District Attorney: 20-year-old victim identified from serious crash in Taunton
20-year-old Richard Blanchette of Middleboro passed away from his injuries on Thursday, March 20, Bristol County District Attorney Thomas M. Quinn announced.
Blanchette was the operator of a Dodge Charger involved in a motor vehicle crash in Taunton on Tuesday, March 18.
The accident resulted in three people being transported to the hospital, with the status of the remaining two victims unknown.
Massachusetts State Police Detective Unit of the Bristol County District Attorney's Office and members of the Taunton Police Department are still investigating the cause of the accident.

Rehoboth man charged with assaulting pregnant woman who is now missing: What to know
A 22-year-old Rehoboth man has been arrested on charges that he assaulted a missing pregnant 18-year-old woman the day before she disappeared. Gregory Groom has been charged with aggravated assault and battery on a pregnant person, domestic assault and battery and intimidation of a witness for acts committed against 18-year-old Kylee Monteiro on Wednesday, Aug. 6, according to a written statement from the Bristol County District Attorney's Office on Tuesday, Aug. 19. Monteiro was last seen on Aug. 7, according to a post by the Rehoboth Police Department. Groom is currently being held without bail and will be arraigned on Wednesday morning, Aug. 20, in Taunton District Court. Bristol County State Police Detective Unit members and the Rehoboth Police Department are attempting to locate Monteiro, according to the Aug. 11 Facebook post by Rehoboth Police. Monteiro was last seen in the area of County Street in Rehoboth on Aug. 7, according to the post. She is approximately 6-feet tall with light brown hair and brown eyes and was last seen wearing a red t-shirt with "get over it" printed on the front, ripped jeans and tan boots and she may have been carrying a white bag with her belongings. The post asks anyone with information regarding her whereabouts or with surveillance video of County Street to contact Trooper Sabrina Hinchey at 508-972-1041 or Rehoboth Police Det. WCVB-TV is reporting that Monteiro's family members say she got into an argument with her boyfriend before she went missing, and that she told them she was in fear for her safety. The DA's office did not refer to Groom as Monteiro's boyfriend in the written statement, but Monteiro's family says Groom is her boyfriend, WCVB is reporting. According to WCVB, police have searched a wooded area in Rehoboth, which is where Monteiro was last seen and near where her boyfriend lives. WCVB crews saw police carrying evidence bags while searching for Monteiro, WCVB is reporting. "I'm scared, I'm really scared," Monteiro's sister, Faith Monteiro, told WCVB. "I don't know if they have her, but some part of me feels like they do." The investigation remains ongoing by Massachusetts State Police assigned to the Bristol County District Attorney's Office, Massachusetts State Police and Rehoboth Police, the DA's office said. Rehoboth man arrested, charged with assault in connection with missing pregnant teen
A 22-year-old Rehoboth man was arrested and charged in connection with the assault of a pregnant 18-year-old the day before she went missing, but it's unclear if authorities have found the teen. Gregory Groom is charged with aggravated assault and battery on a pregnant person, domestic assault and battery and intimidation of a witness for acts he is accused of committing on Aug. 6 against Kylee Monteiro, 18, the Bristol County District Attorney's Office announced Tuesday. Monteiro has been missing since Aug. 7, the day after Groom has been accused of assaulting her. The district attorney's office did not state whether Monteiro is still considered a missing person as of Tuesday, but stated the investigation continues. Groom is being held without bail and will be arraigned in Taunton District Court on Wednesday morning, the office said. The statement did not say what Groom's relationship to Monteiro is. Rehoboth Police described Monteiro — who was reported missing on Thursday, Aug. 7 — as 6 feet tall and heavyset, with light brown hair and brown eyes. Police have used dogs and drones in their search for her. A dive team searched the waterway at the Warren Upper Reservoir in Rehoboth. Dozens of drivers stopped after New Hampshire State Police conduct traffic enforcement
A traffic enforcement initiative by the New Hampshire State Police on Interstate 95 resulted in 35 drivers being stopped for excessive speeding, including two individuals driving over 120 mph. The enforcement operation took place on Sunday morning and was conducted by the NHSP Special Enforcement Unit and Troop A barracks. Over a span of three hours, troopers observed 50 motor vehicle violations, with 30 drivers traveling at speeds of 90 mph or more, and five drivers exceeding 100 mph. Among those stopped was Chloe G. Marsh, 19, from Waterboro, Maine, who was caught driving a 2022 Honda Accord at 120 mph. Marsh had two teenage passengers in the vehicle and was charged with reckless operation, endangering the welfare of a child, and driving an unregistered vehicle. She is scheduled to appear in Hampton District Court on October 16. Another driver, Carlos Yariel Perez, 20, from Salem, Massachusetts, was stopped for driving a 2016 Acura at 124 mph. Perez had a 13-month-old child in the car and was charged with reckless operation, endangering the welfare of a child, resisting arrest, and failure to yield to an emergency vehicle. He is also scheduled to appear in court on October 16. The penalties for driving at excessive speeds in New Hampshire are significant. Driving at 86 mph or greater can result in a $434 fine and a potential 30-day license suspension. Reckless driving at 100 mph or more carries a minimum fine of $620 and a 60-day license suspension, with penalties set to increase in 2026. The NHSP SEU utilizes advanced technology, including aircraft, to monitor and enforce traffic laws effectively. Their goal is to promote highway safety and reduce crashes on New Hampshire roads. 'As the summer winds down, Troopers ask drivers to slow down, put distractions away and focus on driving,' New Hampshire State Police wrote. 'They want everyone to get to their destination safely. Troopers will continue to work with their partners at the New Hampshire Office of Highway Safety to conduct focused traffic enforcement to reduce speeds, detect impaired driving, prevent serious crashes and ensure the safety of the residents and visitors to the Granite State.'
