George Kittle, tight end for the San Francisco 49ers, has been in the spotlight for two major reasons lately. First, George Kittle joked that he was going to ruin the aspirations of children who dream about the position he plays and in the second instance, he laughed out loud about the rules against using smelling salts.
Both comments were made during the podcast hosted by former cornerback Richard Sherman, which was recorded in early August of 2025. George Kittle, starting his ninth NFL season, has indicated that he has not declined yet. And notably, although he is 31, he specifically stated he could still play at or above that level-at 31.
George Kittle wants to stop young players from taking his spot
During an episode of The Richard Sherman Podcast, released on August 5, 2025, George Kittle said,
'There are hundreds of thousands of kids who want to be the starting tight end for the 49ers.
It's my job to ruin all of their dreams.'
George Kittle laughed as he spoke but made it clear he was serious about staying in the NFL. He even added,
'Basically, f*** them kids,'
before quickly apologizing for his words:
'Excuse my language, everybody.'
The podcast was filmed in Santa Clara, California, where the San Francisco 49ers are holding their training camp. His comments show just how much he still loves playing and competing at the highest level.

George Kittle reacts to the NFL's smelling salt ban
Just days before the podcast, the NFL sent a memo on August 2, 2025, telling teams they can no longer give players smelling salts or ammonia inhalants. This rule was made after the FDA warned that such products can hide signs of concussions.
George Kittle was clearly upset by this and joked,
'I've been distraught all day. I considered retirement.'
He then asked for help finding a replacement method:
'Somebody help me out. Come up with a good idea.'
On August 6, the NFL Players Association said players can still bring their own salts, teams just can't supply them anymore. George Kittle, who uses them before every drive, will now have to adjust.

"Kansas City, the dynasty part is over": Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes hit with brutal 2025 prediction as Colin Cowherd slams Chiefs dominance

Colin Cowherd boldly declares the Chiefs dynasty dead (Getty Images) The Kansas City Chiefs are ready to bring the Super Bowl back home after last year's defeat against the Eagles. However, questions loom over their future as a dominant force. Despite entering the year as one of the Super Bowl favorites, the whispers have grown louder- especially after a humbling Super Bowl loss. Sports commentator Colin Cowherd has now added fuel to that fire, declaring, 'I think Kansas City, the dynasty part is over. They may win a Super Bowl, but I think their division's too good to be a dynasty.' But can a team with Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid truly be counted out? AFC West no longer the Chiefs' playground Colin Cowherd's comments weren't just headline-chasing. He painted a compelling picture on his show, comparing the Chiefs' run to Nick Saban's dominant stretch at Alabama. 'When Nick Saban was at Alabama, LSU couldn't get the right coach... Tennessee couldn't get the right coach, and he dominated,' Cowherd said. But as rivals got stronger, Alabama's edge dulled. That's what he believes is happening in the AFC West. For years, Kansas City capitalized on a division filled with coaching inconsistencies and rebuilding franchises. But the landscape is changing fast. The Denver Broncos are revitalized under Sean Payton, with rookie QB Bo Nix bringing hope. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like The Most Beautiful Women In The World Undo The Chargers are finally in competent hands with Jim Harbaugh, and even the often-chaotic Raiders seem to be stabilizing under Pete Carroll. In other words, the Chiefs haven't fallen off a cliff—but the competition has risen to meet them. For years, Kansas City capitalized on a division filled with coaching inconsistencies and rebuilding franchises. But the landscape is shifting rapidly. 'Denver is going to be noticeably better. The Raiders are going to be significantly better,' Cowherd said, before pointing to Jim Harbaugh's influence on the Chargers: 'Year one, he changes the culture. Year two, he changes the personnel.' With multiple experts even picking the Chargers to go all the way, the division is no longer the soft landing it once was for Kansas City. Chiefs face new season with uncertainty and aging core Despite having the league's most transcendent quarterback in Patrick Mahomes and a coaching genius in Andy Reid, the Chiefs aren't immune to time. Travis Kelce , a pillar of their offense, is 35 and showed signs of slowing last season. Rashee Rice may start the season suspended, leaving holes in the receiving corps. Chris Jones is still elite but is 31, and Reid's future feels increasingly uncertain. The margin for error is narrowing, and unlike previous seasons, Kansas City may no longer benefit from easy division titles or playoff byes. The regular season now feels more like a gauntlet than a formality. The Chiefs kick off their campaign with a preseason matchup against the Arizona Cardinals, but the true litmus test will come in Week 1 against Harbaugh's Chargers in São Paulo, Brazil. Then comes a Super Bowl rematch with the Eagles in Week 2—an early chance to silence critics or confirm Cowherd's bold prediction. The dynasty may not be dead, but it's certainly under threat. What is the 'Tush Push Play'? All on the 'nearly banned' NFL tactic Eagles used to beat Bengals

