Inside the VERY extravagant wedding of son of disgraced legal heir Alex Murdaugh... as he asks for cash to renovate his new house

Daily Mail06-05-2025

The only surviving son of disgraced legal scion Alex Murdaugh has tied the knot in a lavish celebration at a former hunting estate in South Carolina - and is asking for contributions to pay for his marital home as a wedding gift.
Buster Murdaugh, 32, married his long-term girlfriend Brooklynn White, 29, in an extravagant ceremony surrounded by family and friends in the heart of the Lowcountry on Saturday May 3.
The legal dynasty heir opted for a monochrome outfit, sporting a white blazer and shirt with black pants and a bow tie.
A huge 'RMA' was emblazoned across his cumberbund, spelling out the initials of his full name Richard Alexander Murdaugh - a name he shares with his killer father.
His bride, lawyer Brooklynn, looked radiant in a white off-the-shoulder gown with a white and blue floral bouquet.
When the night fell, the bride and groom and their guests donned white cowboy hats.
The couple chose the exclusive Coosaw Point - a luxury riverside community - for their nuptials, where a 50-person wedding will set a couple back around $26,000 for the venue costs alone.
Based on Lady's Island - just minutes from downtown Beaufort and Hilton Head - the venue's website boasts amazing river views, vast green spaces and plenty of southern charm.
The couple opted for an outdoor ceremony on the lawns, followed by a reception in a huge tent decorated with beautiful blue and white florals and green tablecloths.
It's not clear how much the extravagant ceremony set the couple back but DailyMail.com has learned that mandatory costs include a $10,000 venue rental fee, $2,500 wedding coordinator fee and starting price of around $100 per person for food and drinks. The venue also charges for staffing and rental of items such as seating and linen.
Photos of the wedding show the couple also splashed out on multiple other vendors including two live bands, a wedding planner, a photographer, a florist who provided a breathtaking floral arch and a baker who created an elegant four-tier white wedding cake.
Notably absent from the nuptials were Buster's immediate family members after his father Alex notoriously murdered his mom Maggie, 52, and younger brother Paul, 24, on the wealthy family's sprawling estate in the summer of 2021.
It was June 7, 2021 when the mother and son were found shot dead by the dog kennels on the 18-acre estate at Moselle.
Alex called 911 claiming he had come home to find their bloodied bodies.
But his lies quickly unraveled.
Three months later, the powerful attorney orchestrated a botched murder-for-hire plot on himself, so that Buster would get a life insurance windfall.
Days later, he checked into rehab for a decades-long opioid addiction.
It later emerged that, days before the murders, he had been exposed for stealing millions of dollars from his law firm clients.
Alex is now behind bars serving life in prison for the brutal murders - as well as for a slew of financial crimes.
He continues to claim his innocence in his family's murders.
It was not immediately clear which of Buster's surviving family members attended his happy day.
But Buster's new wife doesn't appear to have been put off by the cursed Murdaugh family name.
Her social media shows she has already proudly taken her new husband's name, becoming Brooklynn White Murdaugh.
As part of their celebrations, the couple listed three wedding registries, asking their guests for contributions to their 'House Project Fund,' as well as a selection of homeware items to furnish it.
A choice of $85 patterned tissue box covers and a $545 Mahjong game kit feature on one of the wish lists.
None of the guests have yet opted to splurge $999.95 on a wanted Dyson Robot vacuum or a $69 bottle of 'Glam wash' laundry detergent.
The newlyweds also appear to share the Murdaugh family's love of four-legged friends, with several dog-themed items making it onto the registries.
Among the items the couple asked for from their guests was a gold-colored, hand gilded dog head coat hook retailing for $95.
A patterned wooden box with a gold dog perched on top will set one generous guest back $648.
While a bronze golden retriever lamp retailing for $415 also made the list.
Famously, it was the Murdaughs' dogs who helped nail Alex for the murders of his wife and son.
At his murder trial, a damning cellphone video of a dog was played to the court.
The video had been taken by Paul to send to his friend minutes before he was shot dead.

