BBC's Destination X cast details in full as Rob Brydon hosts thrilling gameshow

Daily Mirror7 days ago
BBC's new gameshow Destination X will see 13 contestants go on a road trip of a lifetime around Europe, with the hope of winning a £100,000 prize at the end of it
The BBC's brand new gameshow is set to arrive on screens, as 13 players compete to claim £100,000.

Presented by Gavin and Stacey star Rob Brydon, Destination X whisks contestants away on an extraordinary road trip across Europe.

Blending elements of The Traitors with Race Across The World, participants are ferried around the continent completely unaware of their whereabouts or destination as they attempt to uncover reality amongst the clues, deception and falsehoods they encounter.

Daily, they journey aboard a coach with sensory deprivation and zero outside world contact, challenged with determining their possible location after receiving a collection of peculiar hints to assist them.
Only the cleverest will manage to distinguish the misleading information from the genuine truth within the clues, and contestants are gradually eliminated down to the victor (who claims a £100,000 prize) as they predict their positions, with the participant furthest from their actual location being removed from the competition, reports Wales Online.

Here's everything you need to know about the 13 players taking part....
Destination X cast:.
Ashvin
Age - 23

Occupation – Economics Graduate
Location - London
Ashvin isn't a fan of losing, and although he thinks luck plays a big part in winning the show, he's hoping to bring strategy and tactics, without 'overdoing it because that results in paranoia'.

'When I was young, I was a sore loser, but I've found ways to be graceful about it. In a competition like this there's more at stake though and it's important for the gameplay to want to win,' he said.
Ben
Age - 42

Occupation – Surf School Director
Location – South Wales
As a surfer, Ben is used to dealing with 'lots of situations very quickly', and has been preparing for the competition by 'treating it as if I was going to prison'.

He said: 'I'll be cut off from everybody and have got to deal with new people and environments that might be testing and challenging. It'd be nicer to think I'm going to space as an astronaut.'
Chloe-Anne
Age - 27

Occupation - Historian
Location - Oxford
Chloe-Anne saw the application for Destination X as a 'sign from the universe' after playing puzzle books with her late grandmother, who had a huge influence on her.

'I have a variety of different skills. I'm not amazing at any of them, but I've got an interesting combination. I'm hoping that some of them might prove to be useful,' she said.
Claire
Age - 51

Occupation - Retired Detective Sergeant
Location – West Sussex
Claire thinks her skills from being in the police for 26 years will help her with the game, and revealed how far she'd go to win the prize money.

'I'm a nice person, I'm not horrible to anybody but it's the name of the game, isn't it? So if I've got to double cross somebody to get what I want or to get myself further along I will. It might feel a bit uncomfortable, but they're going to be doing it to me.
'I don't really care about the money. It might pay my mortgage off but life's for living, isn't it?'

Daren
Age - 58
Occupation – London taxi driver
Location – London

Daren says he'll 'never back down from a challenge', and is planning on showing a new side to him.
The taxi driver, who has climbed Mount Kilimanjaro and Mount Meru, and rowed across the Atlantic Ocean with no nautical or rowing experience, said: 'People might think that I'm just a typical London taxi driver who likes eating pie and mash and drinking beer. Well, I am that, but it doesn't mean there aren't a few more layers to me.'

Dawn
Age - 33
Occupation - Care Assistant
Location - Derry

Aside from reading a children's Atlas and learning some basic countries and capitals, Dawn is hoping her teammates will help her get through.
'I'm a people person and I'm bubbly and chatty. Those skills are definitely going to help me because my geography is not. If I can befriend people and get to know them, then hopefully they'll point me in the right direction,' she said.

Deborah
Age - 62
Occupation – Crime Writer
Location - Lytham

Deborah thinks she may be 'underestimated' but her 'tenacity and determination' will surprise her competitors.
'I like a laugh and I've always used my humour to get out of a lot of trouble so they'll probably think I'm a bit ditzy, a bit of an airhead. That's fine, I'll play into that. It might get me another couple of stops further on,' she said.
Deborah is no stranger to adventures, having ended up in a black run while skiing and once being swept away while scuba diving. 'I just decided this is not my day to die and started to sing a hymn.'

