Katie Hill calls for the return of two major Emmerdale legends for tragic story
Sarah Sugden (Katie Hill) is facing a difficult time ahead in Emmerdale as she's given a diagnosis of cervical cancer.
Already living with a condition called Fanconi anaemia, which could mean she'll have a shorter than average lifespan, Sarah has made the decision to have IVF so she can become a mother.
She previously thought she was pregnant, but while his turned out to be a false alarm it left her realising that she desperately wants to be a mum before it's too late. She decided to look into having IVF, and it was at an appointment about the IVF that a possible problem was spotted.
'The doctor sees some inflamed cells and she gets called back in for a biopsy. She then gets called to an appointment and is told she's got cancer,' Katie Hill told us.
'She's trying to stay positive, she thinks everything is going to work out. She's obviously dealt with cancer growing up, she's been through so much she's quite good at handling stuff like that as much as it hurts to hear.
'She takes the route of 'I'm going to focus on having this baby and the IVF,' so that's where she's at with her mental state. She just wants to have this baby and get the cancer out the way.'
Another reason that Sarah doesn't want to confide in anyone is that she knows that they would advise her to forget about the IVF, Katie explained:
'Deep down she knows she's not doing the right thing by not telling anyone because she knows if she did, they'd say hold off on the IVF now, let's sort the cancer. But she doesn't want to do that, so for now she's happy to keep it to herself.'
Having been at Emmerdale for eight years, Katie reflected that she has grown up on the show.
'It's funny because when I came into the show, I was the kid on set,' she recalled. 'I wouldn't get involved in all the adult conversations and now Emma [Atkins] is my best friend. She's a 50-year-old woman and is one of my bestest friends. More Trending
'I know we all say it's like a family, but it really is. If I ever need help with anything I've got someone to turn to. It's been nice. The Dingle WhatsApp group chat, that's always going off. It's called 12 Angry Dingles after that storyline with Lydia (Karen Blick). We're a really tight bunch and I adore them all.'

There are two Emmerdale legends that Katie would love to see back in the Dales, however, and that's Charley Webb and Kelvin Fletcher, who played Sarah's parents Debbie Dingle and Andy Sugden. Charley left the show in 2021.
'Funnily enough I never met Kelvin Fletcher,' Katie told us, as Kelvin was last seen in the show in 2016.

'Obviously it would be great if he came back and we got a chance to explore their relationship. And obviously Charley, she was my person here for so many years. She really took me under her wing when I joined the show so it would be so nice to work with them both. I'd like that.'

