Jennifer Lawrence Says Pregnancy Hormones Helped Her Performance in ‘Die, My Love'

Jennifer Lawrence has revealed that she was five months pregnant during the filming of Die, My Love, and her pregnancy actually helped her tap into the emotional intensity of her role.
Speaking at the Cannes Film Festival, the Oscar-winning actress shared that she felt 'great' during the shoot, crediting her hormones for giving her the energy and clarity needed to portray a complex character — a new mother experiencing a mental health crisis.
'A part of what she's going through is the hormonal imbalance that comes with postpartum,' Jennifer explained. 'But she's also having an identity crisis. 'Who am I as a mother? As a wife? As a sexual person to my husband? As a creative?' And I think she's plagued by this feeling that she's disappearing.'
Jennifer, now 34 and a mother of two, said the physical and emotional state of her pregnancy helped her connect deeply with the character.
'I was four-and-a-half, five months pregnant when we shot. I had great hormones. I was feeling great, which really was the only way I could dip into some of this visceral emotion,' she said.
The actress, who shares a son, Cy, and a second child born in March with husband Cooke Maroney, also previously admitted to experiencing self-doubt before becoming a mother.
She confessed that she didn't know what to expect from motherhood or how she would handle the life-changing experience — a struggle that reflects the emotional journey portrayed in Die, My Love.
