MASH cast now – Emmy Award winning star to one woman show
M*A*S*H first started in 1973 and spanned for a decade and 11 seasons. The iconic show saw plenty of well-known faces rise to fame, being part of the series.
The show was a comedy-drama which followed the staff at the United States Army Mobile Army Surgical Hospital (MASH) during the Korean War which was between 1950 to 1953. The programme drew audiences across the world, with the final episode in 1983 reportedly bringing in an audience of more than 125 million viewers.
The main cast all reunited back in January 2024 as they got together for a two hour reunion episode where they reminisced on the show. Here's what the original cast are doing now.
Loretta Swit
Loretta Swit played the role of 'Hot Lips' Major Margaret Houlihan and appeared in every episode including the pilot and went on to star in Whoops Apocalypse, S. O. She went on to win two Emmys throughout her career as well as landing role in The Love Boat and Cagney & Lacey throughout the 1980s.
Aside from this, Loretta didn't have an acting credit after this, apart from the film Play The Flute in 2019. However, she starred in a one-woman touring stage production of Eleanor: Her Secret Journey as Eleanor Roosevelt in 2013.
It was announced on Friday, May 30, 2025, that Loretta had died at the age of 87. Her representative, Harlan Boll, claimed that the New York Police Department stated that the actor died of suspected natural causes.
Alan Alda
Alan Alda was Captain Benjamin Franklin 'Hawkeye' Pierce, who was known as a prankster on the series. Alan's acting career went from strength to strength after M*A*S*H ended.
He starred in a number of TV shows like The Blacklist, Horace and Pete, Marriage Story, Bridge of Spies and The Big C. His most recent work includes starring as Dr Arthur Amiot on Ray Donovan and as Solomon Waltzer on The Good Fight.
Wayne Rogers
Captain 'Trapper' John McIntyre was played by actor Wayne Rogers. However, he was one of the shortest serving actors as he decided to leave after three series.
It was reported that he wanted to leave due to appearing as a supporting role rather than a main character. After leaving, Wayne starred in Murder, She Wrote, Once Upon a Murder and House Calls. He died in 2015 when he was 82 after complications from pneumonia.
McLean Stevenson
McLean Stevenson took on the role of Lt. Col. Henry Blake in M*A*S*H. However, like Wayne Rogers, he also decided to leave after series three.
His character was then killed off which ended in backlash from angry viewers. After leaving, Stevenson starred in the Dirty Dancing TV series, The Love Boat, Tales of the City and Diff'rent Strokes.

Emmerdale confirms new drugs horror as big new story kicks off
Dylan Penders' (Fred Kettle) return to Emmerdale came as a very welcome surprise for April Windsor (Amelia Flanagan). The young man who befriended her when she was living on the streets after running away from home had returned to the village after completing a stint in rehab. He was clean of drugs, he told April, although it was clear that Dylan is still mixed up in some very dodgy stuff. For one thing, there was a nasty wound on his leg, which viewers know was caused by a pitchfork wielded by Kyle Winchester (Huey Quinn) after he caught Dylan and another person lurking in the barn at Butlers. As the days have gone on, the wound has become infected. The fact that Dylan has been living in the cricket pavilion hasn't helped, and he's steadfastly refused to go to A&E because he knows that some serious questions would be asked about how he was injured. So in Monday (August 4)'s episode, Dylan was in a bad way and starting to get feverish. April knew something had to be done, and as she has access to a fully functioning vet's surgery she took him there. To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video As she rummaged through the medical supplies April said she planned to sterilise the wound. Somewhat less confidently she added that she might have a go at stitching it. Luckily before we had to witness the carnage that might have ensued from that, an actual vet appeared in the form of Paddy (Dominic Brunt). He quickly assessed the situation, and realised that Dylan wouldn't be persuaded to see a doctor and without treatment could mean he'd lose his leg. 'He'll look like a balloon animal in an hour,' Paddy insisted. It's an enduring image. So at the risk of his career, Paddy stitched up the wound himself and gave Dylan the antibiotics left over from when he was bitten by a dog, and swore Dylan and April to secrecy about what he'd done. Then he said Dylan could stay at his and Mandy (Lisa Riley)'s house, where Marlon (Mark Charnock) and Mandy were somewhat shocked to find him. More Trending Later, on Paddy's suggestion, Mandy took Dylan and April to the Hide for a pizza. While Dylan was outside alone, he was approached by drug dealer Ray (Joe Absolom) who gave him some cash and pretended to be concerned about Dylan's injured leg – which of course had happened while Dylan was on a job for him. And Ray said he had a 'tiny' new job for him. Back at Tenants, Paddy was cross that Dylan had stayed out when he was supposed to be resting his leg. And when Dylan returned and Mandy was out of the room we saw that Dylan's rucksack was full of drugs. It looks like Ray's 'tiny' job wasn't so tiny after all, and Dylan has been roped into Ray's latest drug dealing scheme. In coming episodes Dylan will be torn between the genuine help and support offered by April, Paddy and others, and Ray's manipulation which could threaten his entire future – and his life. View More » Fred Kettle told us: 'Dylan knows he's doing the wrong thing but it's more morally correct than what he was doing when he was back on the streets. I feel like there's a few different routes it could go down.' If you've got a soap or TV story, video or pictures get in touch by emailing us soaps@ – we'd love to hear from you. Tesco's birthday cake sandwich is leaving shoppers divided
It comes just weeks after a similar "strange" strawberries and cream sandwich from M&S also made headlines. The new Tesco cake is causing a divide, with some shoppers loving it, but others not so much. Tesco's birthday cake sandwich is leaving shoppers divided A photo was shared of the new Tesco sandwich on the Money Saving Central Facebook group, which has already received hundreds of comments. One person said: "Absolutely not, just when strawberries and cream couldn't get worse." Another added: "Maybe if it was cake cut to look like a sandwich I'd have it but not if it's on bread. Yuck." The sandwich has also been discussed on the Tesco page on Reddit. One confused person said: "What am I actually looking at?" Another described the sandwich as "utter filth", and another said it was "weird". UK Supermarket Rankings 2025 However, not everyone disagrees with the flavour, with some looking forward to trying it. "This reminds me of when I tried sprinkles on buttered bread. Game changer," said one. A second person said: "Is it just me who actually wants it." Some shoppers also compared it to Fairy Bread, which is popular in Australia. Often served at parties, it is sliced white bread spread with butter or margarine and covered with sprinkles. New viral sandwich after M&S controversy The divide over Tesco's new sandwich comes after the M&S strawberries and cream sandwich made waves in the supermarket community. The £2.80 'game-changing' limited edition Red Diamond Strawberry & Creme Sandwich was inspired by Japanese 'sweet sandos', or fruit sandwiches, M&S said. It is filled with the fruit and light whipped cream cheese on fluffy, sweetened bread. Recommended reading: Many described the product as "weird", but many others enjoyed the creation. M&S Food first sold freshly made sandwiches in the 1920s, and expanded sales with pre-packed sandwiches in the 1980s. The retailer's food halls have sold four billion sandwiches to date.
