New Black Mirror series features these Kent locations
Well-known locations across Kent have featured in the latest season of Black Mirror. Created by Charlie Brooker, the dystopian Netflix TV series looks at the darker sides of life and society through technology. Three spots in Kent appear in an episode exploring past memories, according to the Kent Film Office. Season 7 of Black Mirror, which originally aired on Channel Four, was released on Thursday.
Herne Bay Pier
Herne Bay's pier has already featured in productions such as Joan, Heartstopper and Kate & Koji. Now it can add Black Mirror to the list. Sue Halfpenny, a trustee at Herne Bay Pier Trust, told the BBC she was "loving" the coverage. "The more people we can get on the pier, the better," she said. She added the filming was "so secretive", with no-one at the Trust allowed to talk or mention it. Ms Halfpenny said they did not see anything, other than fake seagulls being wiggled around on poles by members of the film crew. "I guess the ones we have here weren't tame enough," she jokingly added.
The Beacon House
Fans of the show will also be able to spy The Beacon House in Whitstable. The wooden house, built in the early 1900s, has views of the Thames Estuary and a large surrounding garden. Rupert Symons, who helps run the house, said he was "delighted and excited" Netflix filmed at the site. "The team were here for a few days and were a pleasure to host," he told the BBC.
Tankerton Beach
Beacon House backs onto Tankerton Beach, which also features in the show. Visit South East England calls the shingle beach and wooden groynes "reminiscent of an England that is so familiar in postcards of old".Perhaps now it will be familiar from somewhere else too.

Meghan Markle honours Harry in heartfelt Father's Day message
Meghan Markle has shared a heartfelt message on social media to mark Father's Day. Shortly before midnight Meghan shared a video on Instagram showing Harry alongside Archie and Lilibet, set to the song Have It All by Jason Mraz with the caption: "The best. Happy Father's Day to our favorite guy." The compilation showed photos and videos of Harry laughing, dancing and spending quality time with his children through the years. The new Father's Day post comes as Meghan has been sharing more and more of her life at home with Harry and their two children on social media. Just last week, she shared an intimate video of the family celebrating Princess Lilibet's fourth birthday at Disneyland. The post on Instagram showed the family enjoying rides at the California attraction, drawing comparisons with Harry's childhood trip to Florida's Walt Disney World with Diana, Princess of Wales, in 1993. The montage also features a clip of Archie, six, and Lili meeting Disney princess Elsa, from the film Frozen. Meghan wears a Minnie Mouse hat in some of the snaps featured in the video, while another image shows a two-tier Little Mermaid-themed birthday cake for Lili. It came just days after posted a video of herself twerking in a bid to bring on labour while pregnant with Lilibet. In the clip, a heavily pregnant Meghan is shown dancing in a hospital room to the Starrkeisha song Baby Momma, alongside the Duke of Sussex. She posted on her Instagram to celebrate Lili's fourth birthday last week, writing: 'Four years ago today, this also happened. 'Both of our children were a week past their due dates… so when spicy food, all that walking, and acupuncture didn't work – there was only one thing left to do!' The candid video, which runs for more than a minute, also features Harry, who is seen dancing in and out of the frame. He is beckoned in by Meghan as the pair dance together, with the duke appearing at the end with the hood of his grey hoodie up as he continues his dance moves. Meghan is wearing a black maternity dress and cradles her large bump as she dances, as well as lifting her skirt above her knees, raising her hands in the air and wiggling low with her hands on her hips and legs. The release of the footage is one of the more unusual ways a member of the royal family has marked a royal birthday. Former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond previously told the Mirror: "I suppose Meghan is showing the children more on Instagram because she knows there is a public appetite for photos of them. But she's being very coy about allowing us to see what they really look like. "That's fair enough, if she wants to protect their privacy - though you could certainly argue that there's a very fine line between using them to publicise her Instagram account and her determination to keep their family life private. "With both children at school, she and Harry will obviously have a bit more time to pursue their various activities. Meghan seems to be ramping up her projects more and more, but I think they will both continue to put their family first - just like William and Catherine. And there's nothing wrong with that if you are lucky enough to be able to do so." Be first to get the biggest royal bombshells and exclusives to your phone by joining our . BBC presenter becomes choked up during heartfelt Father's Day announcement
