PSNI seize knife and drugs from Glider passenger in west Belfast
A spokesperson for the PSNI said officers from the Safe Transport Team had been conducting patrols on board the Glider network.
"During our patrols many people commented how they were pleased to see Police on board services due to ongoing anti social behaviour concerns,' they said.
'Whilst on board, officers detained one male passenger for a search and located a small quantity of Class B Drugs and more concerningly, a flick knife.
"The dangers of carrying a knife are self explanatory and can some times lead to tragic consequences. The male will now be investigated for these offences.'
It comes after Infrastructure Minister Liz Kimmins outlined plans in February to extend the Glider service to north and south Belfast.
As part of the development, there will be more 'bus priority measures' in the city.
And there is anger after two elements of the scheme were dropped for now, with plans to run the Glider to Carryduff, and separately to Glengormley, not proceeding.
The full scheme will not be completed until 2030 at the earliest.
The Glider service of tram-like buses opened in September 2018.
It currently runs from the McKinstry roundabout in west Belfast to Dundonald park-and-ride in east Belfast via the city centre.
A second line connects the city centre to the Titanic Quarter.
Ms Kimmins said the Glider 'has been a huge success' and has helped transform and modernise public transport services in east and west Belfast.
She said extending the service to the north and south will bring 'the benefits of the Glider service to communities living along this route'.
But there was anger after plans to extend the service beyond Cairnshill Park and Ride to Carryduff, and separately to Glengormley, were dropped.
Ms Kimmins said that funding and feasibility studies led her to conclude "that any extension of the Glider service beyond Cairnshill Road Park and Ride towards Carryduff is not economically viable at this time but will be re-examined when further development along this route is realised'.
She also said that 'significant congestion within Glengormley', as well as the pending public realm scheme and limited funding 'make it challenging to extend the service into Glengormley'.

Robert Kincaid, from the Tullycarnet area, was due to arrive in Dublin on the evening of July 17, but never boarded his flight. The 38-year-old oil rig worker was returning from a stint working at a west African site in Benin and was set to board his connecting flight from Charles De Gaulle airport in Paris. Louis Kincaid, Robert's brother, said that he had also previously worked in central Africa. 'The Foreign Office has organised someone to meet us, it's someone in the airport,' said Louis. 'They're going to help us with translation, and we're going to file an official missing persons report in Paris, and then we're just going to be going about, putting posters all around places.' Louis added: 'He doesn't have any contacts in France, but he is a very sociable person, he would make friends with anyone.' He explained that his family is growing increasingly worried as time goes on. Louis said: 'They're holding together, it's just the unknown. 'Mum's not really sleeping at the moment. It is starting to get to her as the days go on.'

Suspect in fatal shooting of mother and her two children in Northern Ireland dies in hospital
The suspect in the fatal shooting of a mother and her two children in Northern Ireland has died. Ian Rutledge, a 43-year-old agricultural worker, had himself suffered a gunshot wound during the attack in the village of Maguiresbridge in County Fermanagh on Wednesday morning. He was taken to hospital where he remained in a serious condition until the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) announced he had died on Monday evening. It is understood he was the only suspect in the murder investigation. Vanessa Whyte, 45, a vet originally from County Clare, her son James, 14, and daughter Sara, 13, were all shot dead at a property on Drummeer Road during the attack. They have asked anyone who saw a silver Mercedes saloon car being driven in the Clones Road area of Newtownbutler, or between Maguiresbridge and Newtownbutler, on the evening of Tuesday 22 July to call detectives on 101. Tributes paid to 'lovely-natured' children A local Gaelic football club said last week that Ms White and her children were all "active and beloved" members of their club. Sara and James Rutledge also used to be part of a local cricket club, which said in a statement that it was "extremely saddened by the tragic events". "Both of them turned out to be talented young cricketers and two absolutely lovely-natured children," the statement read. Flowers, teddy bears and an Arsenal football top with written notes were laid close to scene of the incident in Drummeer Road in the days after the shooting.
