Mouni Roy On Being Typecast After Naagin, Sati And Kyunki: 'I've Always Dealt With…'

Last Updated: Mouni Roy opens up on being typecast in Bollywood for her glamourous roles. The actress says she still has been stereotyped since the beginning of her career. From Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi's sweet girl-next-door to the serpent queen in Naagin and the fierce Junoon in Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt's Brahmāstra, Mouni Roy has played it all. Now, she's switching gears and stepping into uncharted territory – she is taking on the role of a spy in JioHotstar's upcoming espionage series Salakaar. While the project marks a fresh chapter in her career, Mouni says the journey so far hasn't been without its labels. She has often been slotted into a certain kind of image – something she has learned to take in her stride. In an exclusive chat with News18 Showsha, Mouni said, 'I have been typecast since the beginning of my career. When I did Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, people said the girl next door can't play a glam part. When I did a few reality shows, dance reality shows, they said I was too glamorous. When I did Sati, they said I was too Indian. When I did Naagin, it was 'she can only do fantasy fiction or mythological shows.' That's something I've always dealt with, and it doesn't really bother me. It doesn't matter whether you call me glamorous, stylish, or anything else – like saying she's good for a certain kind of role. When I did Brahmāstra or Bhootnii, they said she's good for these… not larger-than-life, but more outlandish roles. She can play these parts well. As long as – whether it's glam, outlandish, girl next door, or dancing – if you can see that I'm putting in my hard work and 100%, and it resonates with the audience and they receive it well, you receive it well – that's my takeaway from it." Speaking of the kind of roles she wants to do, Mouni said, 'I'm hungry – a greedy actor, in the right sense – because I want to be part of great scripts, good storytelling and work with different, like-minded people. I also want to take on roles I haven't done before; that's very important to me. If you ask me for one dream role, it would be an Indian Broadway-style musical – maybe the story of a Kathak dancer or something like that." Mouni Roy Movies And TV Shows Mouni Roy began her career on television with shows like Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi and rose to fame with Naagin. She later moved to films, making her Bollywood debut in Gold and going on to appear in projects like Made in China, Brahmāstra, and Romeo Akbar Walter. Over the years, she has taken on a mix of TV, film, and OTT roles, proving her versatility as an actor. Mouni Roy Husband On the personal front, Mouni Roy is married to Suraj Nambiar, a Dubai-based businessman, and the couple tied the knot in January 2022 in a traditional ceremony that combined South Indian and Bengali customs. Over 5 million devotees expected in Mathura for Janmashtami, security stepped up

Mathura (UP), Aug 10 (PTI) The 5,252nd birth anniversary of Lord Krishna will be celebrated at midnight on August 16 in all major temples of Mathura, including the Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi temple, and at the Thakur Bankey Bihari temple in Vrindavan. Nandgaon will mark the festivities on the night of August 17, officials said here on Sunday. District Magistrate Chandraprakash Singh and Senior Superintendent of Police Shlok Kumar said that while around 4.2 million devotees visited Mathura during Janmashtami last year, the number is expected to cross five million this time. Preparations and security arrangements are being made accordingly at all pilgrimage centres, including Mathura, Vrindavan, Barsana, Gokul, Nandgaon, Govardhan, and Mahavan. At the Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi temple complex alone, 150 CCTV cameras have been installed, with over 100 more positioned in the surrounding areas. For the first time, AI-enabled drone cameras will also be deployed for surveillance, the officials said. Police personnel will be stationed across the city, especially at major temples and sensitive locations. Civic works such as cleaning, road repairs, beautification of routes, and decoration of intersections are being carried out on a war footing, the officers added. The Uttar Pradesh Braj Teerth Vikas Parishad, which is organising the celebrations under the banner of 'Shri Krishnotsav', has planned a three-day festival from August 15 to 17. Vice-Chairman of the Mathura-Vrindavan Development Authority and ex-officio CEO of the Parishad, Shyam Bahadur Singh, said the festivities will begin on the morning of August 15 with a grand procession from the main gate of Shri Krishna Janmasthan to Potra Kund, Govind Nagar, and Deeg Gate, before returning to the starting point. The procession will combine devotional and patriotic themes, featuring about 250 folk artists from Braj, Bundelkhand, Rajasthan, and Haryana, performing traditional dances such as Bundelkhand's Rai, Rajasthan's Kachhi Ghodi, and Haryana's Gujri. Musicians will play nagaras, dhols, shehnais, damrus, and manjiras, while bhajan groups from various temples, including ISKCON Vrindavan and Man Mandir Barsana, will spread devotional fervour, he said. The management of the Bankey Bihari temple has urged devotees to avoid bringing the elderly, children, pregnant women, persons with disabilities, and patients suffering from blood pressure or diabetes to Vrindavan during Janmashtami, in view of the expected massive crowds and to prevent any untoward incidents. ