New Range Rover Sport SV Carbon edition revealed
The British carmaker describes it as 'the ultimate expression of lightweight performance, featuring carbon finishes and exclusive colours'.
Available in four standard exterior colours, along with a broader selection from the curated SV Premium Palette, the SV Carbon stands out with a Forged Carbon Exterior Pack and lightweight 23-inch forged alloy wheels paired with Anodised Black brake calipers.
An exposed carbon fibre bonnet is optional, as are 23-inch carbon fibre wheels that reduce the vehicle's weight by 76kg, improving acceleration, handling and ride quality.
Buyers can also upgrade to a carbon ceramic brake package, featuring eight piston SV calipers finished in blue, yellow, carbon bronze or black.
Inside, four interior themes are offered with Windsor leather seats in Ebony, Rosewood and Ebony or Light Cloud and Ebony. A leather free option combines Cinder Grey and Ebony using perforated Ultrafabrics material. Forged Carbon detailing features on the seat backs and dashboard with a Twill Carbon finish also available.
Other unique touches include Extended Moonlight Chrome accents, SV branded illuminated treadplates and Body and Soul Seat technology — an audio system that allows front occupants to 'feel' the sound.
Power comes from a BMW-sourced, 4.4 l twin-turbocharged mild hybrid petrol V8 producing 467kW and 750Nm. This enables a 0-100km/h sprint in 3.7 seconds and a top speed of 290km/h.
Underpinning the vehicle is JLR's sophisticated 6D Dynamics suspension system, which includes hydraulic interlinked dampers, height adjustable air springs and a 48V pitch control system that replaces traditional anti-roll bars.
Custom SV calibrations have been applied to the intelligent all-wheel drive, all-wheel steering, torque vectoring by braking, configurable dynamics and active locking rear differential. These changes aim to enhance responsiveness and deliver a more focused driving experience.
The Range Rover Sport SV Carbon will make its global debut at Range Rover House during Monterey Car Week on August 13. Local availability is expected from late 2025, with pricing starting at R3,822,300.

He went on to finish the race in P12. Ecclestone went as far as to suggest Hamilton should 'throw in the towel' before something 'nasty' happened to him.

Jaguar Defender owner frustrated after 13 repairs in three years
The luxury 2022 Defender 4x4 Image: Supplied Jaguar Land Rover says it cannot be held responsible for repairs to a R1.633 million Jaguar Defender which has apparently been returned at least thirteen times over a three-year period due to recurring mechanical failures. The consumer's attorney, Trudie Broekmann said what should have been a dream purchase of a 4x4 utility vehicle designed for travel on bumpy, wet, muddy and uneven roads and advertised as being able to 'tackle up to 900 MM of water', quickly turned into a nightmare for her client. 'During May 2025, our client drove through a puddle of mud on the road, while in Koster in the North-West Province. Shortly thereafter, the vehicle's exhaust system started releasing excessive smoke, the vehicle went into limp mode and an 'exhaust filter full' warning light started flashing. 'As a result, the vehicle had to be towed and taken to the dealership for repairs, where it was discovered that there was a build-up of soot in the vehicle's Diesel Particulate Filter ('DPF') and that the vehicle's turbo as well as other components were damaged. However, Jaguar Land Rover South Africa rejected a warranty claim and our client received a quotation for the necessary repairs in the amount of a shocking R523 054.32, which is almost half of the vehicle's purchase price,' an open letter addressed to Jaguar read. She said it was alarming that a 4x4 utility vehicle, designed to 'tackle up to 900MM of water', advertised as being 'unstoppable', 'tough. Inside and out' and able to 'go from road, to mud, to snow, to anywhere' would suffer a failure of the air filter and DPF systems after driving through a shallow mud puddle. The incident was not isolated; the driver allegedly experienced several other issues with the vehicle, including "unusual scratching noises from the vehicle's front speakers, brake warning lights flashing unexpectedly, malfunctioning front sensors", among others. "Despite repeated requests, our client's demand for a replacement vehicle was rejected. "It is completely unacceptable that our client has had to return a brand new vehicle on no fewer than thirteen separate occasions within a three year period since taking delivery, all the while being deprived of the use of the vehicle for a combined total of 206 days and counting, having to pay monthly instalments and insurance premiums on a vehicle which cannot be utilised and which remains unusable due to yet another defect, one which our client is expected to repair at his own cost,' said Broekmann. Jaguar Land Rover however maintained they were not liable to replace the vehicle, saying that their investigation of the problem found it was not a manufacturing defect. 'We investigate all vehicle-related claims rigorously and remain fully committed to resolving issues fairly and transparently. In this instance, our investigation confirmed that the issue raised by Ramoremi Trading CC was caused by the vehicle being submerged in water, and/or mud, exceeding the prescribed operating parameters of the vehicle, clearly defined in the warranty terms. This was not a manufacturing defect. These findings were communicated directly to Ramoremi Trading CC and its legal representatives, in line with standard procedure. We stand firmly by our assessment and our obligation to uphold the terms of the warranty agreement,' said Jaguar. Cape Times

Rolls-Royce Phantom celebrates 100 years with art collection
The Rolls-Royce Phantom, the marque's pinnacle nameplate, celebrates its centenary year in 2025, though the British luxury brand was founded in 1904 by Charles Rolls and Henry Royce. More than eight generations and 100 years, this car has been owned by some of the most famous creatives in modern history. Masters including Salvador Dalí, Andy Warhol, Henri Matisse, Pablo Picasso, Christian 'Bébé' Bérard and Cecil Beaton all travelled by Rolls-Royce while Dame Laura Knight, the first woman elected to full membership of the Royal Academy of Arts, used a Rolls-Royce as a mobile studio, painting from its interior. With the Phantom's 100th birthday in mind, and the close links with the arts, the marque has selected the story of the eccentric Spanish artist Dalí and a Rolls-Royce car to commission two special artworks inspired by Dalí's moments with a Phantom — the first a cauliflower-filled Phantom on a cold winter day in December 1955 and the other inspired by Andy Warhol — one of the most influential artists of the 20th century — seen by many as Dalí's natural successor.
