Did you fall for this viral AI video? Green Bay YouTuber breaks down latest social media trend

Social media has been swarmed with videos of animals finding trampolines and bouncing on them. There's one problem: Most of them are not real, they were made using artificial intelligence. A video of a group of bunnies bouncing on a trampoline on surveillance footage went viral on TikTok, reaching over 200 million views and over 25 million likes. Jeremy Carrasco, an AI consultant and a Green Bay resident, took to his YouTube channel, showtoolsai, to breakdown the viral trend. If you pay attention to the bunny video, you can see some of them disappearing and reappearing from the clip. Carrasco explained in a YouTube video that quadrupeds, animals who have four legs, struggle on trampolines. He backed this up with real videos of a coyote and a dog on a trampoline, in which the dog was only able to get a few bounces in before stopping. There were also AI videos of bears jumping on a trampoline, in which Carrasco broke down the flaws in that footage. Carrasco previously worked at the LiveX studio in Green Bay, before turning to focus more on AI literacy. His YouTube channel has over 500 subscribers and has various videos on how to spot AI images and how the tool is changing the media. "At LiveX, I would do educational content. I always knew I had a bit of a knack for explaining technically advanced things to normal people," Carrasco told the Green Bay Press-Gazette. Carrasco also talked about the misconception of people being "tricked" by an AI video. He said people shouldn't feel less intelligent when they believe something from an AI video, like the animal trampoline ones. "If it's just a casual video like bunnies on the trampoline, there's not that much harm done. If it's kind of a fun aesthetic, it makes (you) feel happy, so a lot of people just didn't mind," he said. "If it fits a certain aesthetic and hits a certain chord, you're less likely to just ask if something is real." Carrasco said he is excited to continue following these viral video trends, as he believes the best way to hook people is to show them a video they thought was real in order to explain why it's not. He also recommends people to question whether they trust these sources when it comes to identifying whether a video is using AI. Rashad Alexander can be contacted at ralexander@ and 920-431-8214. Jim Acosta sparks fury with ‘interview' of dead Parkland teen's AI avatar

The independent journalist Jim Acosta sparked an intense backlash this week with what he called a 'one of a kind interview': A video of him talking with an AI-generated avatar modeled on Joaquin Oliver, a teenager killed in the Parkland high school shooting in 2018. The video, which the former CNN White House correspondent posted Monday to his Substack newsletter, began with Acosta making small talk about LeBron James and 'Star Wars' with the late teenager's AI duplicate, which Oliver's father created to bring attention to gun violence.