BBC One presenter Duncan Newmarch has jerked the nation's tears once again thanks to his Father's Day tribute. Newmarch has been presenting BBC shows for the last 21 years, introducing some of the channel's biggest programmes. However, his latest piece of work evoked an especially emotional response from viewers at home. Just before announcing tonight's episode of Race Across the World, Newmarch took a moment to recognise Father's Day. The BBC One broadcaster read out: 'Whether you are with your dad, chatting on the phone, or just missing him… happy Father's Day from BBC One.' Wake up to find news on your TV shows in your inbox every morning with Metro's TV Newsletter. Sign up to our newsletter and then select your show in the link we'll send you so we can get TV news tailored to you. Newmarch took to X to share a clip of his announcement, adding the caption: 'A difficult line for me to read this year. Hope you're with your dad or have spoken to him.' The famous voice lost his dad, Douglas Newmarch, in July 2016; hence why those particular words were so difficult to read, as he was doing so for the first time since his own father's death. @CHG3899 took to X to share their thoughts on the special announcement, writing: 'Aww that was lovely Duncan.' Another X user, @cl_clarke, expressed their connection to the announcement: 'Missing him…still…33 years for me this year.' @chriswilliams76 also remembered one of Newmarch's previous emotional voice-overs: 'It's nearly five years since your continuity piece before the Strictly final went viral about the fact that Christmas wasn't the Christmas we had all hoped for…' Indeed, this isn't the first time Newmarch has made viewers cry, as he was responsible for the viral announcement before the Strictly Come Dancing final in 2020. In December that year, as the UK was facing stricter Covid-19 rules, Newmarch spread a heartwarming message in an attempt to keep spirits high in those tough Tier 4 days. The message said: 'Now, in a year that has kept us apart, whether you're watching in Tyne and Wear, Devon, Berkshire, or Lincolnshire… we are all watching BBC One together.' Newmarch tweeted following the announcement, expressing the raw emotion behind it: 'Thank you for the kind comments about my line into the @bbcstrictly final. 'After this afternoon's news I had to rewrite a handful of scripts as they didn't seem appropriate. This is why live announcers can make a difference.' The announcement soon spread as his words resonated with so many people across the nation who were all losing hope in togetherness as the country faced the unknown. Many viewers expressed their gratitude on social media, with one user tweeting: 'It made me cry a little bit, because it was unexpected but perfectly put. Thank you.' Others praised the sincerity and warmth of his words, highlighting the comfort they found in his announcement. More Trending Newmarch was also praised by TV critic Scott Bryan, who said: 'As many people have pointed out, those touching poignant words came from @DuncanNewmarch.' He later wrote back to declare his pride for his profession, saying: 'Thanks Scott. After the PM's announcement, some of tonight's lines (written yesterday) just didn't work so I had some last-minute rewrites. View More » 'Here's to the live announcers across all channels.' BBC Strictly Come Dancing 'signs up' Gladiators star after show controversy
BBC Strictly Come Dancing 'signs up' Gladiators star after show controversy Strictly Come Dancing bosses are said to be 'in talks' with a Gladiators star for the 2025 series Gladiators' Nitro, also known as Harry Aikines-Aryeetey, is set to join the 2025 series of Strictly Come Dancing. The 36-year-old has previously graced the BBC show's dance floor. In the 2024 Christmas special, he partnered with professional dancer Nancy Xu, 33, and their performance earned them one of the highest scores of the night—an impressive 37 points for their Street/Commercial routine. The former Olympic sprinter caught the attention of the show's bosses, who are keen to have him on board for a full season of the popular dance competition, now in its 23rd year. It's hoped that he can juggle his commitments with Gladiators, which typically films over the summer months. Strictly usually kicks off in August, but contestants are confirmed weeks prior and start training immediately to build their confidence before the live shows commence. They were in talks last year but couldn't get the timings to marry up with his work," reports the Mirror, whih has reached out to the BBC and Harry's representatives for comment.. Article continues below The source added: "He was a huge hit at Christmas prancing around in spandex and showing off his biceps. Producers were also impressed with his dancing." An insider also suggested that the addition of Nitro could draw a fresh audience to Strictly, as producers aim to replicate the family-friendly success of Gladiators. Strictly has faced its share of controversy and criticism in recent years, with allegations of misconduct by professional dancers and celebrity participants behaving inappropriately. Last year, Go Compare singer Wynne Evans caused a stir when he was seen touching dancer Katya Jones inappropriately. Further scandal ensued during the 2025 Strictly Live Tour when off-colour remarks made by Evans behind the scenes were leaked. Jamie Borthwick, another participant from the 2024 series, found himself embroiled in controversy this month following revelations that he used a derogatory term to describe the residents of Blackpool during the show's filming there. The previous year, Strictly was overshadowed by accusations from actress Amanda Abbington who claimed she was mistreated by professional dancer Giovanni Pernice. A BBC investigation was launched while Giovanni left the show, maintaining his innocence throughout. Harry appeared in the 2024 Christmas special where he danced with Nancy Hu (Image: BBC Studios/Guy Levy ) In another incident, professional dancer Graziano Di Prima confessed to accidentally kicking his celebrity partner Zara McDermott during rehearsals, leading to his departure from the show. Strictly Come Dancing is set to grace our screens once again this year, with the familiar judging panel of Shirley Ballas, Anton Du Beke, Motsi Mabuse, and Craig Revel Horwood all confirmed to return. There's speculation that this season could be Craig's last on the show, as he previously declared he would leave after reaching 60. Craig celebrated his 60th birthday this year, leading some viewers to worry that he might bow out after the forthcoming series. Yet, it seems he may have had a change of heart regarding his departure. Article continues below Speaking to The Mirror, he remarked: "I have no intention of quitting because it's a fantastic Saturday job that I intend to do into my 80s, as long as I'm still compos mentis, darling! and if I haven't been cancelled before then!".
