Prince Harry is 'out of his depth' in Hollywood and 'can't survive without Meghan'
Prince Harry might struggle to make it in Hollywood without Meghan Markle by his side, according to industry insiders.
A fresh Channel 5 documentary titled Prince Harry: My Terrible Year examines the couple's challenging 2025, which has seen them hit with a string of setbacks regarding their Netflix partnerships.
With reports surfacing that their whopping $100million Netflix contract won't be extended due to disappointing programme performance and viewing figures, specialists suggest Meghan is better positioned to recover from these professional blows than Harry.
Daily Mirror Royal Editor Russell Myers commented: "We had Heart of Invictus and the Polo series, and then we had Changemakers, and the figures across the three series were pretty abysmal," particularly when compared to their explosive tell-all documentary which smashed Netflix viewing records.
Harry's Invictus documentary reportedly managed to attract just 300,000 viewers, whilst Meghan's lifestyle programme With Love, Meghan garnered mixed critical reception but secured stronger audience numbers and earned a second series commission, reports the Express.
PR Week UK Editor John Harrington observed: "They were seen as having these incredible opportunities such as this Netflix deal, but it looks like they've wasted them, they haven't amounted to much, and people are starting to see there isn't a lot of substance to them."
Tom Quinn, author of Yes Ma'am, The Secret Lives of Royal Servants, concurred with John's sentiments, remarking: "Meghan and Harry really aren't making a success and it is because they think they're really talented, when actually they're not, one is an actress and one is an ex-royal, they're not directors or producers."
Meghan has been dubbed the "more resilient" of the two, her early start in the acting world credited for her toughness. Journalist Bidisha Mamata observed: "There is a difference in this couple's central levels of resilience, Meghan Markle grew up without any privilege whatsoever, she was a jobbing actress, she had to work in this very cutthroat and sleazy industry which could be very fair.
"Meghan will be fine, I think she will cut ten or 20 deals and make one of them stick. Prince Harry doesn't have his wife's resilience or her level of attack, or her idea of 'if this doesn't work, I'll try another thing', he doesn't have her ability of going to the boardroom and saying 'here's 20 other things we could have a go at'."
The documentary also mentioned that despite facing numerous harsh setbacks, Meghan simply "kicks on to the next one" and is considered "more of a hustler than Harry", who finds himself in unfamiliar territory.
Harrington summed up: "She has got more skills to deal with the post royal life and a lot of these things come easily to her than Harry, who has never needed to develop these skills because of the royals."
These comments from Royal insiders are likely to be a significant blow to Harry, who has previously expressed his wish to mend fences with his brother William and father King Charles, both of whom appear reluctant to rekindle their relationship with him.

Woody Allen without the zingers: Materialists reviewed
Celine Song's first film, the wonderful Past Lives (2023), earned two Oscar nominations. So expectations were riding high for Materialists. Perhaps way too high. And, yes, it's a letdown. It feels like an early Woody Allen but blunter, shallower, with no zingers, and a lead character that's hard to care about. Dakota Johnson is our lead, playing a matchmaker who has two dreamboats (Chris Evans, Pedro Pascal) vying for her hand and throughout I was thinking: I should have your problems, love. It's billed as a romcom but those who expect that will be disappointed. It's more an essay on modern dating. Johnson, whom we have forgiven for her horrible performance in that horrible adaptation of Persuasion – we don't hold grudges – is Lucy. She works for a swanky Manhattan dating agency called Adore (ugh) that deals exclusively with the rich elite. She sees marriage as a business transaction in which people are buyers or sellers. The montage of clients' demands and feedback from first dates – too fat, too short, too old, too balding, 'I would never swipe right on that' etc. – is fun but only one client gets any real attention. This is Sophie, a 39-year-old lawyer who fears dying alone. She is played by Zoë Winters who steals the film from under everybody despite it being a minor role. Lucy attends the wedding of one of her clients and here she meets Harry (Pascal, gliding into view in a way that put me in mind of Omar Sharif). He's a 'unicorn' – hot, rich, tall, full head of hair – but, what do you know? At the same event, serving as a 'cater waiter', is John (Chris Evans). He's her ex, an out of work actor who – a flashback informs us – she left because they were always broke. He still wants her but Harry also now wants her. I wondered why, as she comes across as neither interesting nor especially bright. Midway through there's an act of violence and she is forced to reflect on the nature of her work and you think, you've never reflected on that before? Wake up and smell the coffee, lady! As an exploration of the tension between love and money the film is surprisingly unsubtle from the word go. The opening scene involves a prehistoric cave couple – I thought I was in the wrong screen! – which even sets out the film's stall when it comes to marriage, albeit in a laughably clumsy way. Lucy, meanwhile, has the following dilemma on her hands. Should she be seduced by Harry's $12 million penthouse or return to broke John? (Harry! He has silk sheets!) This leads her to question whether we might be worth more than our 'tangible assets' but is that taking us anywhere new? What is new, I suppose, is how far people will go to 'add value' to themselves these days but that involves a surgical subplot that I can't go into as it would take us into spoiler territory. The characters feel like cinema characters rather than character characters. They have no friends, no family, no interests beyond the dating scene. The film is talky, with some sharp dialogue, but no fresh insights. A good actor has something going on behind the eyes that the audience wants to know about and I'm not sure I ever get that with Johnson. Evans and Pascal bring A-list pizazz but no chemistry is ever ignited. I only ever felt for Sophie whom the film abandons just as she's always been abandoned. Poor Sophie. And why does Lucy have to choose? Why not neither? Is this saying marriage is the pinnacle of a woman's achievement? It's lushly photographed and beautifully framed and it's not a nightmare to sit through but whereas Past Lives stayed with you, I can feel this leaving me already.

This week, sources have claimed the alleged incident saw Harry retaliate after being "antagonised" by influencer Moe. They said: "Harry is clearly really enjoying being able to attend amazing events like the Brits but at the event he and Moe clashed. It got physical. It was a drunken scuffle. Throwback snaps have seen the star almost unrecognisable A Love Is Blind star looks unrecognisable in throwback pictures taken before their bodybuilding stint and reality TV appearance. The popular Netflix dating show is back for season two after its huge success last year. A brand new group of hopeful singles are all taking part in the unique experiment in the hopes of finding their life partner. But basing their bond on emotional connections, it is only when they decide to get engaged will they meet face to face. After going on "dates", secluded in their own pods, it is hoped the participants will find the one without the initial physical attraction. And the new series has been back with a bang, with the first four episodes being released today (August 13), already bringing relationship drama and love triangles. But there is one star who is almost unrecognisable from his old throwback pictures. Gym Owner Kal is 32-year-old hailing from Wigan and he hopes to find his future wife on the show. Despite having relationships in the past, none have lasted longer than a year. His dad is Pakistani and his mother is English and he is part of a large, close-knit family. But seeing two of his brothers happily married and one with a baby has spurred him on to find a girl he can build a future with. On the show, Kal is seen building a connection with Sarover, who was born into a modern Indian family and has never dated outside of her ethnicity. Despite this, and despite not being Kal's "type", the two seemingly hit it off as they date within their pods. As a gym owner, Kal is in quite good physical shape and often takes to his Instagram page to share his own physical improvements. One old post is him during a body building competition, posing and showing off his muscles in an incredible transformation. In another post, Kal praises his fitness journey as he showed where he was then compared to an even older photo. He wrote: "So glad I started training .... wow." Kal made his Love Is Blind debut today as the first four episodes were released. But fans will have to wait until next week to find out what is in store for the gym owner.
