Political Parties Condemn Terror Attack
Nellore: Leaders of various political parties condemned the brutal killing of software engineer Somisetty Madhusudhan Rao by terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir.
Kavali TDP MLA D. Venkata Krishna Reddy called the act highly unfortunate, highlighting Madhusudhan's humble background and career at IBM in Bangalore. He urged the central government to take strict action and said he would attend the last rites in Kavali.
YSR Congress city incharge P. Chandrasekhar Reddy called for unity beyond party lines in condemning the attack and demanded preventive measures.
BJP leader and RTC Chairman S. Suresh Reddy termed the attack cowardly and blamed Pakistan-backed terrorists for trying to disrupt peace in the valley.
Namami Ganga State convener M. Ramesh echoed similar sentiments, accusing Pakistan of targeting tourists to spread fear.
Janasena Party lowered its flag in mourning, while Congress district president C. Devakumar Reddy blamed the NDA government and urged both central and state governments to support victims' families.

Concerns were raised about the potential negative impact of the India-Pakistan conflict on the investment environment and the safety of South Korean companies. Meanwhile, Japan, Malaysia, and Indonesia raised questions about the current state of tourism in India. Sources say the Indian delegation assured South Korea about the stability of India's economy and the safety of its investments. Indian MPs stated that India is poised to surpass Japan as the world's fourth-largest economy. They added that India does not give significant weight to Pakistan, and the limited conflict was a countermeasure to Pakistan's policy of promoting terrorism. It was clarified that ASEAN countries do not support terrorism in each other's territories, unlike Pakistan's actions towards India. QUESTIONS ON UKRAINE-RUSSIA WAR AND ISRAEL-HAMAS WAR AND INDIA'S STAND Similar questions were raised about India's stance on the Ukraine-Russia war and the Israel-Hamas war. The delegation reportedly informed the visiting nations that India's stance has consistently favoured peace, and its response to Pakistan should not be misconstrued as offensive. They explicitly clarified that India's stance was not neutral but one taken in favour of peace. Several delegation members who travelled to Muslim-majority countries requested that the government consider establishing a stronger voice on platforms like the OIC, where India lacks membership and hearings are perceived as one-sided due to Pakistan's membership. The delegations explicitly pointed out to all visited nations the need to present India's perspective in meetings like those of the OIC and FATF. Delegation members also suggested improved engagement with foreign journalists, many of whom have published articles critical of India despite the narrative being against Pakistan. These delegation members reportedly informed the EAM that Western media has been unfavourable during their visits. Regular engagement with Western media by the Indian government could improve this situation. WHAT EAM SAID The External Affairs Minister thanked each delegation member for representing India, acknowledging their efforts despite domestic political differences. He also conveyed that feedback from ambassadors and consulates in these countries has been very positive. 'Prime Minister Narendra Modi wants me to take down the feedback that you have brought back home, and we are doing it in all seriousness," Jaishankar is reported to have said to the delegation, according to sources who spoke to Network 18. 'Your interactions over there must have been a lot more engaging and open because, normally, during government-to-government interactions, things are generally formal," the EAM reportedly conveyed. He also indicated the possibility of more such interactions in the future. On Friday, two other delegations will meet with the External Affairs Minister, including one led by Supriya Sule and Dr Shrikant Shinde. On Wednesday, two delegations met with Jaishankar. One team was led by DMK MP Kanimozhi and the other by Sanjay Jha of JDU. On Tuesday, upon their return, Jay Panda led the delegation to meet with the External Affairs Minister after their trip to Middle Eastern countries. Of the seven delegations dispatched globally, five have returned. Ravi Shankar Prasad and Shashi Tharoor's delegations are expected back within the next few days. Indian MPs' World tour builds narrative on Pak-based terror
Indian MPs cutting across party lines have been able to create a strong narrative against Pakistan-based terror infrastructure around the world, from Japan to Colombia and the US to Africa, Russia, Southeast Asia and West Asia over the last two weeks. While most delegations are back in India after their multi-nation tours, the delegation from the US is expected to return on Friday. Speaking at the National Press Club in Washington DC on Wednesday, Congress MP Shashi Tharoor, who is leading an all-party delegation to the US to brief key stakeholders on Operation Sindoor, dismissed the Trump administration's claim that its trade diplomacy played a major role in averting a full-fledged military conflict between India and Pakistan. During the visits, key stakeholders and ministers from across countries extended strong support to India's fight against cross-border terror as each delegation made presentations on the Pahalgam terror attack, Pak-based terror infrastructure and Operation the delegation led by Tharoor convinced the Colombian government to withdraw a statement criticising India, another delegation led by JDU MP Sanjay Jha was successful in sensitising Japan on the menace of cross-border terror. Immune from any cross-border illegal migration and extremism, the Japanese society remains passive to the threat of cross-border terror, experts on Japanese affairs pointed Brazil, the Tharoor-led delegation delivered a message on cross-border terror infrastructure which could assist in shaping the BRICS bloc's position on terrorism at the upcoming summit in Rio De Janeiro on July 6-7. The visits to Egypt and Indonesia were significant as both are attempting to blunt the Pakistani narrative in the Organisation of Islamic Conference meetings. While Indonesia (having the world's biggest Muslim population) has a principled position against any secessionism and terrorism, Egypt has a strong stance against terrorism and extremism. Similarly, visits by MPs to Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and the UAE were critical to reaffirm India's security partnerships. In Algeria, the Jay Panda-led delegation was successful in driving home the point of common threat from Pakistan-based Sierra Leone and Liberia often do not receive senior-level political figures from India and therefore the trips by MPs to these countries, which are getting into the UN Security Council as non-permanent members, were important. Both Liberia and Sierra Leone extended special gestures to back India's approach on cross-border the visits to Russia and France by MPs reaffirmed India's strong security and defence partnerships with the old strategic partners, the trips to Italy, Slovenia, Latvia, Spain and the UK were significant to drive home the point how India has been a victim of relentless state-sponsored cross-border terror. MEETING IN THE US In the US, the Tharoor-led delegation met the leadership of the Congressional Caucus on India and Indian Americans in the 119th Congress, co-chairs Rep Ro Khanna and Rep Rich McCormick and vice co-chairs Rep Andy Barr and Rep Marc Veasey. The parliamentary delegation briefed the caucus members on the cross-border terrorism faced by India. The Congressmen expressed unequivocal and bipartisan condemnation for the terror attack in Pahalgam.

