Kaizer Chiefs news: R15 million, Castillo's future

Kaizer Chiefs captain Yusuf Maart looks set to join Austrian Bundesliga side SV Ried for a reported fee of R15 million.
The 29-year-old was absent from Amakhosi's pre-season tour in the Netherlands, with sources confirming the club and player are close to finalising the deal. Chiefs extended Maart's contract before it expired in June, ensuring they won't lose him on a free transfer.
Maart's departure could be the start of a bigger turnover for Kaizer Chiefs, with midfielder Edson Castillo also expected to leave. Castillo was not included in the pre-season squad, sparking speculation about his future. Chiefs could receive a hefty fee for Castillo, who has attracted interest from North America. Both Maart and Castillo have been pivotal to the Chiefs midfield over the last two seasons, so their exits would mark a significant change.
Kaizer Chiefs have shown a clear intent to do business this window, following similar sales of Teenage Hadebe, Siyabonga Ngezana, and Thatayaone Ditlhokwe. The R15 million reportedly asked for Maart shows the club's focus on maximizing value. Fans are left to wonder how these departures will affect Chiefs' cohesion and title ambitions for the upcoming season.

Kaizer Chiefs: R7-million goalkeeper to make way for new signing

Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeping department is set to undergo changes. Kaizer Chiefs are making wholesale changes across their squad. Meaning, no position is immune to being cut by Amakhosi management. The latest player heading out is this R7-million goalkeeper. Chiefs will be loaning out of selling Fiacre Ntwari. 'Its believed that they are still planning on loaning out Ntwari and bringing in another goalkeeper, but that will affect Ntwari and Chiefs are still working on his move before the start of the season,' the insider told SNL. Meaning, Amakhosi plans to release Ntwari. Meanwhile, Chiefs are still in the market for a new goalkeeper. So, Nasreddine Nabi and Amakhosi management are set to release Ntwari to make space for a new keeper. This will also free up a foreign-based spot in the Amakhosi squad. Stanley Nwabili is one of the big-name potential replacements lined up by Chiefs. Yanga SC have expressed interested in signing Ntwari. 'Yanga SC have enquired about Ntwari and it remains to be seen whether they are the rightful suitors or there are teams locally who could get him on loan. But from Chiefs perspective, they are still looking at opening space in the goalkeeping department,' he added on the same publication. So, a move out of Naturena is in the best interest of both parties involved. For Ntwari, he needs to move if he is going to play more regularly. He was dropped by Nabi halfway through the 2024/25 PSL season. He was replaced by Brandon Petersen and Bruce Bvuma who rotated the starting berth in goal throughout the second half of the campaign. Meanwhile, as mentioned, Chiefs want to create space for a new goalkeeper and they want to free up space for future international signings. 'I lived the dream': Departed Orlando Pirates fan-favourite breaks silence

Former Orlando Pirates midfielder Phillip Ndlondlo has spoken for the first time since he left the club. The 30-year-old spent three seasons with the Buccaneers, making more than 50 appearances and scoring three goals. In June, the club opted not to renew his contract after three years. Ndlondlo is now free to sign with any club of his choice after being granted his clearance from the Buccaneers. The former Orlando Pirates star took to social media to thank the fans. 'From the bottom of my heart l would like to take this opportunity and thank the chairman amongst the chairman and the whole Orlando Pirates family for giving me the opportunity of fulfilling the dream I had as a young kid of playing for the biggest team in the country and it's not everyone that gets that opportunity and live that dream but l was one of the fortunate kids,' Ndlondlo wrote on his Instagram account. 'l'm so grateful for all the platform that was offered to me to be able to achieve all the things I have accomplished and created the best memories with the best and special group that turned into brothers from the staff, the mothers in the kitchen that prepares food for us, the grounds man of Rand and Orlando Stadium to the ever faithful fans and the people behind the team,' he said. 'You will forever be a part of me. Thank you to all that has supported throughout, and to my mates, I love you and you know the story. It was nice, and I wish you nothing but the best. You know the story that once and always.' Let us know by leaving a comment below, or send a WhatsApp to 060 011 0211.
