Daily Mirror18-06-2025
System Shock 2 is getting the remaster treatment, bringing the classic sci-fi survival horror game to a whole new audience. But when can you actually play it?
System Shock 2 is making a return with a fresh new look, and soon you'll be able to utilise its multiplayer feature to assemble a team and finally defeat Shodan.
It appears there's no better time to launch a game about the takeover of a malevolent AI (despite having seen it numerous times before), so we're fortunate to be receiving a new remaster of System Shock 2. The sci-fi survival classic is set for a grand return following the significant remake of the first game, introducing the PC game to a wider audience with a fresh new look that makes it even more terrifying than ever. This comes as a treat for science fiction fans, especially with the arrival of a remastered Warhammer 40K: Space Marine on Xbox Game Pass.

The classic has undergone the remaster process, marking a significant shift from its predecessor's remake, which successfully captured the original game's remarkable atmosphere, narrow corridors and eerie happenings around every heavily-plated corner. Fans of survival games certainly have much to look forward to, with Prologue Go Wayback's numerous playtests and the massive Fallout 76 Gone Fission update.

There are plenty of futuristic horrors lurking in the halls of Von Braun, but when exactly can we get our hands on it?Here's what you need to know about the System Shock 2 remaster release date.
System Shock 2 remaster release date
The release date for the System Shock 2 remaster is scheduled for Thursday, June 26 at 1pm local time, excluding most American timezones. This information has been disclosed by the game's PlayStation Store page.
The 1pm release time applies to worldwide timezones and the East Coast of the US, while other American timezones will see the game launch at whatever this time equates to in their region, which is 10am PDT / 12pm CDT on the West Coast and in central areas.
While it's a somewhat perplexing system, it does ensure that players globally will have the opportunity to delve into the remaster at their own speed, familiarising themselves with the corridors of Von Braun before everyone is set to dive into multiplayer and defeat Shodan once and for all. It's undoubtedly a daunting task, but it's what many players are aiming to achieve, so assemble your team and get the job done.

Antiques Roadshow guest tragically dies just years after life-changing valuation

A young American guest who appeared on Antiques Roadshow has tragically died. A guest on Antiques Roadshow has died tragically just a few years after receiving a life-changing valuation on the programme. ‌ The BBC antiques show, loved across the nation since its launch in 1979, has become a staple of weekend viewing, reports the Mirror. ‌ The young dad's death was announced as the American version of the show picked up an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Structured Reality Program. ‌ As the US spin-off celebrated the nomination, its official social media page shared a poignant story of how one valuation transformed a family's fortunes overnight. PBS executives posted a special segment revisiting some of the show's most unforgettable moments, featuring American stoneware expert David Rago. In 2005, David met an astonished visitor called Tom, who had brought along an 1880 jug passed down through generations. Tom explained: 'This piece belonged to my grandmother, and when she sold her house, the grandkids and the kids could choose different things. This is the piece that I always wanted, so my name was on this one for a long time.' David proceeded to assess the massive jug at an incredible $65,000 (£48,264) to $85,000 (£63,115) before disclosing what the antique actually fetched at auction. ‌ He informed viewers: "That was filmed on the Saturday. On the Monday morning the phone rang, it was Tom, our guest. He said: 'Were you serious about the price? Because we could really use some money '. "And I brought the piece to the Philadelphia Antique Show in April of 2005. The first person in the door purchased it for $110,000 (£81,679). I remember calling Tom that night. They told me that for the first time in their lives, they had enough in their bank account to now apply to adopt a child, a baby boy from Guatemala." ‌ Tragically, Tom only had four years as a dad before he passed away at the age of 46. David added: "The bittersweet part of the story is that, sadly, four years later, Tom passed away at the age of 46. "Carol, his wife, had written to me and told me about it and thanking me for the moments and the good times that Tom had on Antiques Roadshow, and that their wonderful, adorable Henry was now in their lives. It's a story of what Roadshow can do to change someone's life." ‌ During a later segment, David was reunited with Tom's family and young Henry, who has now finished secondary school, and even brought back the family pitcher they had sold to fund the adoption. That money being used for the adoption and then telling me Tom died. Talk about a one-two punch of emotions." Another concurred: "What a heartwarming and tragically heartbreaking story. Thank you for sharing it with all of us. I know it touched others as much as it did me."

"Because before she worked a normal job, and had no followig, she's never had this amount of attention in her life. "I've let her know that we've just come off one of the biggest shows in the UK and everybody in the UK watches it." "Like we went shopping the other day and she gets swarmed by the little girls like people calling her 'icon'. American visits Tesco and is blown away by UK vs US differences

Blogger Kalani Ghost Hunter delighted shoppers with his observations about British supermarkets An American who visited Tesco for the first time was wowed by the differences between UK and US supermarkets. Blogger Kalani Ghost Hunter documented his family's shopping experience on his popular TikTok account @Kalanighosthunter. ‌ In his video, he was accompanied by his mum, who had never visited any UK supermarkets before. Kalani explained: "This is the first time my mum has ever been in a UK grocery store, and I want to show her the cheese aisle. ‌ "Okay, so take a look at all the different kinds of cheese they have. This one's really good here if you like a very strong blue cheese that's a solid one." His mum replied: "They're got more varieties of cheese than we've got. It's like they have a lot more produce than we have to." She added that she thinks the groceries are cheaper. ‌ Continuing his Tesco shop, Kalani went on: "Now, mum, this is the weirdest thing. They have eggs on the shelf, not refrigerated." She replied: "Wow. Yeah, big difference. It means they're fresher eggs." Next, Kalani turned his attention to the meat on offer. "This is something that I've really struggled to find back home in America, when I'm trying to do a fry up, is back bacon. Here, there's plenty of variety for back bacon, but at home, it's really hard to find. With back bacon comes the sausages. It's hard to find this style of sausage at home. There's a lot of different sausages, but it's hard to find this style." He was also impressed by a meal for two offer. "I've never seen this," the shopper shared." It's a Tesco meal for two. Sweet and sour chicken and chicken chow mein in a box. There's even prawn crackers up top. That's crazy, £6.50. I mean, I don't know how it tastes, but for two people, that's wild." Last but not least, the American family stopped by the toiletries aisle to pick up Lynx Africa body spray. The video went viral, gaining over 20,000 likes and hundreds of comments. Several viewers were amused to see the family had added Lynx Africa to their shopping list. One viewer replied: "Lynx Africa is a right of passage for all young UK teens!!" ‌ Another wrote: "Ha! Lynx Africa is like catnip for tweens!" Someone added: "Lynx Africa was the popular one in the 90s hes an old soul! my teen boy likes the excite one," and a commenter shared: "I'm 46 and I used Lynx Africa as a teen." More praise read: "Your brother is a proper UK teen with all the lynx Africa. I used to use that stuff like my life depended on it." A fan added: "I think all uk teenage boys smell of lynx Africa, then upgrade to 1million aftershave when they get first weekend job, rite of passage clearly."
