Matt Henry then needed a six from the final ball to win but only managed a single as Chris Jordan held his nerve, with Fire finishing 125-8 and Jofra Archer taking 3-20.
Hilton Cartwright's unbeaten 51 off just 19 balls proved the difference after Brave's innings had been floundering at 71-5 from 71 balls when he came in at number seven.
Cartwright pummelled five sixes in his knock as Brave recovered to 129-8 on a slow surface against Fire, whose hopes of qualifying for the knockouts are all-but over, with just one win from five matches.
Fire started positively with the ball as New Zealand seamer Matt Henry bowled the second-most economical spell in The Hundred men's compettion with 2-5 - Brave crawling to 18-1 after the powerplay.
James Vince's 29 was the only notable contribution from the top order as Chris Green and David Payne also took two wickets each for Fire.
In contrast, Fire made an explosive start with 46-3 from their first 25 balls as Jonny Bairstow started aggressively, whacking 22 from 10 balls before he was dismissed by Craig Overton.
Archer then removed Steve Smith for 13 before adding Luke Wells and Paul Walter to his tally as Fire's middle order buckled under the pressure.
The win takes Brave to third in the table while Fire remain bottom, according to a BBC news.

'Any time a coach backs you, it gives you confidence and allows you to be yourself," Muyeye reflected. 'The backing I've gotten here has been second to none," he reiterated. Muyeye is patiently waiting for the immigration protocols to fall in place in order to get a permanent residency permit to live in the United Kingdom. 'The end goal is to try to play international cricket. Punjab to build 13,000 rural sports grounds to nurture Olympic talent
Chandigarh, Aug 21 (UNI) To empower budding athletes in Punjab and help them compete at the Olympic and international levels, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has unveiled an ambitious plan to establish 13,000 modern rural sports grounds across the state. Punjab's Rural Development and Panchayats Minister, Tarunpreet Singh Sond, shared that construction work on 3,073 sports grounds in rural villages has already begun as part of the first phase of the project. Sond pointed out that no significant steps had been taken in the past to develop sports infrastructure or ensure the holistic growth of youth. He said that developing sports grounds in rural areas will foster a strong sporting culture, steer youngsters away from drugs, and channel their energy in a positive direction. Highlighting the government's ongoing anti-drug campaign 'Yudh Nashiyan Virudh,' the Minister said Punjab is already witnessing a positive transformation. Once these sports facilities are fully operational, he expressed confidence that the youth will permanently shun drugs. Reiterating the state government's commitment, Sond said efforts are being made to provide both employment opportunities and world-class sports facilities to the youth. Promising international exposure, he announced that renowned sportspersons who have represented India globally will be appointed as coaches to train emerging talent. Notably, Punjab is the first state in the country to offer financial assistance to athletes even before they participate in international competitions, a move that has already yielded promising results.
