Chappell Roan continues to earn her status as one of the hottest new hitmakers in the music industry — and not just in the pop world, where she's been building a passionate fanbase for years. The rising star scores a trio of wins that would be impressive for any country act, let alone someone who, until now, had never released a country single, or even really been considered part of the genre.
Roan's brand new single 'The Giver' blasts onto three Billboard country rankings this week. The singer-songwriter doesn't just sneak in or even debut inside the top 10 — she starts at No. 1 on all of them.
'The Giver' launches at No. 1 on the Hot Country Songs chart, the most important and competitive ranking in the genre. That roster blends data from sales, streams, and radio airplay to identify the most-consumed country tunes in the U.S., and right now, Roan's new single stands above all.
The song also conquers both the Country Streaming Songs and Country Digital Song Sales rankings. That means it's not only the most-played country track on platforms like Spotify and Apple Music, it's also the bestselling composition in the genre in the nation this week.
With 'The Giver,' Roan earns her first No. 1 on each of those three country-focused tallies. It's also her first appearance on any of them, which makes this triple win even more notable.
Plenty of musicians have crossed over into country in recent years, but few have done so with such immediate success. For an artist who hasn't marketed herself as country in the past, Roan's instant dominance is nearly unprecedented.
Despite leading in sales and streaming, 'The Giver' doesn't appear at all on the Country Airplay chart. That's not a small oversight, either. The Country Airplay list is Billboard's largest radio-specific chart, tracking 60 songs each week.
In other words, even though 'The Giver' is the most-consumed, bestselling and most-played country song in the United States, it doesn't currently rank among the 60 most popular at country radio.
Whether that's due to her pop origins or simply the speed at which the song is spreading, the absence is glaring, though not necessarily surprising. Many crossover tracks take weeks, if not months, to make a dent in radio rotation, especially at country stations.
'The Giver' isn't just a country win, it's a national smash. The single debuts at No. 5 on the Hot 100, giving Roan her third top 10 hit on the all-genre list of the most-consumed songs in the U.S.
The cut also opens at No. 2 on the Digital Song Sales chart and No. 4 on the Streaming Songs tally, meaning 'The Giver' is one of the bestselling and most-streamed songs in America this week, across all genres.

Rosé's tune is now tied as the second-longest-charting track in U.S. history by a K-pop musician. Although originally from New Zealand, Rosé is closely associated with the K-pop style thanks to her career beginnings in Blackpink. Much of her output is at least partially related to that genre — including 'Apt.,' which features both English and Korean lyrics. Just last week, 'Apt.' was on the same level as 'Gangnam Style,' the first K-pop hit many Americans were familiar with. That track, which peaked at No. 2 more than a decade ago, racked up 31 stays on the Hot 100 and, for many years, reigned as the highest-charting and longest-lasting success by any K-pop artist in America. 'Apt.' now needs just one more frame to tie the all-time best showing by a K-pop star. That honor belongs to Jimin, one of the seven singers that make up BTS. He kept his tune 'Who' on the tally for 33 weeks, starting in mid-2024. While Jimin's track only climbed to No. 12, it remained on the list for months. Since 'Apt.' is still present just outside the top 20, it seems likely Rosé will match Jimin's showing — and may even beat it in time.

A-ha Frontman Morten Harket Reveals Parkinson's Diagnosis, Says He's Done ‘Treating It as a Secret'
After battling Parkinson's disease for some time in private, A-ha's Morten Harket is now sharing his diagnosis with the public. By way of a letter written by the band's biographer, Jan Omdahl, the singer broke the news to fans that he has been receiving treatment for the neurological disorder 'in recent years,' undergoing surgeries last June and December to implant symptom-reducing electrodes on both sides of his brain. Harket also said that he'd been having conflicting feelings for quite some time about whether he should go public with his diagnosis. 'Like I said, acknowledging the diagnosis wasn't a problem for me; it's my need for peace and quiet to work that has been stopping me. 'It used to bother me to think about my sickness becoming public knowledge,' Harket added. 'In the long run, it bothers me more to have to protect something that is strictly a private matter by treating it as a secret.' I really like the idea of just going for it, as a Parkinson's patient and an artist, with something completely outside the box.'
