Ministerial Committee Mandated by Joint Extraordinary Arab-Islamic Summit expresses strong condemnation, categorical rejection of Israel's intention to impose full military control over Gaza
The joint statement said, "We consider this announcement a dangerous and unacceptable escalation, a flagrant violation of international law, and an attempt to entrench the illegal occupation and impose a fait accompli/ facts on the ground by force, in contravention of international legitimacy.
"We affirm that this declared course of action by Israel constitutes a continuation of its grave violations, including killing and starvation, attempts at forced displacement and annexation of Palestinian land, settler terrorism, which are crimes that may amount to crimes against humanity. Such actions obliterate any opportunity for peace, undermine regional and international efforts towards de-escalation and peaceful resolution of the conflict, and exacerbate the severe violations against the Palestinian people, who have faced for nearly two years a comprehensive aggression and blockade affecting all aspects of life in the Gaza Strip, alongside serious violations in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.
"In light of this dangerous development, we assert the following:
The immediate and comprehensive cessation of the Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip, and an end to the ongoing violations committed by the occupying forces against civilians and civilian infrastructure in the Gaza Strip, the West Bank, and East Jerusalem.
The demand that Israel, as the occupying power, immediately and unconditionally allow the entry of humanitarian assistance at scale into the Gaza Strip, including food, medicine, and fuel, and ensure the freedom of operation of relief agencies and international humanitarian organizations, in accordance with international humanitarian law and its applicable principles.
Support for the efforts undertaken by the Arab Republic of Egypt, the State of Qatar, and the United States of America to achieve a ceasefire and reach an agreement for the exchange of prisoners and hostages, as a fundamental humanitarian entry point to de-escalation, alleviating suffering, and ending the aggression.
The immediate commencement of the implementation of the Arab-Islamic reconstruction plan of the Gaza Strip, and the call for active participation in the upcoming reconstruction conference to be held in Cairo.
Rejection and condemnation of all attempts to displace the Palestinian people from their land in Gaza and the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, and the affirmation of the need to preserve the legal and historical status quo in the Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem, while recognizing the key role of the Hashemite Custodianship in this regard.
The affirmation that a just and lasting peace can only be achieved through the implementation of the two-State solution, ensuring the realization of an independent Palestinian State on the Jun. 4, 1967 lines, with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with the principles of international law and relevant United Nations resolutions.
"We hold the Israeli occupation fully responsible for the ongoing genocide and the unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe taking place in the Gaza Strip, and calls upon the international community, particularly the permanent members of the Security Council, to assume their legal and humanitarian responsibilities and to take urgent action to stop Israel's illegal aggressive policies aimed at undermining prospects for a just and lasting peace, eliminating any horizon for the implementation of the two-State solution, and ensuring immediate accountability for all violations committed by Israel against international law and international humanitarian law, including those amounting to genocide.
"We also underscore the need to implement the outcomes of the High-Level International Conference on the Peaceful Settlement of the Question of Palestine and the Implementation of the Two-State Solution, held in New York co-chaired by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the French Republic, including the urgent operational time-bound measures contained in its final outcome document to end the war in Gaza and the implementation of a political path to achieve the comprehensive peaceful settlement of the Palestinian question and the implementation of the two-State solution."

Hamas condemns Israel's ‘systematic destruction' of Gaza
Hamas has said that for about a week, the Israeli military has been heavily assaulting the eastern and southern neighbourhoods of Gaza City, particularly Zeitoun. At least 26 people were killed while seeking aid, and another 175 were injured. At least 1,924 Palestinians have now been confirmed killed and 14,288 injured while seeking aid. According to the ministry, Israel has killed at least 10,362 people and wounded 43,619 others since March 18, when it broke the previous ceasefire agreement and started a total blockade of aid. Disarmament plan could trigger civil war, warns Hezbollah chief
dpa Cairo Hezbollah chief Naim Qassem has warned that a Lebanese government plan to disarm his Iran-allied movement could spark a new civil war in the country. Earlier this month, the government tasked the army to draw up the plan by August 31, and approved the 'objectives' outlined in a US proposal concerning Hezbollah's disarmament. Qasim on Friday lashed out at the government, holding it responsible for potential unrest in the country that experienced a 15-year civil war starting in 1975. 'This government is implementing an American-Israeli order on terminating the resistance even if this leads to a civil war and internal sedition,' he said in a televised address. 'The government has taken a very dangerous decision violating the charter of co-existence and it [the government] is exposing the country to a big crisis.' Qasim vowed that his Shiite Muslim group would not hand over its weapons while Israel continues attacks on Lebanon. The issue of Hezbollah's weapons has long been a flashpoint in Lebanese politics. Supporters view the group's arsenal as essential for defence against Israel, while opponents argue it undermines state sovereignty and risks dragging Lebanon into conflict. On Friday, Qasim said Hezbollah and its ally, the Amal movement, had agreed to delay street protests, which could reach the US embassy, against the disarmament plan to allow for discussion with the government 'There would be no life for Lebanon if you stand on the other side,' he said. In response, Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam rejected what he described as Qasim's veiled threat of civil war. 'No one in Lebanon today wants civil war. Threats and brandishing them are completely rejected,' he said on the social media platform X. Salam defended his government's decisions, saying they are purely Lebanese without foreign dictates.

France lambasts Israeli West Bank settlement project
France on Saturday condemned an Israeli project to construct 3,400 settlement units in the occupied West Bank, stressing that the move constitutes an egregious breach of international law. France condemns, in the strongest terms, the decision of the Israeli authorities approving the settlement project E1 (East 1), which allows the building of 3,000-plus residential units in East Jerusalem, a spokesman of the French Foreign Ministry said. France sees that such a settlement project will carve up the West Bank into two portions and dangerously erode the two-state solution, as the latter is the only way capable of ensuring enduring peace and security for both Israelis and Palestinians. The European nation emphasized that it still acts alongside its European partners to step up pressure on Israel to put an end to the colonization, including through imposing new sanctions on individuals and entities responsible for this colonization, the French spokesman underlined.
