When will US respond to Lebanese paper?
Lebanon is still waiting for the U.S. response to its 'dual' response to U.S. envoy Tom Barrack's paper, which according to ministerial sources is not expected to be very imminent, Asharq al-Awsat newspaper said.
The U.S. response might 'take some additional days,' the sources added.
'The U.S. side is looking into the Lebanese response, which was not limited to the paper presented by President Joseph Aoun but also included the remarks submitted (separately) by Speaker Nabih Berri,' the sources said.
'Accordingly, it is looking into the differences between the two papers as well as the identical aspects, which might take some time,' the sources added.
'The Lebanese side is still waiting for a phone call from the U.S. ambassador to Beirut, who is supposed to relay the response which is mainly based on the removal of Hezbollah's arms according to what was agreed on in the latest meetings,' the sources went on to say.
Lebanese presidential circles meanwhile told al-Joumhouria newspaper that the U.S. will respond to the official Lebanese response and also to "Hezbollah's proposals" at the end of this month.
Barrack had said that he was very satisfied by the Lebanese response to the U.S. paper while warning that Lebanon risks being left behind as change sweeps other countries in the region.

From Shebaa Farms to Mount Hermon: Israel resets its northern war map

Report by Amal Shehadeh, English adaptation by Mariella Succar Israel has placed the Lebanon-Syria border area at the top of its intelligence and security priorities. Under the pretext of countering Hezbollah's ongoing efforts to smuggle weapons, Israel revealed details of a recent airstrike targeting the border area at the foot of Mount Hermon. According to the Israeli account, the strike destroyed weapons depots and combat equipment weighing three tons, including anti-tank mines, dozens of explosive devices, and rockets. The Israeli military has since reshuffled its operational priorities in the region, intensifying surveillance and assigning military tasks—particularly in the Shebaa Farms and adjacent Syrian territories—to the 810th Heharim Regional Brigade. Military officials in Israel's Northern Command have warned that the current situation on the Lebanese front is unsustainable, especially what they described as delays in making a decisive decision to dismantle Hezbollah's military capabilities. As part of what it calls efforts to prevent Hezbollah from rebuilding its military strength, the Israeli army stated in a recent report that it has informed the ceasefire monitoring committee of 1,200 violations of the agreement. Of these, 650 were conveyed to the Lebanese army, which, according to Israeli claims, has only addressed 52 percent of them. This contrasts with multiple reports from the committee highlighting significant efforts by the Lebanese military. In a recent assessment session, Israel's Northern Command reprioritized its missions regarding Lebanon. At the top of the list are monitoring and tracking members of Hezbollah's Radwan Force and targeting Hezbollah's efforts to restore its firepower, which Israel claims poses a serious threat to its home front.

Washington calls on Lebanon to set deadline for state control over Hezbollah arms: Sources to LBCI

Sources told LBCI that Lebanese officials have received a response — delivered via the U.S. Embassy — to the proposal they had submitted to American envoy Tom Barrack. According to sources, Lebanon is currently studying the reply, the core of which stresses the need for Lebanon to commit to a clear timeline for placing Hezbollah's weapons under the control of the state. The response sets a firm deadline, calling for this process to be completed no later than the end of this year.
