Killers of the Flower Moon actor's sad final post before dying aged 45
Samuel French, a Texas-born actor best known for his turn in Martin Scorsese's Killers of The Flower Moon, passed away last Friday. He was 45.
Filmmaker Paul Sinacore, who wrote and directed French's upcoming historical drama Towpath, confirmed the news to The Hollywood Reporter. Sinacore claims French passed away Friday in a hospital in Waco, Texas, after a years-long battle with cancer that had spread through his body.
'Samuel was a dear friend and an incredible actor,' Sinacore said in a statement shared on Instagram.
'Towpath wouldn't exist without him, and the incredible intensity he brought to the role of Det. Bernard Crooke set the tone for the entire film. Together we were on an extraordinary journey, giving everything we had to realise a shared creative vision.'
In what was to be one of his final Instagram posts, shared two weeks ago, French hinted towards his ill health with a selfie taken while receiving an IV drip in his arm.
'Getting IV for much needed hydration,' he wrote.
French delivered a memorable performance in Killers of the Flower Moon, in which he played undercover FBI agent CJ Robinson investigating the Osage murders.
The late actor's other credits include an appearance in Fear the Walking Dead, The Mark of a Killer, and Cherry Town 2023. He also appeared in The Pro Bono Watchman, Joe Haladin: The Case of the Missing Sister, and Pegasus: Pony with a Broken Wing.
His most recent on-screen role was as Joel Sharp in the 2024 crime thriller Blood Dried Hands.
In 2024, French received an award for Best Supporting Actor at the Los Angeles Film Awards for his performance in Monsters Within. He also won Best Actor at the Liverpool Indie Awards for his turn in Blood Dried Hands.
Per THR, French is survived by his daughter Madison and his girlfriend, Melinda, as well as his parents Gary and Darlene; and his brothers, Andy and Danny.

My Chemical Romance have hinted at a UK tour. The Teenagers rockers are currently on the North American leg of their Long Live The Black Parade stadium tour and have dates booked in South America and Asia next year. And on Friday (08.08.25), the group suggested they could also be planning a return to the UK after sharing a new video featuring an old-school TV game show called Quizzo. In the clip, the host said: 'Our two fine contestants will help us learn who will be the next lucky country to win the grand prize of one nuclear winter." After a player pushes a big button, the host revealed: 'Congratulations, United Kingdom!' The post caused fans in the comment to query whether it meant some new tour dates are to be announced soon. This isn't the first time the group have sparked speculation with a cryptic post because last month, fans were convinced new music was on their way. A picture depicting a stage light was captioned on the band's Instagram: "A dagger, a dagger, Please fetch me a dagger." The art also features the clue "Time: 7:11:25:00". Sadly for fans, new material didn't materialise and it seemed to be a reference to the start of their Long Live The Black Parade stadium tour in the US. In 2022, MCR released their first new music in a almost decade, the single The Foundations of Decay. In February, Frank Iero kept tight-lipped on rumours about a new My Chemical Romance album. The guitarist and backup vocalist insisted that there was no news to tell with regards to new material. Asked if there is anything to 'report' about a follow-up to 2010's Danger Days: The True Lives Of The Fabulous Killjoys, he told NME: 'No, sorry. 'When that stuff – if that stuff were to happen, we will tell you. We will tell you in the way we want to tell you.' The 43-year-old musician also stayed schtum about the Long Live The Black Parade Tour heading across the pond to the UK. He said: 'It's been long-documented that we are huge fans of the UK – this is a home away from home for us. 'We've done things where the first place we played for a record release was the UK. It's always felt like a place that we love and that we hold very dear. But, to tell the future? It would be remiss to do that.'

Malcolm-Jamal Warner was 'at peace' when he died
Malcolm-Jamal Warner's mom believes he was "at peace" when he died. The Cosby Show star tragically died last month at the age of 54 after drowning whilst on holiday in Costa Rica and his mother Pamela Warner has now spoken about the tragic loss for the first time, reassuring fans her son "did not suffer" and had "completed" his time on earth. In a lengthy tribute shared on the new Malcolm-Jamal Warner Living Legacy Instagram page, she wrote in part: "For those of you who are at a loss, pained by the suddenness of his departure, ache for his presence or just to hear his voice one more time, to see his beatific smile one more time, be comforted that he was at peace and more importantly, he did not suffer. "Malcolm was birthed through water and transitioned through water. 'This was his time. His mission on earth had been completed. "Hold close to whatever part of Malcolm's life that touched yours. In keeping it near, you keep his spirit alive — nourishing you with the peace, love, joy and light that embodied Malcolm-Jamal Warner." Pamela's statement began with praise for her "exceptional" son. She wrote: "Needless to say our hearts are heavy with the loss of Malcolm. He was a kind, loving man with a huge heart for humanity... Malcolm was an exceptional husband, father, and son — a man deeply in love with life, his wife, and his daughter. He was not only my son, but also my teacher, coach, confidant, business partner, and best friend. He was the son that his father was immensely proud of and loved fiercely and unconditionally." Pamela recalled how the Suits actor - who she also managed - was "in love with the magic" of his career and "always studying and honing" his craft, before going on to praise his other career accomplishments. She wrote: "He began his musical journey a little later in life, at 26. "A poet as well as a musician, he released four albums — two Grammy-nominations and one Grammy award. "At eight years old, after his first stage performance, he declared that being on stage was what he wanted to do for the rest of his life. It became a self-fulfilling prophesy. Malcolm left an indelible mark on the world and on countless hearts. All who met him, however briefly, were better for the encounter." Pamela could "fill volumes" with all that she could say about Malcolm-Jamal. She added: "I am so very blessed that he chose me to be his mother, to come into the world through the waters of my womb. "It is an honour and blessing that will be with me all the days of my life."