In the background, Alex's distinctive voice was heard yelling at the family's beloved dog Bubba who had just caught a chicken.
Unbeknown to Alex, the bombshell video proved he had lied about his alibi for that night - and crucially placed him at the crime scene at the time of the murders.
Despite the evidence, Buster stood by his father during his murder trial, attending court for every day of his six-week case.
Brooklynn was also there every day by her long-term partner's side.
When Buster took the stand to testify in his father's defense, he revealed that he was with Brooklynn when his dad called to tell him his mom and brother were dead.
Brooklynn grew up in Rock Hill, South Carolina, before attending the University of Alabama where she earned a bachelor's degree in political science, her LinkedIn shows.
She then returned to her home state to study at University of South Carolina School of Law.
She got her bar admission in 2022 and now works as an associate at Lyles & Associates law firm.
There, she specializes in construction litigation, insurance litigation, insurance coverage litigation and estate planning, according to the company website.
It is not clear where Brooklynn and Buster met but he also attended the University of South Carolina School of Law - before he was kicked out for plagiarism.
Buster comes from a long line of prominent lawyers with the Murdaugh family wielding power over the Lowcountry justice system for years.
For three generations, a Murdaugh held the powerful position as solicitor in the 14th Judicial Circuit solicitor's office.
Buster's dad Alex carried on the legal tradition working for the local prosecutor's office and at his law firm PMPED.
But the family empire came crashing down following the brutal murders of Maggie and Paul.
The slayings also shone a light on other scandals connected to the powerful family.
In 2018 - four years before the murders - the family housekeeper Gloria Satterfield died in a sudden 'trip and fall' at the Moselle estate. Alex then stole $4m from her sons in a wrongful death lawsuit settlement.
That same year, Paul was charged with causing a boat crash in which his friend Mallory Beach was killed.
And Buster's name was also linked to the death of 19-year-old Stephen Smith.
In July 2015, Smith was found dead from blunt force trauma to the head on a road in Hampton County.
His death was ruled a hit-and-run at the time but Smith's mom Sandy has never accepted this conclusion.
There was no debris or skid marks pointing to a collision and she has long suspected Smith was killed as a hate crime because he was gay.
In a bombshell 2016 letter to the FBI, Sandy begged the bureau to look into Buster as a suspect in his murder.
The two young men had been classmates at school and rumors had long swirled through the Lowcountry that they had been in a relationship.
Just two weeks after Maggie and Paul's murders, the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division opened a new investigation into Smith's death.
His death was later ruled a homicide.
Buster has never been charged in connection to the case.
He finally broke his silence over the allegations in an interview for a FOX Nation documentary in the fall of 2023, blasting the rumors and denying any involvement in his murder.
He also denied ever having 'anything to do with [Smith] on a physical level in any regard.'
The interview also marked his first and only comments to date - other than on the witness stand - about his mom and brother's murders at his dad's hands.
Buster insisted - many months on from Alex's conviction - that he still believed his dad was innocent.
It is unclear if the father and son are still in contact today - or if Murdaugh, who owes millions of dollars to his financial crime victims, picked out a gift for the new bride and groom.

What to know about Harvey Weinstein's conviction on a top sex crimes charge at his #MeToo retrial

