Manchester City Record-Breakers Again! Sign Unseen £1 Billion Kit Deal With Puma
Manchester City extended their kit deal with Puma in a record £1 billion agreement, the most lucrative in Premier League history.
Manchester City have announced a long-term extension of their kit partnership with German sportswear giant Puma, in a deal that British media reports value at approximately £1 billion ($1.35 billion) — the most lucrative kit contract in Premier League history.
The new agreement will reportedly run for at least 10 years, earning City around £100 million per year. That figure marks a significant increase from their previous contract with Puma, signed in 2019, which was worth £65 million annually.
This record-breaking deal is expected to set a new standard for kit manufacturer agreements among English clubs, overtaking Manchester United's 10-year, £900 million deal with Adidas, which was finalized in 2023.
Manchester City's recent dominance has undoubtedly played a role in the staggering value of the new agreement. Since 2020, the club has captured four consecutive Premier League titles and celebrated a historic treble — winning the Premier League, FA Cup, and Champions League — during the 2022–23 season.
While City fell short of major silverware last season, their sustained excellence and global appeal have made them one of the most marketable football brands in the world.
Guardiola's City fell short of winning the Premier League for the fifth time in a row, finishing third in the English top-flight. They also failed to reach the Champions League's round of 16, being eliminated by Real Madrid in the knockout phase playoffs.
And as the final insult to injury, in a huge upset, Saudi Pro League side Al Hilal defeated Manchester City to knock the title favourites out of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup as well.
Looking ahead, City will kick off their 2025–26 Premier League campaign with an away fixture against Wolverhampton Wanderers on August 16.

US Education Dept to release remaining withheld grant money for schools
President Donald Trump's administration had withheld more than $6 billion in funding on July 1, as part of a review to ensure spending aligned with the White House's priorities AP Washington The Trump administration is releasing billions of dollars in grants to schools for adult literacy, English language instruction and other programmes, the Education Department said Friday. President Donald Trump's administration had withheld more than $6 billion in funding on July 1, as part of a review to ensure spending aligned with the White House's priorities. The funding freeze had been challenged by several lawsuits as educators, Congress members from both parties and others called for the administration to release money schools rely on for a wide range of programmes. Congress had appropriated the money in a bill signed this year by Trump. Last week, the Education Department said it would release $1.3 billion of the money for after-school and summer programming. Without the money, school districts and non-profits such as the YMCA and Boys and Girls Club of America had said they would have to close or scale back educational offerings this fall. The release of that money came days after 10 Republican senators sent a letter imploring the administration to allow frozen education money to be sent to states. Those senators had also called for the rest of the money to be distributed, including funds for adult education and teaching English as a second language. The Education Department said Friday the Office of Management and Budget had completed its review of the programmes and will begin sending the money to states next week. US Sen Shelley Moore Capito, R-W Va, was among the Congress members calling for the release of the grants. The programmes are ones that enjoy longstanding, bipartisan support, she said. She pointed to after-school and summer programs that allow parents to work while their children learn and classes that help adults gain new skills contributing to local economies. In withholding the funds, the Office of Management and Budget had said some of the programmes supported a radical leftwing agenda. We share your concern, the GOP senators had written. However, we do not believe that is happening with these funds. School superintendents had warned they would have to eliminate academic services without the money. On Friday, AASA, an association of superintendents, thanked members of Congress for pressing to release the money. Donald Trump lands in Scotland for talks with UK PM Starmer, EU chief von der Leyen-- and a round of golf
Braving the cold winds and overlooking the stormy steel-grey waters of the North Sea, the stunning sand dunes along Scotland's northeastern coast remain one of Donald Trump's most cherished places. As reported by AP, during his 2023 civil fraud trial in New York, Trump spoke fondly of his property in Balmedie, Aberdeenshire, saying, 'At some point, maybe in my very old age, I'll go there and do the most beautiful thing you've ever seen.' Trump arrived in Scotland on Friday as preparations wrap up for the August 13 opening of a new golf course that will carry his name. According to a report by AP, White House spokesperson Taylor Rogers described Trump's visit to Scotland as a 'working trip,' emphasising the president's pride in his golf empire. 'He has built the best and most beautiful world-class golf courses anywhere in the world,' she said, 'which is why they continue to be used for prestigious tournaments and by the most elite players in the sport.' However, Trump's existing golf course in Aberdeenshire has faced a bumpy history, nearly as rough as the surrounding cliffs. The course has struggled financially and was found by Scottish environmental authorities to have caused partial destruction to protected sand dunes. Additionally, Trump's company lost a legal battle attempting to block a nearby wind farm, claiming it would ruin the view for golfers. The court ordered the company to pay the Scottish government's legal fees. Trump is in Scotland for bilateral talks that could yield a trade deal with the European Union. Trump told reporters upon his arrival that he will visit his two golf properties in Scotland and meet with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, whom he called a 'highly respected woman.' Trump further said it 'would be the biggest deal of them all if we make it'. According to a report by The Guardian, when asked about a trade deal with the EU, he said, 'I would say that we have a 50/50 chance, maybe less than that … I would have said we had a 25% chance with Japan, and they kept coming back and we made a deal.' Although Trump didn't directly connect trade talks to other issues on Friday, he indicated plans to address migration concerns. Since returning to office, Trump has enforced tough anti-immigration policies, including a large-scale deportation campaign targeting undocumented individuals and tightening legal pathways for entering the U.S. (With inputs from agencies)

'Rekindled Flame?': Rashford Back With Former Fiancee As Englishman Looks To Revive Career At Barca
Last Updated: Rashford's former fiancée, Lucia Loi, was present alongside the 27-year-old Englishman during the photoshoot ahead of his official announcement as a Barca player. Marcus Rashford has reportedly rekindled his relationship with childhood sweetheart Lucia Loi amid his switch to Spanish side Barcelona FC. Rashford's former fiancée, Loi, was present alongside the 27-year-old Englishman during the photoshoot ahead of his official announcement as a Barca player. The duo had reportedly broken their romance a couple of years ago, but with Loi being present at the player's confirmation as a Blaugrana player, on loan from Manchester United, has sparked rumours of a reignited flame. The English forward switched to Spanish champions Barcelona from Premier League side Manchester United on Wednesday on a loan deal. The clubs agreed on the loan until 30 June 2026. Rashford's position at United declined since December 2024, leading to a loan to fellow PL side Aston Villa for the latter half of the previous season. The Englishman scored 4 goals in 17 appearances for the Villans. Excluded from United's pre-season squad, Rashford was instructed to seek new opportunities.
