MAGA-affiliated musician takes stage east of Ottawa after NCC pulls permit
A Christian rocker affiliated with U.S. President Donald Trump played to more than 100 people in Alfred and Plantagenet, Ont., on Saturday afternoon after he was prevented from holding a free concert in Gatineau, Que. The National Capital Commission (NCC) had refused to issue a permit for Sean Feucht to play in Jacques-Cartier Park, which is managed by the Crown corporation. Feucht, who unsuccessfully ran for U.S. Congress as a Republican in 2020, is also a missionary and an author who has spoken out against the 2SLGBTQ+ community, abortion rights and critical race theory. He has called for government policy in the United States to be based on traditional Christian values in the midst of a "spiritual war" in that country. The NCC said Wednesday evening it had consulted with the Gatineau Police Service and would not allow Feucht to play in the riverside park, citing "concerns about public safety and security." The refusal to issue the permit echoed similar decisions made by other Canadian municipalities, including Quebec City, Moncton and Charlottetown. CBC/Radio-Canada asked for an interview with Feucht on Saturday but the request was denied. Alfred and Plantagenet Mayor Yves Laviolette said he was unaware of the concert until he was alerted by the media and then later by Ontario Provincial Police. "We're just trying to be prepared for whatever consequences are going to happen," Laviolette told Radio-Canada before the concert. "Hopefully it's going to be very docile."

3 arrested after early-morning stabbing in North Vancouver: police
Social Sharing Three women have been arrested after an early-morning stabbing in North Vancouver on Saturday, with police saying two of them needed hospitalization for their injuries. North Vancouver RCMP say that they were called around 2:45 a.m. PT on Saturday after reports of a distraught woman near the Lonsdale Quay bus loop. Police say she had stabbing injuries, and they later found two other women on the second floor of a building above the bus loop. One of them also had similar injuries. According to police, the three women were involved in a dispute and an assault occurred, and they think the stabbings are isolated in nature. "There was a dispute between the parties, who were known to each other, before the alleged assault occurred," said Cpl. Mansoor Sahak in a statement. Police say the three arrested women are in their early 20s. Of those three, the two who were injured were also hospitalized, one with minor injuries and the other with serious injuries. Police say anyone with more information on the case should contact them.

'If someone can survive this, it's him': Cousin of missing kayaker remains hopeful
Social Sharing Chloé Allain says if she or anyone else in her family were missing, her cousin Luc Bourgeois "would not be sleeping right now, he'd be looking for us." The 34-year-old Bourgeois was reported missing on Thursday after he departed in a kayak from the Pointe-du-Chêne wharf near Shediac around 1 p.m. to go on a fishing trip. Allain said family members have also organized their own searches, with over a hundred people looking for her cousin in different areas, including Prince Edward Island. "It's just not his time to go yet," she said. "He is somewhere just waiting to be found and we are going to find him," she said. Allain said Bourgeois's kayak was found along with his phone and life-jacket, but there was no sign of Bourgeois himself. Bourgeois is described as being about five feet six inches tall and 170 pounds, with long curly brown hair, a beard and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing black shorts, a blue and grey life-jacket, a Bass Pro Shops hat, sunglasses and black Under Armour sandals, according to police. On Friday, the search for Bourgeois included helicopters, boats and a drone. The Coast Guard's Joint Rescue Coordination Centre was involved in initial search efforts, but said Saturday the search was in the hands of RCMP. On Saturday, the RCMP confirmed the search continues, but provided no other updates. Allain said she's "not tapping out" and is hopeful her cousin will be found alive. "He is strong and if someone can survive this, it's him," she said.