'I should have just stuck with the golf,' she laughed.
James
Age - 23

Occupation – E-commerce Manager
Location - Manchester
James is willing to 'backstab and betray' to win the £100,000, saying: 'People will think I'm not taking it seriously, because I'm going to go in and have a laugh but I'm also there to make money.'

He added: 'Being on this show for a start is scary, but exciting. I'm sure the activities will be scary and exciting and will push me out of my comfort zone. I've always said that I might scream and shout my way down, but I'll do it.'
Jos
Age - 26

Occupation - Pilot
Location - Dartford
Josh is another contestant willing to do 'whatever it takes to win the money'.

Speaking ahead of the experience, he said: 'Not really knowing where I'll be is the most scary thing. I've always known exactly where I am, especially with being a pilot.
'I've actually trained my body to be orientated, so to be disorientated will be quite a weird feeling.
'I'm looking forward to the adventure. I love traveling and even if I don't win, I'll still have a great experience.'

Judith
Age - 28
Occupation - Nuclear Engineer

Location - Bristol
'I have a very competitive nature and I'm also super talkative,' Judith revealed.
She thinks she may come across as 'a bit ditzy' but is actually quite smart, adding: 'Because I talk a lot, I give off a blase, nonchalant attitude so they won't see me as being as competitive as I am. But I have a feeling that will leak out if we're doing a challenge and it's not going right.'

Mahdi
Age - 22
Occupation - Content creator

Location - London
'I have this mentality where, if I like the sound of something, I do anything I can to achieve it or be a part of it,' Mahdi shared.
'The way I prepare myself is just by being me. Being yourself is the best thing anyone can do.'

Nick
Age - 35
Occupation - Endurance Athlete

Location - Cornwall
Nick has run a marathon in every country in the world, but admitted he still doesn't know anything about any of the countries.
'I spent all my money, left my job and made running a career,' he said, of his 674-day adventure.

Being the first person in the world to do so, Nick holds 11 world records and 4 world firsts, but is ready to take on this new challenge.
He said: 'I'm most excited about experiencing everything. It's the ultimate game. I can go and do my own challenges, but I can't do this. I can't compete with other people in this way.'

Saskia
Age - 25
Occupation - Marketing Executive
Location - Birmingham

'I'm very determined and a very dedicated, devoted person. I don't like to quit so regardless of what it is I'll give 100%. Hopefully that will help me through the game,' Saskia said.
The self-confessed 'smart cookie' is ready to form alliances and be a team player, but admitted she's 'very competitive'.
Destination X will air on BBC One and iPlayer, beginning on Wednesday, July 30 at 9pm, with two episodes dropping each week.

