"Before he passed, he gave me one final piece of advice, 'It's time to let football go. You've done everything you set out to do. Now it's time for the next chapter,'" Suh said of his late father, who died on July 12, 2024.
"That conversation stayed with me. So today, one year later, I'm honoring that wish," Suh added. "I'm officially retiring from the NFL."
Suh was the No. 2 overall pick of the Lions in 2010 and ended up spending five years with the team before moving on in free agency with the Miami Dolphins in 2015, where he spent three seasons.
Suh also appeared in contests with the Los Angeles Rams, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Philadelphia Eagles. He won a Super Bowl with the Bucs in 2020.

Patriots CB Christian Gonzalez exits 1st padded practice of training camp with lower body injury
FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) — Cornerback Christian Gonzalez left the Patriots' first full-pads practice of training camp on Monday with a lower body injury. Gonzalez limped off the field following a play during 11-on-11 drills in which he had been matched up with receiver Stefon Diggs. Gonzalez left the field under his own power, but was attended to by the training staff in an area adjacent to the field. He then exited the field in the direction of the locker room and didn't return. Gonzalez earned second-team All-Pro honors last season. He had two interceptions, 59 tackles and 11 pass breakups in 16 games. A first-round draft pick in 2023, Gonzalez appeared in only four games as a rookie before suffering a shoulder injury that required season-ending surgery. ___ AP NFL:

Joe Flacco on Kenny Pickett's injury as quarterback race continues: 'You don't want to see something like that'
Cleveland Browns quarterback Joe Flacco spoke about the unfortunate timing of an injury to teammate Kenny Pickett in training camp on Monday. Over the weekend, the tight competition for the starting spot shifted when Pickett sustained a hamstring injury in practice. "I think, listen, I think there's worse timing," Flacco said after Monday's practice. "But at any point when you've been working so hard, you don't want to see something like that." Both Flacco and Pickett joined the Browns ahead of this NFL season and lead the depth chart ahead of rookies Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders. The Akron Beacon Journal initially reported that the second week of Browns training camp would include adjustments in the quarterback reps. Come Monday afternoon, Gabriel was filmed on the field during passing drills. With Pickett sidelined and Gabriel getting reps in, Sanders recently had an impressive showing late into the first week of training camp. ESPN's Daniel Oyefusi counted that Sanders had more scrimmage sets than Flacco throughout Week 1 of camp. Sanders was also filmed throwing touchdown passes over the defense in training. However, his reps had not come with the first-team offense. All four quarterbacks are fresh faces to the Browns locker room, apart from Flacco, who had a one-year stint with the Browns in 2023. Pickett joined Cleveland after two years with the Pittsburgh Steelers and a season with the Philadelphia Eagles. In his lone, Super Bowl-winning year with the Birds, Pickett made five appearances and completed 25 of 42 attempts for two touchdowns. Flacco's long career was mostly spent in Baltimore, where he was the signal caller for the Ravens for 11 years. He has since played for the Denver Broncos, New York Jets and Indianapolis Colts. The Browns had Deshaun Watson, Jameis Winston and Dorian Thompson-Robinson in the position just last season. They had a complete wipeout of their quarterbacks after a 3-14 season, starting with a season-ending Achilles tear for Watson in Week 7. He then re-ruptured his Achilles after rolling his ankle during the rehab process, putting his availability for 2025 in doubt. Watson's contract will count just under $36 million against the Browns' salary cap this season, per Spotrac. Despite Pickett's injury, the Browns have previously expressed they will not trade any of their quarterbacks. Cleveland will open their season on September 9 against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Titans waive WR selected with the 1st round pick acquired from Eagles in A.J. Brown trade
Mike Vrabel is now with the New England Patriots, and the Titans' 2022 draft night trade of A.J. Brown to the Philadelphia Eagles played a significant role in the massive rebuild Tennessee has undergone since that time. In a move that was finally expected to elevate Jalen Hurts to another tier, the Eagles acquired Brown from the Titans for the No. 18 overall pick in the draft and another third-round pick. Tennessee used that No. 18 pick on then-Arkansas wide receiver Treylon Burks, who, after a slow start to his rookie season, had shown improvement and had 24 catches for 334 before a blowout win by Philadelphia over the Titans in November of 2022. Fast forward to 2025, and Brown has developed into a perennial All-Pro and arguably the best wide receiver in the NFL. Burks has been inconsistent and, after recently suffering a broken collarbone, was waived/injured by the Titans on Monday, the team announced. In three seasons, Burks has played just 27 games (17 starts) and recorded 53 receptions for 699 yards and one touchdown. In his three seasons with the Eagles, Brown has played in and started 47 of a possible 51 games, recording 261 catches for 4,031 yards and 25 touchdowns, with an average of 15.6 yards per catch. Brown has earned three All-Pros during his tenure with the Eagles. This article originally appeared on Eagles Wire: Titans waive WR Treylon Burks
