Killers of the Flower Moon actor's sad final post before dying aged 45

Samuel French, a Texas-born actor best known for his turn in Martin Scorsese's Killers of The Flower Moon, passed away last Friday. He was 45.
Filmmaker Paul Sinacore, who wrote and directed French's upcoming historical drama Towpath, confirmed the news to The Hollywood Reporter. Sinacore claims French passed away Friday in a hospital in Waco, Texas, after a years-long battle with cancer that had spread through his body.
'Samuel was a dear friend and an incredible actor,' Sinacore said in a statement shared on Instagram.
'Towpath wouldn't exist without him, and the incredible intensity he brought to the role of Det. Bernard Crooke set the tone for the entire film. Together we were on an extraordinary journey, giving everything we had to realise a shared creative vision.'
In what was to be one of his final Instagram posts, shared two weeks ago, French hinted towards his ill health with a selfie taken while receiving an IV drip in his arm.
'Getting IV for much needed hydration,' he wrote.
French delivered a memorable performance in Killers of the Flower Moon, in which he played undercover FBI agent CJ Robinson investigating the Osage murders.
The late actor's other credits include an appearance in Fear the Walking Dead, The Mark of a Killer, and Cherry Town 2023. He also appeared in The Pro Bono Watchman, Joe Haladin: The Case of the Missing Sister, and Pegasus: Pony with a Broken Wing.
His most recent on-screen role was as Joel Sharp in the 2024 crime thriller Blood Dried Hands.
In 2024, French received an award for Best Supporting Actor at the Los Angeles Film Awards for his performance in Monsters Within. He also won Best Actor at the Liverpool Indie Awards for his turn in Blood Dried Hands.
Per THR, French is survived by his daughter Madison and his girlfriend, Melinda, as well as his parents Gary and Darlene; and his brothers, Andy and Danny.

Jelena Dokic opens up about father's death
It's been nearly a month since Jelena Dokic announced her abusive father's passing, and she is still trying to work out how she feels. In May, Jelena confirmed the death of her 67-year-old father, Damir, on social media, who subjected her to years of torment, abuse and physical violence on and off the in the booth of a cafe in Melbourne, the former No. 4 tennis player-turned-commentator and public speaker told NewsWire she knew her father's death 'would happen at some stage' but is still 'working through' her grieving process, which is more complicated than she anticipated. 'I've been estranged from my father for nearly 10 years, and it is what it is,' she said. 'The one thing I'm realising … whether you've had a good experience with a parent or a bad one, it comes with a complicated kind of grief, closure, or the way that chapter ends.'She found out about her estranged father's death while she was 'right in the middle of work and a lot of commitments', leaving her without much room to process the loss. 'For me, it's different type of grief,' she told NewsWire. 'Maybe not even grief, but more so like closure or a chapter that's kind of finished, but from an estranged parent.' Growing up concealing the abuse and suffering she lived with every day led to feelings of shame and fear, building up emotional walls to shield her painful experience from others as she tried to fight the battle alone. A self-admitted introvert, it hasn't been easy for her to develop trustworthy and loyal relationships over her career, as a combination of constantly travelling the world in tennis tournaments and the abuse she was subjected to by her father put a pin in any chance of forging meaningful connections with others her own age. 'Some victims of and survivors of domestic violence and abuse … are not allowed to make friends,' she told NewsWire. 'Anyone that gets close, (the abuser will) get rid of them, especially when we're young.' 'Making friends for a very long time was not even possible, but then later it was difficult because I didn't kind of have those social skills,' she said. She wants others who may have experienced or currently living through similar circumstances to know they are 'not alone', and they're braver than they realise. 'If we can change things for that one person and be there for them, be kind and loving and accepting, you can literally not only change someone's life, but save their life.' Passionately parched In February, Meghan unveiled the launch of her lifestyle brand, As Ever, previously American Riveria Orchard, through an Instagram video.
