Siddaramaiah attacks Modi over Trump's tariff, terms it ‘economic blackmail'
In a social media post on the eve of the visit of Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, to the State to lead the protest against 'vote theft', Mr. Siddaramaiah said, 'I fully agree with Mr. Rahul Gandhi. Be it GST, demonetisation, Chinese aggression, the 'Modani' nexus, or COVID-19 failures, farm laws, Rafale, PM CARES, and electoral bonds — Mr. Rahul Gandhi called them out early. The BJP mocked him. But he was proven right again and again. His warning on US President Donald Trump's 50% tariff is no different.'
The Chief Minister argued that since 2019, Mr. Modi had 'gone out of his way to please Trump', but Trump was not impressed. 'He saw it not as diplomacy — but surrender,' Mr. Siddaramaiah maintained.

Substantiating his allegations, Mr. Siddaramaiah said, 'Then, Trump did exactly what a true friend wouldn't: He claimed 33 times (and counting) that he brokered peace between India and Pakistan. He hosted Pakistan's Army Chief — the man whose hate speeches led to the Pahalgam terror attack. He backed Israel's brutal assault on Gaza — and Mr. Modi stayed silent, just to remain in Washington's good books'. When all these things happened, there was no protest or attempt to push back or efforts to protect dignity, the CM alleged.

Stating that the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi had stood firm against American pressure in the 1970s, Mr. Siddaramaiah demanded that instead of attacking her legacy, Mr. Modi should learn from it. 'India must uphold its strategic autonomy with dignity — not surrender it for photo-ops,' said Mr. Siddaramaiah.

Prayers at Jal gurdwara in Satyapal Malik's memory
Jalandhar: Farm groups will be organising a bhog and an antim ardas, or last prayers, in the memory of the late Jammu and Kashmir governor Satyapal Malik at Gurdwara Shaheedean, Sarmastpur, near Jalandhar on Aug 14. The religious function is being jointly organised by farm and worker groups, as Malik spoke in support of farmers during the farm movement. In July, Sikh and farm groups had organised an Akhand Path at Darbar Sahib, Amritsar, to pray for Malik's health. BJP state disciplinary committee chairperson Onkar Singh Lakhawat said a show-cause notice had been issued to Janu on June 20, seeking an explanation for his comments. In the video, Janu is heard criticising senior BJP leaders over what he described as the "humiliating treatment" of Malik, who had served as the governor of several states and was once the party's national vice-president. CM Bhagwant Mann reviews projects in Sangrur
Sangrur: Punjab chief minister Bhagwant Mann on Sunday said the state was witnessing unprecedented development in every sphere as massive development works were underway. The CM, who reviewed ongoing development works in the Dirbha assembly segment, said the projects were in full swing and would be completed soon. He said the projects were conceived with larger public interest in mind. There is no dearth of funds for development works, Mann added. Speaking about the agricultural sector, the CM promised to ensure paddy transplantation without the use of tubewells, claiming that canal water had now reached even the remotest village of the state.
