Last of Us star Bella Ramsey's forgotten role in CBBC series

The Last of Us star Bella Ramsey boasts a lesser known role as the lead of a CBBC series that fans may not be aware of.
While the actor seemingly burst onto the scene as Lyanna Mormont in Game of Thrones, it didn't take them long to follow up that memorable appearance with a lead role. They starred in the children's show The Worst Witch between 2017 until 2020.
Ramsey played the part of Mildred Hubble in the fantasy drama show based on the books written by Jill Murphy. This was the second live-action adaptation of the series with one previously made by ITV, that aired between 1997 and 2001.
Ramsey only appeared in the first three of the four series as Mildred between the ages of 14 and 17, eventually deciding to leave the show. They were recast, with a storyline written about a magic potion to explain the character's change in appearance.
However, the series only ran for one more season without Ramsey before ending in 2020. All episodes are still available to stream on BBC iPlayer for those interested. Ramsey was reported to have left the show due to mental health reasons.

In fact, they have previously revealed the decision was because they were in a better position and seemingly wanted to leave that part of their life behind. They had previously struggled spending 16 weeks away from home to film the earlier series, and later realised they had developed an eating disorder.
Speaking to Elle in 2023, they said: "I know it's sort of been publicised a lot that I left (The Worst Witch ) for mental health reasons. I would say the more accurate description is that I had resolved a lot of my mental health problems by that point."
They continued: "And then the idea was that, 'I'm not going to do this fourth season because it's not worth it, because I'm in a better place now. This is not something that I want to continue to string out and have the recurring issues that stem from that first season. I don't need or want to do this anymore.'"
As for the show itself, it actually gained a perfect rating on Rotten Tomatoes, with reviewers quick to notice a star on the rise. One wrote: "Bella Ramsey is a kids TV star in the making as the spirited and sweet Mildred, while Meibh Campbell is a brilliant foil as the clumsy Maud."

Another added: "The series is sweet, fun, and a little bit goofy, which is rather what The Worst Witch franchise has always been. It's not groundbreaking children's entertainment, but it is a delightful escape for kids all ages."
Bella's decision to leave the show prematurely did nothing to slow their career down. They went on to appear in the second season of His Dark Materials and anthology drama Time. They also earned role in films such as Catherine Called Birdy and Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget.

With Meghan's As Ever Instagram page becoming more active recently, a snap of the Duchess running in the sea in a white frock appeared over the weekend. The upload was captioned: "So excited for all the good to come! Running into the weekend like." Just hours before the water upload, Meghan had shared a series of heartwarming photos which featured herself, hubby Prince Harry, and their children - six-year-old Archie and four-year-old Lilibet. Lewis Capaldi to make 'huge comeback' with 'secret set' at Glastonbury Festival two years after breakdown
The Scots star is reportedly set to make a grand return to the music scene after taking time out of the limelight Lewis Capaldi is reportedly set to make a huge comeback at Glastonbury Festival after struggling to perform two years ago. The Scots singer is believed to be taking the 'Secret Set' slot on the Friday night of the music festival. The Forget Me chanter is believed to be taking to the Pyramid Stage at the iconic music event after Alanis Morrisette, reports the Daily Mail. It comes after the 28-year-old was forced to apologise to fans throughout his 2023 Glastonbury set as he battled with flailing vocals and a fading voice. The West Lothian native looked visibly frustrated throughout the performance as he made an emotional admission to the crowd. It later came to light that Lewis had experienced an attack of Tourette's Syndrome on stage. The Bruises hitmaker had previously taken time off in the lead-up to the festival to focus on his mental health and told fans on stage he would likely be taking another extended break following the performance. "Look I'm really sorry before we go any further, because this is a pain in the a***," he said. "You've all come out and I'm apologising that my voice is f***ing packing in. Glastonbury I'm really sorry, I'm a bit annoyed with myself here. "I recently took three weeks off, just because I've been non-stop since the start of the year and wanted a break for my head and my mental health. I wanted to come back and do Glastonbury because it's so incredible and I just want to thank you all for coming out. "I was scared but you really made me feel at ease. I'm really sorry, I hope they will let me back on even though it's been a sh**show. "I feel like I'll be taking another break over the next few weeks so you probably won't see me for the rest of the year. But when I do come back and I do see you I hope you're up for watching." In a touching show of unity and support, the crowd sang Lewis' hit Someone You Loved back to him, nearly moving him to tears. Music-lovers also buoyed him up by chanting "Oh Lewis Capaldi". Lewis vanished from the spotlight to adjust to the impact of his Tourette's, saying that it "became obvious" during his Glastonbury set "that he needed to spend much more time getting his mental and physical health in order". "I [need to do this] so I can keep doing everything I love for a long time to come," he added at the time. "Playing for you every night is all I've ever dreamed of, so this has been the most difficult decision of my life. "I'll be back as soon as I possibly can." Tourette syndrome is a neurological disorder that often causes sudden unwanted and uncontrolled rapid and repeated movements or vocal sounds called tics, at times making it difficult for people to speak. Fans were given an insight into Lewis' diagnosis in his acclaimed Netflix documentary, How I'm Feeling Now, which was released shortly before his Glasto appearance. And back in March, singer Yungblud excitedly talked up Capaldi's pending return to music, remarking: "I have heard his new music and it sounds great. He is getting his mental health right.
