CrowdStrike Stock Dips on Guidance Miss: It May Rebound Fast
CrowdStrike stock fell over 6% after the company's short-term guidance failed to meet lofty expectations, but analysts remain bullish on the second half This story originally appeared on MarketBeat [content-module:CompanyOverview|NASDAQ:CRWD] CrowdStrike Holdings Inc. (NASDAQ: CRWD) is down more than 6% after delivering its first quarter earnings report after the market closed on June 3. The company beat on the bottom line. However, revenue came in as expected. Furthermore, the company's guidance was not as bullish as investors hoped. The takeaway is simple. As was the case with many technology stocks this earnings season, the sharp move prior to earnings was the overreaction. This is a move back to equilibrium. It's also an opportunity for investors to get involved with CRWD stock at a better price. But if investors are looking for that better price, they shouldn't wait too long, because this dip isn't likely to get much deeper. CrowdStrike Didn't Stick the Landing If CrowdStrike's earnings report was a gymnastics routine, people could say it was flawless, but the company didn't stick the landing. That landing was in the guidance for full-year revenue. It came in as expected. However, with a stock that was trading at a premium before the report, analysts and investors wanted to see more. But it's important to understand what the company delivered. Topline revenue of $1.10 billion was in line with expectations for $1.11 billion. Revenue was 20% higher year-over-year (YOY). Annual recurring revenue was up 22% YOY. Earnings per share (EPS) of 73 cents came in ahead of forecasts of 66 cents and was 265% higher YOY. The issue became the guidance. For the current quarter, CrowdStrike guided to revenue between $1.145 billion and $1.152 billion. Analysts were estimating $1.23 billion. The company's earnings per share estimate of between 82 cents to 84 cents per share was also below estimates of 92 cents. The Long-Term Outlook Is What Matters On May 23, DZ Bank downgraded CRWD stock from a Strong Buy to a Strong Sell with a price target of $370. Options traders were also bearish on CrowdStrike heading into earnings. In both cases, the sentiment was around CRWD stock being priced for perfection. [content-module:Forecast|NASDAQ:CRWD] The reason for that sentiment is that CrowdStrike is expecting subscription revenue in 2025 to be impacted by the goodwill offerings it made to customers in response to its well-publicized outage in 2024. These offerings allowed customers to sample services within CrowdStrike's Falcon platform at no charge. However, investors need to be careful about putting too much emphasis on the short-term price movement. That's because the impact of those goodwill offerings is projected to lessen in the second half of the year. On the earnings call, management confirmed the company already has booked $3.2 billion in revenue from its FalconFlex subscription model. The company expects business to accelerate in the second half of the year. To support that expectation, CrowdStrike maintained its full-year revenue outlook from $4.743 billion to $4.805 billion. The layoffs enacted earlier this year are also expected to benefit the company's bottom line. That also explains why, since the report, at least a dozen analysts are weighing in with many increasing their price targets for the stock. Dan Ives of Wedbush is among the most bullish, with a price target of $525. Don't Blink, or You'll Miss the Dip in CRWD Stock CRWD stock had rallied hard in the last few trading days before the earnings report. That left the stock priced for perfection, and investors decided they didn't get perfect results. To be fair, the stock isn't at oversold levels—it hasn't been since it hit around $312 in March. Nothing in the report suggested a massive sell-off that would collapse the stock price. Therefore, this may be your opportunity if you want to buy the dip. Early trading on June 4 suggests that many investors already have the same idea. By midday, CRWD stock had already covered about half of the dip in post-earnings. Investors hoping to get in at a price of around $325, which would bring its valuation down to about 16x, will be disappointed. However, it's time to focus on the potential for a breakout. As analysts raise their price targets, it's not hard to imagine the stock climbing another 15% or more from its current levels. This story originally appeared on Due New York City has erupted in basketball fever as the Knicks reach the National Basketball Association's conference finals for the first time in a quarter-century, causing ticket prices at Madison Square Garden to reach unprecedented heights. The team's long-awaited return to this advanced playoff stage has ignited a purchasing frenzy among fans desperate to witness history in person. This marks a significant moment for a franchise that has experienced multiple rebuilding phases and disappointments since its last conference finals appearance in 1999. Historic Return Fuels Market Surge After 25 years of waiting, Knicks fans are opening their wallets to secure seats for the upcoming games. The demand reflects both the team's passionate fan base and the significance of this playoff run in the context of the franchise's recent history. Madison Square Garden, often referred to as 'The World's Most Famous Arena,' is seeing ticket prices that match its prestigious reputation. The venue, which has hosted countless memorable NBA moments throughout its history, is once again the center of basketball attention in New York. Economic Impact of Playoff Success The surge in ticket prices represents more than just basketball enthusiasm—it demonstrates the economic power of successful sports franchises in major markets. Local businesses around Madison Square Garden are also experiencing increased activity as fans gather before and after games. The financial windfall extends beyond just primary ticket sales. The secondary market has exploded with resellers listing tickets at multiples of face value, creating both opportunities and challenges for fans hoping to attend the games. Some notable effects of the Knicks' playoff run include: Increased merchandise sales throughout the city Higher reservation rates at restaurants near Madison Square Garden Greater television viewership for Knicks games Fan Reaction and Cultural Significance The willingness of fans to pay premium prices highlights the cultural significance of the Knicks in New York City. Despite years of mediocre performance, the team has maintained