Harvey Weinstein has been found guilty again, convicted Wednesday of a top sex crimes charge at his #MeToo retrial in New York City. The mixed and partial verdict came more than five years after his first conviction, which an appeals court overturned last year. The jury returned a verdict on two of three charges against Weinstein, acquitting him of one. Jurors indicated that they had yet to achieve unanimity on the final count. That could mean more deliberations on Thursday. The verdict capped an extraordinary fifth day of deliberations. The jury foreperson complained that he was being bullied by other jurors. Weinstein's lawyer then asked for a mistrial, and Weinstein himself addressed the judge without jurors in the courtroom, imploring him to end the case without a verdict. Minutes later, the jury of seven women and five men declared the ailing 73-year-old guilty of one count of criminal sex act, which carries a maximum sentence of 25 years in prison. Weinstein denies raping or sexually assaulting anyone. Once he's sentenced, he can appeal. Here's what you need to know about the verdict: What was Weinstein convicted of? Jurors convicted Weinstein of one count of criminal sex act, finding that he forcibly performed oral sex on a TV and movie producer and production assistant, Miriam Haley, nearly two decades ago. Haley, who had a short stint working on the Weinstein-produced 'Project Runway,' testified that he assaulted her in July 2006 after inviting her to stop by his SoHo apartment before a flight his company booked her on the next day to Los Angeles to attend a movie premiere. Haley testified that Weinstein backed her into a bedroom, pushed her onto a bed and forced oral sex on her, undeterred by her kicks and pleas of, 'No, no — it's not going to happen.' Weinstein was convicted of the same charge at his first trial. Haley, who has also gone by the name Mimi Haleyi, told jurors that she was never interested in any sexual or romantic relationship with Weinstein but still wanted his help professionally. She acknowledged she kept in touch and exchanged warm messages with him and accepted an invitation to his hotel room two weeks after the alleged assault, when she said he pulled her into bed for sex. What was Weinstein acquitted of? Weinstein acquitted of a charge of criminal sex act relating to a previously uncharged allegation that he forced oral sex on Kaja (KEYE'-ah) Sokola, a psychologist and former Polish model and actor, at a Manhattan hotel in 2006 just before her 20th birthday. Sokola, who wasn't a part of Weinstein's first trial, testified that Weinstein assaulted her after luring her to his hotel room by telling her had a script to show her. As he pushed her onto a bed, stripped off her boots, her stockings and her underwear, 'my soul was removed from me," she said. Now 39, Sokola said he held her down while ignoring her pleas of 'please don't, please stop, I don't want this.' She said she tried to push him away but was no match against the much larger Weinstein. Sokola also testified that Weinstein sexually assaulted her when she was 16 years old, but that allegation was beyond legal time limits for a potential criminal charge. Sokola said she stayed in touch with Weinstein because she had dreams of an acting career. She went to authorities in January 2020, a few days into Weinstein's first trial. Prosecutors halted their investigation after Weinstein was convicted, but revived it when the verdict was thrown out last year. What charge hasn't been decided yet? The jury hasn't reached a verdict on a third-degree rape charge involving Jessica Mann's allegation that Weinstein assaulted her in March 2013. Mann, a cosmetologist and hairstylist, said she met Weinstein at a party in late 2012 or early 2013, when she was 27 and trying to launch an acting career. She alleges Weinstein trapped her in a Manhattan hotel room, demanded that she undress as he loomed over her, grabbed her arms and raped her after, she believes, he injected himself with an erection-promoting drug that she later found in the bathroom trash. Mann said she had a consensual, on-and-off relationship with the then-married Weinstein, but that he was volatile and violated her if she refused him. She said she kept in touch with Weinstein after the alleged rape, telling jurors she 'compartmentalized the part of Harvey that was hurting me,' and that flattery and friendliness 'kept the peace.' The Associated Press generally does not name sexual assault accusers without their permission, which Haley, Mann and Sokola have given. Why was there a new trial? New York's highest court, the Court of Appeals, threw out Weinstein's conviction in April 2024. In a 4-3 decision, the court said the judge in the first trial, James Burke, denied Weinstein a fair trial by letting three women testify about allegations that didn't result in charges and by deciding that prosecutors could confront Weinstein, if he testified, about stories of him behaving brutishly. The court labeled the allegations against Weinstein 'appalling, shameful, repulsive conduct' but warned that 'destroying a defendant's character under the guise of prosecutorial need' did not justify some trial evidence and testimony. Burke's term expired at the end of 2022, and he is no longer a judge. Prosecutors were not allowed to retry Weinstein on charges that he was acquitted of during his first trial, including predatory sexual assault and one count of first-degree rape. What about Weinstein's other criminal case? Weinstein is appealing his conviction in Los Angeles in a similar case in 2022. Jurors there found him guilty of three of seven charges, including rape, and he was sentenced to 16 years in prison. Weinstein's lawyers argued he did not get a fair trial. They contend that the judge in the California case wrongly allowed jurors to know about Weinstein's 2020 New York conviction, and that the jury was unfairly prejudiced by testimony from women about alleged assaults Weinstein was not charged with. __ Associated Press journalists Ruth Brown and Philip Marcelo contributed to this report.