The Philadelphia Eagles won 34-27 in Thursday's (August 7) game against the Cincinnati Bengals using a technique all too familiar to the team. The 'tush push' was used by the Eagles soon into play, starting and has a controversial history attached to it. Tanner McKee, backup QB in the regular season, pushed in for the score on a fourth-and-goal from the Bengals' 1-yard line late in the first quarter. As per Jeff Kerr of CBS Sports, 'The 'Tush Push' has been the signature play of the Eagles' run over the last three seasons, which has resulted in a Super Bowl victory, two Super Bowl appearances, and 39 regular-season wins.' Further explaining the play strategy, he writes, 'In the 'Tush Push,' the quarterback is pushed forward through the defensive line by players behind him. The running back and the tight end are lined up behind the quarterback and push the quarterback through the defensive line. The play is used in short-yardage and goal-line situations and has a very high success rate.' Attempts to ban Given the rough nature and lack of player ability involved in the move, several league owners, in particular the Green Bay Packers, have actively tried to get the move banned. According to AP News, a proposal to ban the move failed by two votes in a recent May poll. The meeting was held in Minnesota and garnered a 22-10 vote in favor of banning the move. League laws, however, require a three-fourths majority to change game rules. The Packers had originally brought forward the proposal in the offseason and were subsequently supported by health and safety committees for both the players and the owners and the league's competition committee. Such a ban had existed two decades ago but was lifted due to inefficiency in consistent implementation. Despite all attempts, the tush push play remains legal in the NFL as of now. Aaron Rodgers snubs former teammates in ‘perfect' wide receiver picks, shocks fans with unexpected choice

Aaron Rodgers recently unveiled his vision of the 'perfect' wide receiver (Imagn Images) After more than two decades in the NFL, Aaron Rodgers has thrown passes to some of the league's most talented wide receivers. From his Green Bay Packers days with Davante Adams and Jordy Nelson to his recent time with the Jets and now the Pittsburgh Steelers, the veteran quarterback has been surrounded by skill and star power. Aaron Rodgers' dream wideout blends speed, size, hands, high-point ability, and football IQ When Rodgers was recently asked by CBS Sports' Bryant McFadden to create his 'perfect' receiver using attributes from players across NFL history, some of his choices — and omissions — caught fans off guard. Breaking down the receiver position into five categories, Rodgers picked Randy Moss for high-point ability, citing the Hall of Famer's unmatched dominance in contested catches. For speed, he turned to Julio Jones, praising the rare blend of size and acceleration that made Jones a nightmare for defenders in his prime. Aaron Rodgers on Steelers Culture, DK Metcalf, '05 Draft Class, and Beating Every NFL Team! 🏈 Rodgers gave the 'hands' category to Jordy Nelson, his longtime Packers teammate whose reliability and chemistry with the quarterback were legendary in Green Bay. For football IQ, he went with Davante Adams, a player Rodgers has often described as one of the smartest route runners he has ever worked with. The biggest surprise? For size, Rodgers chose his current Steelers teammate DK Metcalf — even though they haven't played a regular-season game together yet. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Villas For Sale in Dubai Might Surprise You Dubai villas | search ads Get Deals Undo That pick has Steelers fans buzzing about what this new quarterback-receiver pairing could mean in 2025. Notable omissions spark conversation about loyalty and projection While Rodgers' selections make sense from a pure skills standpoint, the absence of former teammates like Randall Cobb and Allen Lazard has raised eyebrows. Both played significant roles in Rodgers' career, yet the quarterback opted for Metcalf — someone he's just getting to know on the field — over receivers with years of shared history. It's a choice that could signal Rodgers' high expectations for his new connection with Metcalf. If their chemistry clicks, the duo could quickly become one of the most dangerous tandems in the league.
