Range Rover Sport SV Sets New SUV Benchmark at Yas Marina Circuit
The Range Rover Sport SV has rewritten the rulebook for luxury performance SUVs, delivering a record-breaking lap time of 2:20.405 at the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi. This achievement marks the fastest lap ever recorded by both an SUV and a four-door production vehicle on this iconic track.
This milestone reinforces Range Rover's position at the forefront of high-performance luxury mobility, merging groundbreaking innovation with unmatched power. The lap was expertly completed by Emirati racing driver Saeed Al Muhairi, who piloted the vehicle in its standard production configuration—underscoring the model's factory-built excellence in handling, technology, and comfort.
At the heart of the Range Rover Sport SV lies a 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine, producing an impressive 635 horsepower and 750 Nm of torque. Capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.8 seconds, this is the most powerful Range Rover ever engineered. Designed for exceptional road dynamics, the vehicle features the revolutionary 6D Dynamics suspension system—an industry-first, hydraulically linked setup that eliminates traditional anti-roll bars while ensuring extraordinary composure under hard cornering and rapid acceleration.
Braking performance is equally advanced, with massive 440mm front discs—part of a Brembo Carbon Ceramic braking system—setting a new standard for stopping power in the SUV segment. These brakes are paired with ultra-lightweight 23-inch carbon fiber wheels that help shave off 76 kg of unsprung mass, boosting agility and responsiveness. A quad exhaust system adds to both performance and the assertive sound signature of the vehicle.
Visually, the SV model asserts its dominance with a carbon fiber hood and bold exterior accents that highlight its performance-oriented identity. Inside, the experience is equally elevated. SV Performance Seats provide secure support for spirited driving, while the pioneering Body and Soul Seat integrates audio-synchronized vibration technology, immersing occupants in a multi-sensory experience that transforms music into a physical sensation.
Bruce Robertson, Managing Director of JLR MENA, emphasized that setting this record at one of the world's most demanding circuits demonstrates the brand's relentless pursuit of innovation. He stated that the Range Rover Sport SV stands as the ultimate fusion of brute strength and refined luxury, redefining expectations in the high-performance SUV category.
More than just a lap record, the performance at Yas Marina showcases the Range Rover Sport SV's engineering superiority. With its class-leading powertrain, advanced chassis and suspension systems, and an interior crafted for immersive comfort, the SV sets a new standard for dynamic luxury—delivering exhilarating performance without compromising the iconic sophistication synonymous with the Range Rover name.

Mercedes Acknowledges Customer Loss Following V8 Engine Removal in the New C63
In 2022, Mercedes-Benz took a bold step by swapping the beloved twin-turbo V8 in the AMG C63 for a four-cylinder hybrid system. Although the new C63 boasts advanced technology and increased power, it has struggled to capture the excitement and emotional connection of its predecessors. This shift has alienated some loyal customers, with a portion of the brand's core audience moving away due to their preference for V8 engines. The leadership at AMG has recognized these challenges, noting that while the new C63 represents a remarkable engineering achievement, its benefits were not communicated effectively. Efforts to educate sales teams and customers about the advanced hybrid technology fell short, leading to mixed reception. However, Mercedes remains confident in the vehicle's capabilities and is determined to better highlight the strengths of the new C63 in the future. Despite its cutting-edge features, the new C63 has been criticized for losing the visceral appeal of the V8. The additional weight from its hybrid batteries has further diminished its emotional allure, even as its specifications stand as a testament to engineering excellence. Specifications of the New C63 for 2025 The AMG C63 S E Performance is powered by a plug-in hybrid system (PHEV) that combines a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder gasoline engine producing 476 hp and 542 Nm of torque with a 9-speed automatic transmission. An electric motor generating 204 hp and a two-speed transmission further enhance the system, delivering a combined output of 680 hp and 1,020 Nm of torque. This makes the new C63 the most powerful production C-Class ever created. Weighing 2,111 kg, the high-performance hybrid accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.4 seconds. Its top speed is electronically limited to 250 km/h, with optional packages available to increase it to 270 km/h or 280 km/h, depending on configuration. Price of the New C63 In the UAE, the new C63 is available starting at $148,645, or approximately 545,900 Emirati dirhams. While the car showcases remarkable technological advancements, its reception has been hindered by the absence of the iconic V8 engine and a lack of initial customer engagement. Mercedes continues to address these challenges, hoping to restore the excitement that once defined the AMG C63 legacy.