BREAKING NEWS Travis Decker manhunt continues in remote Washington mountain trail as police vow to 'not give up'

The manhunt for killer dad Travis Decker continues, Washington State cops said today – despite raising hopes of a swift end to the search last night. Decker has been on the lam for 12 days and is charged with three counts of aggravated murder after the bodies of his three daughters Paityn, nine, Evelyn, eight, and Olivia, five, were found at a woodland campsite on June 2. Chalon County Sheriff Mike Morrison said during the press conference the search will continue with the help of Border Patrol and they will 'not give up' on the search for Decker. He did, however, say 'tactics would change' and warned that all it would take would be 'one mistake' for him to be caught. Former soldier Decker has spent the past two weeks hiding out in the Wenatchee Mountains – a rugged stretch of peaks that stretch for 50 miles across central Washington State. Exclusive Daily Mail photos show exactly how challenging the search has been, with thick forest and soaring peaks of up to 9,500ft dominating the area. Complicating the search is the fact that Decker, a former soldier, knows the area intimately and has ample experience of living rough – once spending two months living off grid in the backwoods. Photos released by the Chalon County Sheriff's Office show searchers battling through the mountainous terrain – with cops pictured searching the snowy flanks of Mount Stuart and being choppered to mountain meadows hundreds of feet above the valley floor. Until Monday, Decker had not been seen since vanishing with the three children following a scheduled custody visit on May 30. Their mother Whitney, 35, called the cops after he failed to return with the girls and could not be reached by phone. Chelan County Sheriff's Office deputies found the girls' bodies about 75 to 100 yards from Decker's truck at a campsite. Police believe the girls died from asphyxiation and reported that their wrists were zip-tied, court documents said Three days later, the children were found suffocated at the remote Rock Island Campground near Leavenworth, with plastic bags over their heads and bound with zip ties. Police said Decker's 2017 GMC truck was also found at the scene and had two bloody handprints on the back gate. Shortly after, a no-bail arrest warrant was issued for Decker, charging him with three counts of first-degree murder and three counts of kidnapping. On Monday, cops revealed they were finally closing in on the alleged killer, saying in a statement that a tip from a hiker had led to a breakthrough. 'Our office recently received a tip from a hiking party who stated they spotted a lone hiker in the Enchantments area who appeared to be ill-prepared for trail and weather conditions and appeared to be avoiding others,' the statement said. 'Tracking teams immediately acted upon the information and spotted a lone, off-trail hiker from a helicopter near Colchuck Lake who ran from sight as the helicopter passed.' An alert was later issued to residents in the Ingalls Creek and the Valley High communities – warning them to lock up their homes and vehicles and be on the lookout for Decker. 'Residents and visitors are urged to secure homes and vehicles, remain vigilant, and report any suspicious activity to 911,' an alert said. 'A heightened law enforcement presence will persist as a precautionary measure.' That alert was lifted Wednesday morning at 11.30am, while the police presence in the area was noticeably diminished when the Daily Mail visited the same day. A plane that cops had been using to scour the area had also departed – traveling to an airport in state capital Olympia, a three-hour flight away. The bearded dad-of-three is a former soldier who joined the Army 2013. He served in Afghanistan before transferring to the Washington National Guard in 2021. He was a full-time member of the Guard until 2023 or 2024, when he switched to part-time. Decker stopped attending mandatory monthly drills a little over a year ago, and the Guard was in the process of a disciplinary discharge. According to ex-wife Whitney, he has been suffering from mental health issues in recent years and was diagnosed with borderline personality disorder. Still, Whitney told police she didn't believe Decker was dangerous and said he loved his daughters. She said the girls had a 'good relationship with Decker and enjoy their time with him,' and noted that he had never failed to return the girls before, according to a police affidavit. Whitney added that when Decker went to pick up the girls for the visit on Friday, he was 'quieter than usual' which was 'out of character' for him. He had also allegedly been talking about getting rid of his dog due to housing and financial struggles. Speaking exclusively to the Daily Mail in an interview published earlier today, Decker's older brother Thomas said the alleged killer is not the man he knew – and saw just a week before the murders. 'The guy on the wanted poster for murdering my three nieces is not the brother I know,' said Thomas. 'I can't even comprehend what is going on. 'I am in complete shock that he would do something like this. He loves his daughters – at least I thought he did. And Whitney is devastated beyond belief.'
