Andhra Pradesh will soon bring a new comprehensive film policy aimed at addressing issues in the Telugu film industry, Minister for Tourism, Culture and Cinematography Kandula Durgesh said on Monday.
The Minister met a delegation of film producers at the Secretariat here, where they submitted a document outlining industry challenges. The producers sought his intervention to arrange a meeting with Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan to discuss industry problems and the development of 24 key sectors. Durgesh assured them he would facilitate such a meeting in the first or second week of September after formulating detailed proposals.
The discussion covered shooting permissions, new film releases, and infrastructure needs such as studios, dubbing theatres, and re-recording facilities. Durgesh said the government would support projects that enhance industry infrastructure.
Nandi awards
On Nandi awards, the Minister said the Chief Minister had taken a decision to present them this year and that the format would be designed to benefit the industry. He said producers expressed different views on whether Andhra Pradesh and Telangana should select the awards jointly or separately, and promised to take the matter to the Chief Minister and the Deputy Chief Minister for consideration.

In the fast-changing world of Bollywood, stars come and go, but some leave behind an imprint that time cannot erase. Divya Bharti was one such phenomenon—an actress whose beauty, charm, and talent captivated millions. Her facial features often drew comparisons to the legendary Sridevi, and her rise was so swift that even established names like Karisma Kapoor and Raveena Tandon reportedly felt her growing presence in the industry. During the 1990s, Divya became the face of youthful charm, winning hearts with her innocence and grace. But her journey came to an abrupt, tragic halt at just 19, leaving behind questions that remain unanswered. Divya's entry into films was nothing short of meteoric. She made her debut at just 16 in Telugu cinema before stepping into Bollywood. Within a span of two to three years, she delivered one hit after another, becoming a reigning queen of the box office. In 1992, Vishwatma released, and its iconic track Saat Samundar Paar turned into a timeless anthem. Movies like Deewana, Shola Aur Shabnam, and Dil Ka Kya Kasoor cemented her position as a rising superstar. At an age when most are just starting their careers, she already had a Filmfare Award for Best Debut in her hands. The night that changed everything On the night of April 5, 1993, tragedy struck. Divya fell from the balcony of her Mumbai apartment. She was rushed to the hospital but declared dead before arrival. At the time, she was just 19—and working on 12 films, many of which were left incomplete. Her sudden death sent shockwaves across the film industry. Questions and theories arose, but the exact circumstances of that night remain clouded in mystery. What happened to her incomplete films? One of her unfinished projects, Laadla, was eventually completed with Sridevi stepping into the role. Other films saw actresses like Juhi Chawla, Karisma Kapoor, and Raveena Tandon taking over. The 'what if' around Divya's career is one of Bollywood's most enduring conversations. Had she lived, she might have stood alongside or even surpassed the biggest names of her generation. More than three decades later, Divya Bharti's story still tugs at Bollywood's heart. She remains frozen in time—forever young, forever loved, and forever a mystery.

War 2 advance booking Day 1: Hrithik Roshan–Jr NTR starrer set to cross ₹20 crore before August 14 release

With just a day to go before its August 14 release, War 2 – starring Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR – is building strong momentum at the box office. The latest addition to the YRF Spy Universe is drawing high anticipation, with early estimates suggesting an opening day of over ₹ 20 crore. According to figures from Sacnilk, advance bookings across India have already brought in ₹ 9.04 crore. When blocked seats are included, the total jumps to an impressive ₹ 17.29 crore – a sign of growing interest ahead of the Independence Day weekend. The Hindi 2D version remains the biggest draw, earning ₹ 5.56 crore. Including premium formats such as IMAX 2D, 4DX and ICE, the Hindi total rises to ₹ 6.18 crore. The Telugu dubbed version has made around ₹ 3 crore, mainly from 2D screenings, while the Tamil version has so far earned about ₹ 9.34 lakh. Andhra Pradesh leads advance and blocked ticket sales with an estimated ₹ 2.57 crore, followed closely by Telangana at ₹ 2.34 crore. Maharashtra also stands at ₹ 2.34 crore, while Delhi and Karnataka have reached ₹ 2.03 crore and ₹ 1.04 crore respectively. The numbers are promising but War 2 has a high benchmark to match. The first War (2019) opened with ₹ 53.35 crore and went on to make ₹ 166.25 crore in its first weekend, eventually grossing ₹ 318.01 crore in total. Whether the sequel can match or exceed this will depend on its run after release. Meanwhile, the Rajinikanth starrer Coolie is ahead in the weekend box office race, securing ₹ 24.59 crore in advance bookings. With blocked seats included, its tally rises to ₹ 32.64 crore. Despite the clash, both War 2 and Coolie have already secured a combined ₹ 50 crore in weekend earnings from advance ticket sales alone. With one day still remaining, the totals are expected to climb further.
