Manchester United face new humiliation as mouse droppings found in health review

Daily Mirror20-05-2025
Sir Jim Ratcliffe has endured a woeful time of things since arriving at Old Trafford and the Manchester United stadium has been hit with another scathing review
Manchester United's iconic Old Trafford home appears to be going out on an awful note as mouse droppings were allegedly found in another woeful hygiene review. The Red Devils' current stadium was hit with a brutal blow in December upon the first review.
United saw their rating fall from four stars all the way down to two. The past few months have been spent attempting to fix the issues identified in that review but it doesn't appear to have worked.

According to Mail Online, the fresh report has offered a number of concerns. It is suggested that mouse droppings were found across seven areas of Old Trafford including the Ambassador Lounge, the Manchester Suite and under the buffet bar in the Number 7 suite - the latter of which is dubbed as one of the most stylish spaces in the stadium, with prices starting at around £550.

Supporters are also charged around £600 for tickets in the Manchester Suite where a 'large number of droppings' were found as per the report. As quoted by The Mail, a United spokesperson said: ' Manchester United implements a robust pest-control system throughout Old Trafford.
'Multiple weekly checks are made in all catering areas and stringent measures are taken to ensure levels of hygiene and cleanliness are high wherever food is stored, prepared and served. If incidences of this nature do occur at the stadium, immediate and appropriate action is taken.'
Away from the suites, the report revealed a number dirty areas, with the labelling of certain foods a particular concern. In United's defence, both of those issues were immediately addressed.
And inspectors noted that 'it is evident that significant work has taken place to control the mice activity on site', while they said that the club 'needs to persevere with the measures being implemented to eradicate activity within food areas.'
The latest Old Trafford report comes just months after plans for a mega-money rebuild of the club was announced. Speaking after the £2bn plans were unveiled, Jim Ratcliffe said: 'The north of England has won 10 Champions League medals, London has two. But London has Wembley, Twickenham, Wimbledon and the Olympic Village.

"The north of England deserves a stadium where England can play football, where we can hold the Champions League final, and one befitting of Manchester United's stature. Our current stadium has served us brilliantly for the past 115 years, but it has fallen behind the best arenas in world sport."

How to watch UEFA Super Cup: Tottenham vs PSG channel, stream and team news

Tottenham and Paris Saint-Germain head to Italy on Wednesday hoping to get their season off to an ideal start in the UEFA Super Cup. Spurs will be playing the Super Cup for the first time thanks to their win over Manchester United in the Europa League final at the end of last season. PSG come in as favourites after they lifted the Champions League in some style, thrashing Inter Milan to complete a brilliant treble. The first official Super Cup was held in 1973 as Ajax hammered AC Milan 6-1 and the event has been held ever since. Real Madrid have won it more than any other side (6), with Liverpool the most successful English team having triumphed four times. In The Mixer: Exclusive analysis, FPL tips and transfer talk sent straight to your inbox every week – sign up, it's an open goal. PSG have made it to the Super Cup just once before, losing 9-2 to Juventus over two legs in 1996. It was a two-legged affair until 1997, with Chelsea winning the first one-legged Super Cup against Real Madrid in '98. The UEFA Super Cup will take place on Wednesday, August 13, with kick-off at 8pm UK time at the Stadio Friuli in Udine, Italy. It is the home of Serie A side Udinese, the stadium has a capacity of just 25,144. There won't be much time for Tottenham to recover after the game as the 2025/26 Premier League season gets underway just two days later. Spurs start their campaign at home to Burnley at 3pm on Saturday. The game is being shown live on TNT Sports and streamed on Discovery+, with coverage starting at 7pm on Wednesday. If the scores are level after 90 minutes, there is no extra-time so the clash will be decided on a penalty shootout. Spurs are dealing with a number of injury issues before the season gets underway, with the likes of Dejan Kulusevski, James Maddison, Radu Dragusin, Bryan Gil and Kota Takai all out. Dominic Solanke and Destiny Udogie have been struggling for fitness in pre-season but have been included in the Tottenham squad for the Super Cup, which suggests they are available to be involved, at least off the bench. More Trending PSG have left goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma out of their squad as he now looks set to leave this summer. The Champions League winners' squad is: 'Chevalier, Safonov, Marin – Hakimi, Beraldo, Marquinhos, Hernandez, Nuno Mendes, Kamara, Pacho – Ruiz, Vitinha, Lee, Zaïre-Emery – Kvaratskhelia, Ramos, Dembélé, Doué, Barcola, Mbaye. The 2024 UEFA Super Cup was won by then Champions League holders Real Madrid, who beat Atalanta 2-0 in Warsaw. The match was significant as it marked Kylian Mbappe's debut for Los Blancos and the forward got off to the best possible start by finding the back of the net after Federico Valverde's opener.
