[UPDATED]: Government seeks to nurture 'Madani citizens'
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, during the tabling of the 13MP in the Dewan Rakyat today, said values of ethics, spirituality and humanity — rooted in Maqasid Syariah and a spirit of patriotism — will continue to be strengthened as the foundation for shaping Madani citizens who are guided by principles, grounded in identity, and noble in character.
According to the plan, this will be achieved through education reforms, compulsory preschool at age 5, and programmes that instil patriotism, civic responsibility, and volunteerism.
Programmes on patriotism, volunteerism and national unity will also be expanded to cultivate a society that is tolerant, caring and socially responsible.
Anwar said programmes such as Kembara Perpaduan Malaysia would be continued to foster unity across diverse communities through values-based education and open intercultural dialogue.
"The government will also introduce the 'Piagam Harmoni Malaysia' as a main guide for interfaith and inter-ethnic relations, while reforming the National Service Training Programme to align with current needs.
"National identity will be strengthened not through coercion, but through understanding and a spirit of togetherness," he added.
The plan also highlights initiatives to strengthen civic awareness, expand opportunities for children with special needs, and provide lifelong learning so that no Malaysian is left behind in the development process.

PM launches ILMU, Malaysia's first home-grown multimodal AI

ILMU is Malaysia's own multimodal large language model (LLM), trained on local language and data to understand our culture, context and daily realities. Fully developed, owned and operated in Malaysia, it is built by YTL AI Labs, in partnership with Universiti Malaya (UM). ILMU keeps data local and gives the nation strategic control over its AI future, ensuring we lead with intelligence rooted in our own values and voice. The name ILMU stands for Intelek Luhur Malaysia Untukmu, reflecting the model's core values of 'Intelek', for context-aware intelligence; 'Luhur', for ethical foundations rooted in Malaysian values; 'Malaysia', for cultural and linguistic fluency; and 'Untukmu', because it is built to serve all Malaysians. ASEAN Secretary-General Dr Kao Kim Hourn and Digital Minister Gobind Singh Deo were also present at the launch. Meanwhile, Gobind, in a statement, applauded the establishment of ILMU, a groundbreaking Malaysian innovation by YTL AI Labs that reflects the national vision for a future driven by technology, inclusivity, and cultural relevance. "Built by Malaysians for Malaysians, ILMU showcases our ability to create world-class AI infrastructure while preserving our linguistic and cultural identity. "This is more than just technology; it is a step towards empowering our people, our businesses, and our nation in the digital era,' he said. YTL Power International Bhd managing director Datuk Seri Yeoh Seok Hong said ILMU represents YTL's commitment to innovation, rooted in Malaysia's diverse cultural and intellectual heritage. YTL AI Labs said ILMU performed on par with state-of-the-art models like GPT-4o and Llama 3.1. It said ILMU achieved the highest score among all frontier models in Bahasa Melayu language understanding (MalayMMLU - a test of multi-domain knowledge in Malay), demonstrating stronger performance on real-world prompts. Laman Malaysia MADANI promotes sustainable values and national unity
PUTRAJAYA: Laman Malaysia MADANI, a newly launched landscaped area at the Botanical Garden, embodies national identity through design elements reflecting sustainability, well-being, innovation, respect, trust, and compassion. Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar emphasised that the garden serves as an educational platform for visitors to grasp MADANI's principles and aspirations. He described the site as a tangible representation of an inclusive, sustainable, and unifying national vision. The garden features a prominent MADANI logo sculpture symbolising trust in the nation's direction, alongside a unity mural and iconic flowers representing love and togetherness. Senior officials, including Public Service Department director-general Tan Sri Wan Ahmad Dahlan Abdul Aziz, attended the launch alongside the unveiling of the publication 'Shamsul Azri: 365 Days of Upholding the Trust'. Shamsul Azri highlighted the garden's creative and sustainable elements, such as recycled-material benches and solar-powered lighting. He announced plans to expand the project to 10 public parks in Putrajaya to further embed MADANI values within the community.
