Initially, three routes connected to the operational stations, New Ashok Nagar and Anand Vihar of the Delhi Section, were mutually identified.
These buses, while operating on their usual routes, make a stop at Namo Bharat Stations' dedicated drop-off lanes, allowing commuters to easily board and deboard. The three identified routes include New Ashok Nagar Namo Bharat Station to Anand Vihar ISBT, Anand Vihar ISBT to Ashok Nagar Border, and Ashok Nagar Border to Mayur Vihar Phase-3 Paper Market.
These buses operate on these routes between 6.30 am and 11 pm, connecting areas like Chilla Village, Sapera Basti, New Kondli, Dallupura, Ghazipur Village and Mandi, Dharamshila Crossing, and Trilok Puri to the Namo Bharat network. "This seamless integration has made high-speed travel to Ghaziabad and Meerut more accessible for residents in these localities," said an official of National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC), which is executing the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut corridor.
The official said NCRTC was making continuous efforts to provide fast and environment-friendly travel options to and from Namo Bharat stations. "E-rickshaws and last-mile service providers like Rapido are already operating at several stations in Ghaziabad. Now, the integration of electric buses started under the Devi (Delhi Electric Vehicle Interchange) scheme marks another step forward in this direction," said the official.

This first- and last-mile connectivity encourages people to use public transport instead of private vehicles. This initiative will help in providing a long-term solution to the problems of traffic congestion and jams on the roads, along with environmental pollution, said the NCRTC official.

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Friday inaugurated a newly-constructed DTC bus depot at Sector A9, Narela, and flagged off over 100 new Delhi Electric Vehicle Interchange (DEVI) buses, marking a major milestone in Delhi's push toward sustainable public transport. The electric buses, designed to provide clean, efficient, and comfortable public transportation, are part of the city's larger initiative to combat pollution and improve last-mile connectivity under the DEVI initiative. Speaking at the event, Minister Singh underlined the environmental significance of the development. "Pollution has always been a major issue in Delhi, but this time you would have noticed there hasn't been any situation that led the NGT to impose any bans. This is a new step towards a pollution-free Delhi. To provide people with a pleasant travel experience, electric buses have been introduced," he said. Highlighting the growing importance of the Narela region, Chandoliya said, "Today, 105 electric DEVI buses are being flagged off from here. Many big government projects and universities are coming up here in Narela." Minister Singh praised the rapid development and quality of the new facility. "This terminal has been built in just 90 days and has been inaugurated with all modern amenities. For drivers, conductors, and the general public, RO drinking water and a large EV charging centre have been set up here," he said. The launch of the 105 electric buses from the Narela depot marks a significant leap in Delhi's efforts to reduce vehicular emissions while ensuring modern and accessible transport facilities for its residents. The newly-inaugurated bus terminal will serve as a critical node in the expanding electric public transit network of the national Capital and reduce traffic pollution in the years to come.

IWAI takes key decisions related to inland waterways; approves DPR for ship repair facility at Patna
New Delhi: The Inland Waterways Authority of India (IWAI) on Wednesday took several key decisions related to the inland waterways transport (IWT) sector, including setting up three tourist jetties and a Regional Centre of Excellence (RCoE) in Assam, and setting up the Indian Waterway Congress on the lines of the Indian Road Congress to identify and adopt best global practices in the waterways sector. It also entrusted NTCPWC (National Technology Centre for Ports, Waterways and Coasts), IIT Madras, with preparing the detailed project report (DPR) for the upcoming ship repair facility at Patna in Bihar. The decisions were taken at the IWAI board meeting held in Delhi. For IWT development in the North East, the IWAI Board approved the proposal to set up three tourist jetties in Silghat, Bishwanath Ghat, and Guijan and one tourist-cum-cargo jetty in Neamati in Assam. These jetties will help address the growing demand for cargo and passenger movement by providing improved infrastructure and services in the region. It will offer better connectivity with regional and national tourist circuits through inland waterways and help stimulate economic growth through trade and tourism-related activities throughout the North Eastern Region, a ministry of ports, shipping and waterways statement said. Further, the IWAI Board approved the proposal for the development of the Regional Centre of Excellence in Bogibeel, Assam. With a training capacity of 5,396 participants, the proposed centre will serve as a dedicated hub for training, research, and capacity building in the IWT sector. It will address the acute shortage of skilled manpower in the northeast by offering certified training programmes aligned with the Inland Vessels Act, 2021. To further enhance the IWT infrastructure in the North East, the board also approved a proposal to develop 2,154 sq mtr land in Fancy Bazar, Guwahati, through Indian Port Rail and Ropeway Corporation Ltd (IPRCL). The IWAI Board also commissioned DPR for the Patna Ship Repair facility. Minister of ports, shipping, and waterways, Sarbananda Sonowal, announced the setting up of this new facility at Patna on National Waterway-1 at last week's consultation workshop in Bihar. Besides, the board approved an extended port gate system that will be developed by the Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port at Balagarh in West Bengal. The board also decided to set up the Indian Waterway Congress to identify and adopt best global practices in the waterways sector, promote standardisation, and deploy cutting-edge technologies for sustainable growth in the IWT sector. In addition, the board also approved the cadre review report for the National Institute of Smart Government to restructure IWAI, which will prepare IWAI to meet the growing challenges of the IWT sector and achieve the targets for enhancing cargo and cruise tourism. IWAI is presently working to increase the capacity of NW-2, NW-3, and NW-16 by developing IWT terminals, fairways through end-to-end dredging contracts, navigational aids like night navigation facilities, and navigational locks, among other things.

Namo Bharat: Lost and found centre opened at Ghaziabad station
NEW DELHI: The NCRTC on Tuesday launched a Lost and Found centre at Ghaziabad Namo Bharat Station to help reunite commuters with items accidentally left behind or lost on trains or at stations along the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut corridor. 'To date, more than 160 forgotten valuables of commuters have been returned to their rightful owners. The items include laptops, smartphones, watches, documents, wallets, earbuds, Bluetooth devices, luggage, iPads, keys, books, and clothes,' NCRTC official said. Namo Bharat train operations began in October 2023 and currently run along a 55 km stretch from New Ashok Nagar in Delhi to Meerut South. The government has also introduced the Namo Bharat Connect App, which enables commuters to report and track lost belongings through its 'Lost and Found' feature. Once an item is identified, owners can retrieve it at Ghaziabad station after verification or contact station controllers via the app or helpline (08069651515) for immediate assistance. 'Items lost at the station can be claimed within 24 hours,' the official added.