Vicki takes action to keep EastEnders abuser Joel out of jail after assault
Vicki Fowler (Alice Haig) makes it her mission to protect Joel Marshall (Max Murray) after his commits another sex offence in EastEnders next week. As viewers of the BBC One soap have seen, Joel is deeply troubled, and is the reason his family were forced to flee from Australia. After upskirting a school mate, his dad Ross (Alex Walkinshaw) coughed up a whopping $50,000 to keep the girl's silence, but her family also demanded that they leave the country. Since settling in Walford, it seems that his behaviour hasn't changed. Not only has he introduced naïve Tommy Moon (Sonny Kendall) to pornography, but he also decided to record sexual content of his own. Growing closer to Avani Nandra-Hart (Aaliyah James), he secretly filmed them having sex – a video which a horrified Ross later discovered on his son's phone. In upcoming scenes, his behaviour worsens, despite demands from both Ross and Vicki for him to change his ways. Having spent the day with Tommy, the lads board an underground train and Joel decides to entwine him further into a web of misbehaviour. He pulls out his phone, and instructs Tommy to start recording. Stumbling through the carriage, he pretends to fall on a fellow passenger named Isla, who he goes onto touch inappropriately. Tommy is stunned by what he sees, as a terrified Isla rushes to report him to the police that are present in the tube station. Joel is apprehended and hauled in for questioning – just as Ross and Vicki witness what is happening. Down at the cop shop, Ross demands answers from the teen, as Vicki corners Isla and tries to comfort her. Vicki is supportive of the girl's decision to report Joel, and hopes that it will be the kick he needs to stop his alarming behaviour patterns. She then passes on her number in case she needs anything further from the family. Later that night, she comes up with a cunning plan, inspired by Ross' actions Down Under. EastEnders stars tease Joel's downfall as 'trouble' ahead in 'big' new storyline
EastEnders cast members Shane Richie and Sophie Khan Levy have both hinted there could be twists and turns when teenager Joel Marshall's sickening actions are exposed There could be a downfall set for EastEnders teen Joel Marshall, who has been at the centre of some dark scenes recently. The son of Ross Marshall only arrived weeks ago, but he's already targeted one teenage girl with a sex tape filmed without her consent, while it was also revealed something happened with a girl while he was living in Australia. It was said to involve an inappropriate image, and it led to Joel having to flee while he also owed someone money in a bid to pay the girl's family off. It was clear Joel had not changed though, recently isolating Avani Nandra-Hart from her friends before sleeping with her, only to record her without telling her. He showed the video to pal Tommy Moon, while Avani has been trolled over sleeping with Joel - but the video is yet to emerge. Amid this, Joel has been leading Tommy astray, and recent scenes saw the latter being introduced to pornography by the bad influence. Joel appears to have some worrying views and thoughts about girls, with fans fearing what's ahead for the character and Tommy amid a shocking assault in upcoming scenes. Speaking exclusively to The Mirror, two stars somewhat involved in the ongoing storyline have teased "trouble" on the way and a "big storyline" ahead. There's also hints of what could happen if Avani's parents find out about the sickening video, with a revenge teased. Meanwhile, Shane Richie, who plays Tommy's father Alfie Moon, has also promised more drama ahead. He addressed a huge storyline on the way that was just about to kick off, and hinted it could be linked to Tommy and Joel. While he didn't confirm this, the timings would certainly match up. Shane said: "There is more trouble ahead and while I was away there was a lot filmed. Sonny who plays Tommy texted me saying, 'Shane, I'm doing this and that'. It's great. It's big stuff." As for Sophie, she spilled on Ravi and Priya's likely reaction: "I really don't know. I think I can imagine them two going crazy. After what she was like with Jack Branning... that was an awful moment for Avani. "Priya and Ravi are both quick to get angry so who knows what Joel will face when they find out. We'll have to see!" Shane also teased big scenes ahead as he addressed Ben Wadey replacing Executive Producer Chris Clenshaw. He shared with us: "There have been a lot of positive changes and everyone's really embracing it. Everyone worries when you change Executive Producer but the handover has been brilliant. Chris and Ben are such big fans of the show and that's important. "Ben has already told me what is ahead. There's a lot of fireworks, there always are. Emmerdale confirms full-time exit as legend is gone for good
It was Eric Pollard's (Chris Chittell) birthday in Emmerdale tonight, but one of the gifts he received wasn't a happy one. Eric has slowly come to accept that he needs extra help around the house. The beloved character lives with Parkinson's, and has now reached a stage where he cannot do small tasks such as putting his shoes on, or drinking from a cup. Kerry Wyatt (Laura Norton) and Jacob Gallagher (Joe-Warren Plant) decided to organise a carer for Eric, but his pride got in the way. He felt the lady was patronising, and also couldn't accept that his poor health had got him to this point. The only person who managed to get through to Eric was Kerry. She is never afraid to say what she thinks, and admitted on a number of occasions that she thinks Eric is stubborn, grumpy, and ungrateful. The two friends made a deal that Eric would pay Kerry to help look after him. She agreed, and one of the first things she did was take his bank card into town for some shopping. However, when Eric started getting loads of bank notifications, he assumed that Kerry was just splashing his cash for her own gain. When she got home, he apologised after learning that she had bought things specifically to make his life easier.
