Ex-Arsenal star Thomas Partey charged with five counts of rape against two women and sexually assaulting a third
The Ghanaian international is also accused of sexually assaulting a third woman.

Partey, 32, allegedly carried out the offences between 2021 and 2022, the Met
Police
confirmed.
He will appear at Westminster Magistrates'
Court
on August 5.
It comes as Partey's contract with
Arsenal
ended on June 30 and was not renewed - making him a free agent.
The allegations relate to three separate women.

He is accused of three counts of rape against one of the alleged victims and two against a second.
Partey is also charged with one count of sexual assault against the third complainant.
A probe into the defensive midfielder was launched in February 2022 after officers first received a report of rape.
Detective Superintendent Andy Furphy, whose team is leading the
investigation
, said: 'Our priority remains providing support to the women who have come forward."

At least 45 injured in Rome petrol station explosion
At least 45 people have been injured in a huge explosion at a petrol station in Rome, according to Italian authorities. They include 12 police officers and six firefighters. The blast happened at the distributor of petrol, diesel and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) in the city's eastern neighbourhood of Prenestino just after 8am (7am Irish time). The injured are being treated in local hospitals, Italian news agencies reported, with two in a critical condition due to extensive burns and needing ventilation support. Website Roma Today published a photograph of a huge ball of flame and smoke rising high into the sky. Separate images released by the fire department showed the petrol station almost gutted. "I pray for the people involved in the explosion of a gas station (...) in the heart of my Diocese.