a loyal following that has eagerly awaited this return to prominence. Social media platforms have been flooded with fans sharing their excitement, ticket purchase stories, and even complaints about the high prices. This online activity further fuels interest in the games and contributes to the escalating ticket market. The Garden' has always been a special place for basketball, but these conference finals games represent a new peak in both fan enthusiasm and financial investment required to attend. Basketball analysts note that the Knicks' return to the conference finals represents more than just a sporting achievement—it's a cultural moment for a city that prides itself on basketball tradition. The team's success has united diverse segments of New York's population in a shared experience. As the series approaches, the question remains whether ticket prices will continue to climb or if they'll reach a ceiling based on what even the most dedicated fans are willing to pay. Either way, Madison Square Garden will be the hottest venue in New York City as the Knicks continue their quest for an NBA championship. Robinhood Stock Keeps Giving Investors Reasons To Buy
Robinhood stock is now being considered for inclusion in the S&P 500 index, creating both potential upside and downside for investors. This story originally appeared on MarketBeat Shares of Robinhood Markets Inc. (NASDAQ: HOOD) have been one of the most exciting stories in the financial sector, as the company that has single-handedly done the most to democratize markets and information to everyday retail investors. This mission has earned the brand popularity and adoption over the years. However, management didn't stop there, knowing that growth opportunities are still everywhere. [content-module:CompanyOverview|NASDAQ:HOOD] After implementing more services and features, such as retirement account management, a 'gold' card with attractive rewards for each dollar spent, and even a high-yield savings feature, all the company's key performance indicators (KPIs) have shown the market why this stock has gone on such a tear quarter after quarter. If this weren't enough, a new catalyst is in the works for the company that could make it a vital player for all Americans. An announcement has been made that Robinhood stock is now one of several candidates on a list of stocks that could be added to the broader S&P 500 index. While this is not yet a confirmation, and the old Wall Street saying of 'buy the rumor and sell the news' could be at play here, it does not detract from a few other factors that are behind this stock's success. Robinhood Stock: A Winner Today There has to be a broader, less speculative reason behind the 92% rally that Robinhood has rewarded investors with over the past six months. This rally had started long before the potential S&P 500 addition news had even been floated around the market, making the announcement a cherry on top. Of course, if Robinhood does not make the cut to join the index, many disappointed investors could all run for the exits at the same time, but that does not make the stock a 'let go' candidate for other portfolios—far from it. If any discount whatsoever comes from Robinhood not making the cut, it could very well be a buying opportunity. The reason is that Robinhood's market share and popularity have translated into not only growth in its presence within the industry but also continued financial growth, which will work to keep expanding the business valuation on a fundamental level. There's also a new ace up the company's sleeve in trying to tap into the growth engine that has come out of the cryptocurrency markets. On Tuesday, June 3, 2025, management completed the acquisition of cryptocurrency exchange Bitstamp for $200 million, a decision that was welcomed by the markets through positive price action. This now allows Robinhood to combine its leading equities, options, and cryptocurrency trading capabilities to mark its place in the financial industry as a leader and innovator, a theme that will surely be reflected in future valuations. Following the news of the finalized deal on Tuesday, HOOD shares closed at $71.72, resulting in a four-year high for the stock. Pre-market trading on Wednesday saw the stock price rise modestly, reaching nearly $72.00. [content-module:TradingView|NASDAQ:HOOD] What Drives Robinhood's Success Perhaps it is the array of products and services the platform offers or its ease of use among new and seasoned investors alike; whatever the reason may be, it is undeniable that Robinhood's platform has seen stellar growth year after year, with no signs of slowing down anytime soon. In fact, when investors dig into Robinhood's latest quarterly earnings presentation, they will see some of these other indicators at play. For starters, the sheer level of users can be credited for the broader success this platform has had since there was an increase of 1.9 million over the past 12 months to reach a high of 25.8 million users in total. These users have also decided to bring their investable assets to Robinhood, helping the brand reach a net assets under custody figure of $221 billion, a 70% increase compared to the first quarter of 2024. These deposits enable Robinhood to generate interest on uninvested cash, invest in new initiatives, and develop new offerings. Those offerings and services have enabled Robinhood to boast up to $927 million in total revenues, or $3.3 billion over a 12-month period. Also, understanding that Robinhood's business model, a software company at its core, allows for high margins overall, investors can see how easily this company can compound value and earnings nearly on autopilot. Today's Market Is Ripe for Robinhood Another indicator to consider is the trading volume on the platform, which reached $413 billion for equities and $500 million for stock options as of the first quarter of 2025. These volumes (and the associated fees) are likely to report significant growth by the time the next quarter arrives. The reason is that President Trump's recently announced trade tariffs have triggered new levels of volatility in the S&P 500 index, causing trading activity to rise accordingly. With this in mind, investors can combine the growth in users, deposits, and trading activity to land on positive earnings per share (EPS) expectations moving forward. This is why, regardless of the outcome of the S&P 500 addition, investors can rest assured that Robinhood can continue to deliver positive returns, whether purchased at a discount following the news or on a breakout.
