Deputy fire chief Jesse Oshell said the situation has been contained and there is no threat to the public.
No injuries have been reported, Oshell said, adding that fire crews were called to the scene around 6:40 p.m.
Sudbury police have also confirmed they are on the scene assisting Glencore with the situation.
No other information has been released and Glencore officials didn't immediately return messages Friday.
