Minister Al-Roumi calls for Kuwaitization of oil sector
KUWAIT CITY - Oil Minister Tariq Al-Roumi has stressed the need to Kuwaitize the oil sector in the coming years, particularly since the nationals working in the sector are creative and excellent. Sources disclosed that the minister made the statement two days ago, during his meeting with the Board of Directors of Kuwait Oil Company (KOC) Workers Union.
Sources said the minister also underscored the importance of creating a good work environment for nationals. Sources affirmed that the minister listened to the demands of the employees through their union. Sources added the minister praised the efforts exerted by the nationals working in the oil sector --whether at KOC or elsewhere; stressing these employees are the nation's real wealth, especially since they are the foundation of the future. Sources also quoted the minister as saying that all the demands of the workers will be met.

Combined Group secures $338mln GCC infrastructure contracts
Kuwait-based Combined Group Contracting (CGC), a leading player in the Arab Gulf's contracting sector, has announced that it key subsidiaries have secured contracts worth $338.3 million from across the GCC region. The first contract worth AED 859.9 million ($234.1 million) for road construction works in UAE was snapped up by its local unit - CGC Company Emirates - from the Ministry of Energy & Infrastructure. As part of the contract, the company will execute the upgrade of Emirates Road from Al Bade'a Intersection to E55 Intersection. The scope of work involves the construction of new bridges and intersections, as well as the improvement of existing ones. The entire work will be completed within a two-year period, said the company in a statement. Also CGC said it had snapped up two contracts from Kuwait Oil Company (KOC) worth KD32 million ($104.2 million). The first contract is related to external works of Jurassic production facilities in Umm Naqa area which will be completed in 19 months, while the second contract is related to Wafra Joint Operations (WJO) Gas Export Pipeline project. The project involves the engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning of a new export pipeline spanning 65km from WJO to the Kuwaiti company's gas booster station. Kuwait's HEISCO awarded KOC deal
Kuwait's Engineering Industries and Ship-building Company (HEISCO) has signed a contract to provide drydocking services to oil vessels in the Gulf state. The deal, with a value of 4.99 million Kuwaiti dinars ($16 million) has been awarded by the state-owned Kuwait Oil Company (KOC), the OPEC member's upstream arm. In a bourse disclosure statement on Monday, HEISCO said the contract involves the 'provision drydocking services for KOC marine vessels.' Kuwait: KOC affirms keenness on partaking in conventions for enriching expertise
MUSCAT: Kuwait Oil Company (KOC) Chief Executive Officer for Planning and Innovation Mohammad Abduljalil on Tuesday affirmed the company's keenness on partaking in regional and international conventions and activities to bring into prominence Kuwait's achievements in the oil and gas sectors. Abuljalil was speaking to KUNA during Oman Petroleum and Energy Show (OPES) and Oman Sustainability Week 2025, scheduled May 12-14. The Kuwaiti delegation taking part in the events groups experts and engineers who are presenting exhibitions and task papers shedding light on the KOC experience, its latest innovations and achievements in the sectors of oil, gas, public health, safety, security, environment, special responsibility and sustainability. He indicated at the company's efforts for boosting digital transformation, overhauling operational efficiency, in addition to its deep concern for environmental sustainability as part of its responsibilities toward the coming generations in support for "neo Kuwait vision 2035." Participation in such conventions is necessary for studying other companies and institutions' experience and swapping ideas, Abduljalil said. Meanwhile, Fahad Al-Kharqawi, the KOC CEO for Projects Management and Engineering affirmed the company's pivotal role in developing the oil sector through its strategy of applying latest innovation, lauding the personnel devotion and commitment to work.
