Fresh blow to ex-MP fighting child sex charges
A former NSW Liberal MP charged with child sex offences has been arrested after allegedly breaching his bail conditions.
Former Pittwater MP Rory Amon was arrested at the Day St police station in Sydney's CBD about 10pm on Wednesday after allegedly breaching the conditions of his bail.
In a statement, NSW Police said Mr Amon had since been charged and was refused bail to appear before the Downing Centre Local Court on Thursday.
The 35-year-old pleaded not guilty earlier this year to five counts of sexual intercourse with a child aged between 10 and 14.

Mr Amon resigned from the NSW parliament within hours of being charged with the sexual assault of a 13-year-old boy in Mona Vale, North Sydney in 2017.
The charges relate to two separate alleged encounters with the boy who prosecutors alleged in documents tendered to court in March met Mr Amon on a gay hook-up app.
The first alleged incident was said to have occurred in the bathroom of an underground carpark where the 13-year-old is alleged to have performed oral sex.
The second alleged incident occurred in the same bathroom, during which police allege Mr Amon performed oral sex on the teen and attempted anal intercourse.

The documents state the boy ceased contact with Mr Amon sometime after before making disclosures to a head teacher at his school who made a report to police.
The boy resumed contact with Mr Amon years later on the app Grindr where Mr Amon allegedly sent sexual messages from multiple accounts.
Mr Amon had sought to relocate from North Sydney where he claimed to have 'faced difficulties' to Potts Point in March.
The application was dismissed by the court following evidence that the complainant feared running into Mr Amon, a circumstance the boy said could be 'personally catastrophic'.

The family of an Indigenous man who died after being detained by police at a supermarket in Alice Springs have made a desperate plea for answers, as hundreds rally in Brisbane and Sydney over deaths in custody. Right now the Northern Territory Police are undertaking a criminal investigation into Kumanjayi White's death to, in their own words, 'determine whether any criminality was involved'. 'The family has called for these investigations to be independent, but this demand has been unjustly rejected by Northern Territory Chief Minister who continues to oversee a racist agenda against the NT's Indigenous peoples. 'Despite these setbacks, the family continues to fight. 'Now that a criminal investigation is underway, the family call on the Northern Territory police officers involved to be stood down immediately. In a statement, NT Police said the Joint Emergency Services Communication Centre received reports of the altercation involving Mr White shortly after 1pm, after he allegedly placed 'items down the front of his clothing'. Police allege one of the security guards was assaulted during the ensuing altercation, before Mr White was placed on the ground by two plainclothes police officers who intervened – he lost consciousness a short time later. Initial first aid, including CPR, was provided, before police said Mr White was rushed to Alice Springs Hospital where he was pronounced deceased shortly after 2:20pm. Teh cause of death is yet to be officially determined. On Sunday, hundreds rallied across Sydney and Brisbane to 'demand justice' following Mr White's death, with earlier vigils held at Alice Springs, Melbourne, and Cairns.

Teen killed in horror island incident

Early investigations by police indicate the vehicle rolled on Birra Rd about 11pm on Saturday night. A 19-year-old Mornington Island was ejected from the car and tragically died at the scene. A second occupant, a 19-year-old Gununa man, was rushed to the Mornington Island Hospital with minor injuries. The Queensland Police Forensic Crash Unit are in investigating the incident.

Australians across the country have flocked to the streets to demand justice following the death of an Indigenous man in police custody in the Northern Territory.
