departing after the 2025 season, landing Johnson this early in the process prepares the staff for the future. Johnson's commitment continues to prove that Texas A&M remains one of the top landing spots for offensive line development. According to 247Sports, Johnson is currently positioned as the 135th-ranked prospect in the class, the 12th-ranked tackle, and the 24th-ranked prospect in Texas. Overrated or underrated? Paul Finebaum weighs in on Alabama football's preseason ranking
Alabama football is looking to bounce back following a 2024 season that saw the Crimson Tide lose four games for the first time since Nick Saban's first year in Tuscaloosa in 2007. After going 9-4 a year ago, Alabama is ranked No. 8 in both the preseason US LBM Coaches Poll and the AP Top 25 poll entering 2025. According to longtime ESPN college football voice Paul Finebaum, the Crimson Tide are underrated entering Year 2 under coach Kalen DeBoer. Finebaum joined fellow ESPN college football analyst Heather Dinich on Tuesday's edition of "Get Up" and told Dinich and host Mike Greenberg that Alabama was ranked too low. "Don't be too shocked by this, Greeny, but Ohio State is too high and Heather, calm down, Alabama is too low," Finebaum said. "I really think Alabama is a serious national championship contender." It's easy to see why Finebaum is high on Alabama. Even with a first-year starter at quarterback in Ty Simpson, the Crimson Tide return a lot of talent on both sides of the ball. Ryan Williams, Germie Bernard and Isaiah Horton lead one of the deepest wide receiver rooms in the nation. Jam Miller returns at tailback with another year of experience under his belt, and with Kadyn Proctor leading the way up front, PFF (Pro Football Focus) ranked Alabama with the best offensive line in the nation entering 2025. Alabama's defense features elite pass rushers in LT Overton and Tim Keenan, plus linebacker Deontae Lawson and a secondary that's widely seen as one of the best units in the country with cornerbacks Domani Jackson and Zabien Brown, and safeties Keon Sabb and Bray Hubbard. The Crimson Tide open the season at Florida State at Tallahassee's Doak Campbell Stadium on Aug. 30. The game is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. CT kickoff on ABC. The Seminoles are unranked in the preseason top 25 polls. Paul Finebaum calls Ohio State 'overrated' entering 2025 Finebaum expanded on his thoughts that Ryan Day's Buckeyes (No. 2 Coaches Poll, No. 3 AP) were ranked too high coming off their national championship season a year ago. "I don't get Ohio State at all, Greeny," Finebaum said Tuesday. "I know they won the national championship last year. That has nothing to do with it. They don't have the same team, and that national championship hangover is going to get to them. We'll see that in about two and a half weeks when Texas gets up there and walks out of that stadium a winner." Ohio State hosts the Texas in a No. 1 vs. No. 2 matchup on Aug. 30 in Columbus. Finebaum said recently that he believes Texas with Arch Manning at quarterback will win the national championship this season. Manny Diaz's Duke football radio show to return next week
Football season is just around the corner, and as the Duke Blue Devils prepare to return to the field, Manny Diaz's weekly radio show is set to make its return, as well. On Tuesday, Duke released the in-season dates for the Duke Football Radio Show, which will air weekly from the Washington Duke Inn & Golf Club. The first show is set for next week as Diaz will make his radio debut this season on Wednesday, Aug. 20, ahead of Week 0. The show is broadcast locally in Durham and Raleigh. Fans can tune in to WRAL News+ (96.5 FM in Durham and 99.3 FM in Raleigh) and The Buzz (620 AM and 1550 AM) to listen. Fans can also tune in by listening to Blue Devil Sports Network affiliates in North Carolina or using the Varsity Network app. The show can also be streamed via Facebook Live from the official Duke Football page. The show will be held weekly, and it will mostly air on Tuesdays after the debut show next Wednesday. For the first three weeks of November, the show will move to Wednesday before the final iteration airs on Tuesday, Nov. 25. All shows are open to the public and are scheduled for 7-8 p.m. ET.