Antisemitism reports spiked day after Bob Vylan Glastonbury chants

Reports of antisemitic incidents in the UK spiked a day after punk duo Bob Vylan's controversial performance at Glastonbury, according to a charity which described how communities are facing 'extreme levels of Jew-hatred'. Sentiment towards Israel is influencing and driving contemporary anti-Jewish discourse, the Community Security Trust (CST) said. The organisation, which monitors antisemitism in the UK, said there were a total of 1,521 antisemitic incidents across the UK in the first half of this year. This is the second-highest total ever reported to the organisation in the first six months of any year but is down by a quarter from the record high of 2,019 incidents recorded between January and June last year. Home Secretary Yvette Cooper said antisemitic incidents and crimes 'remain shamefully and persistently high'. There were at least 200 incidents every month in the first half of 2025, with the highest daily total at 26 incidents reported on June 29. This was a day after a performance by punk duo Bob Vylan at the world-renowned Glastonbury music festival in Somerset. During the set, which was livestreamed on BBC, rapper Bobby Vylan chanted 'Death, death to the IDF (Israel Defence Forces)'. The CST said the incidents reported to the charity involved anti-Jewish responses to events at Glastonbury as well as to the CST's subsequent statement on X which had branded the chants 'utterly chilling'. Avon and Somerset Police said last month that inquiries were continuing in relation to the comments made onstage during Bob Vylan's performance. The second-worst day for what the CST described as 'anti-Jewish hate' was May 17 when 19 incidents were recorded – coming a day after Israel announced an expansion of its military operation in Gaza. The CST said: 'Both of these cases illustrate how sentiment and rhetoric towards Israel and Zionism influence, shape and drive contemporary anti-Jewish discourse, online and offline, often around totemic events that grab mainstream public attention.' Just over half (51%) of all incidents in the first half of this year 'referenced or were linked to Israel, Palestine, the Hamas terror attack (of October 7, 2023) or the subsequent outbreak of conflict', the CST said. This was a similar proportion to the same period last year, and up from 16% in the first six months of 2023, reflecting a rise in 'anti-Jewish hate in the UK when Israel is at war', the CST said. Mark Gardner, the organisation's chief executive, said the statistics demonstrated 'extreme levels of Jew-hatred, committed in the name of anti-Israel activism'. June saw the highest number of incidents, with 326 being recorded following heightening tensions in Gaza. A total of 76 violent anti-Jewish assaults were recorded by the charity in the first six months of 2025, including three categorised as 'extreme violence' that resulted in either grievous bodily harm or a threat to life. The CST added that 84 cases of damage and desecration of Jewish property were recorded, as well as 21 incidents of mass-produced antisemitic literature and 1,236 incidents of verbal or written abuse. The trust said 572 online incidents were reported to them in the first half of the year, accounting for 38% of the total and down 12% from the same period last year. Giving examples of the range of incidents reported, Mr Gardner, said: 'It involves racial hatred, yelled at Jewish schoolchildren, scrawled on synagogue walls and thrown at anyone who is Jewish, or suspected of being Jewish. 'In such difficult times, CST is proud to give strength to British Jews when they most need it. 'We thank those politicians and police officers who have supported our community, especially when Jew-hatred is effectively sanctioned in so many spaces that falsely claim to oppose all forms of racism.' There were 774 antisemitic incidents recorded by the CST in Greater London, a drop of 26% over the same timeframe in 2024, and 194 cases in Greater Manchester, a decrease of 28% compared to the previous year. Outside these cities, the police areas with the highest number of reports were West Yorkshire with 73, Hertfordshire with 52, Scotland with 36, Sussex with 32 and West Midlands with 39. Northern Ireland had nine reports while Suffolk was the only mainland police region not to record a single incident, the trust said. Ms Cooper said antisemitism 'has a profoundly damaging impact both on the individuals affected and the wider Jewish community', and vowed the Government 'remains steadfast in its commitment to root out the poison of antisemitism wherever it is found'. The Government's independent adviser on antisemitism, Lord Mann, said the latest data shows 'that antisemitism continues to impact the British Jewish community at an unprecedented level'. He added: 'Antisemitism must be recognised by everyone as anti-Jewish racism and there must be a no tolerance approach to it across civil society at all levels.'

Coronation Street to welcome new family who will run Rovers Return

Catherine Tyldesley's character Eva Price, who was last seen on the show in 2018, will return alongside her latest partner and his mother, who are both new to the cobbles. Shameless actor Aaron McCusker stars as Eva's partner Ben Driscoll, with Father Ted's Pauline McLynn playing his interfering mother Maggie. Ben's two sons and Eva's daughter Suzie will also be joining the cast. Residents will discover that Eva and Ben are the new landlords in October, more than seven years after Eva stopped pulling pints to start a new life in France with her daughter. Coronation Street producer Kate Brooks said: 'We are beyond thrilled that Eva is returning as the landlady of the Rovers, with her new blended family in tow. 'The Driscolls do not arrive quietly, so expect big drama, explosive secrets and raucous knees ups galore. To have actors of Catherine, Aaron and Pauline's considerable calibre at the beating heart of this family is absolutely wonderful, and we can't wait for you to get to know and fall in love with them as much as we have already done. 'Strap yourselves in, it's going to be an exciting and eventful ride.' A host of stars have left the British soap this year including Sue Cleaver, who spent 25 years playing Eileen Grimshaw. Among the others who have left are Colson Smith, who played Craig Tinker on the ITV soap opera, and Luca Toolan, who played Mason Radcliffe.