Russian President's Aide Credits Trump for Halting India-Pakistan Hostilities

New Delhi: After repeated assertions by the US president, a senior aide to Russian President Vladimir Putin has now also credited Donald Trump with halting the fighting between India and Pakistan, saying the issue came up during a recent phone call between the two leaders. The conversation took place on Wednesday (June 4), following which Yury Ushakov briefed the media in Moscow. An English-language transcript of his remarks was uploaded to the Kremlin's official website on Thursday. The primary focus of the call was Ukraine's drone strikes on Russian air bases, with Putin reportedly warning Trump of a strong response. Towards the end of his remarks, Ushakov stated that other global hotspots were also discussed, during which the India-Pakistan conflict came up. 'Additionally, the Middle East was discussed, as well as the armed conflict between India and Pakistan, which has been halted with the personal involvement of President Trump,' he said. India had launched Operation Sindoor on May 7, targeting nine terror-linked sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. The strikes followed the April 22 attack in Pahalgam that killed 26 civilians, most of them tourists. Pakistan responded with its own military actions, triggering a rapid escalation involving drones, artillery and air defence systems. Since the end of the military conflict on May 10, Trump has claimed to have brought an end to the hostilities by mediating between India and Pakistan. The state department had even termed it as a 'US-brokered' ceasefire. He later asserted that he prevented a war by using trade as leverage over both countries – an assertion that has made its way into a legal filing. In a signed declaration to the US Court of International Trade, US commerce secretary Howard Lutnick cited Trump's threat of import tariffs as a key factor in stopping the escalation. The filing was part of the US government's defence of Trump-era global tariffs. So far, Trump had been the only foreign leader repeatedly referring to his role in halting the conflict, often bringing it up in interviews and White House events. The latest remarks from the Russian side now appear to bolster that narrative. The US version, however, runs counter to India's official position. India has stated that the decision to end hostilities was taken following direct communication between the Indian and Pakistani militaries without any external mediation. India has also asserted that trade was never discussed in any phone conversation between Indian and US leaders. With Trump's claims now echoed by Moscow, the issue could become more politically charged in India. The opposition, particularly the Congress, has accused Prime Minister Modi of buckling under US pressure and compromising India's long-held position of avoiding third-party mediation. Congress MP and the party's communications general secretary Jairam Ramesh on Thursday asked on X if Modi will 'clarify' how the ceasefire played out in light of Ushakov's remarks.
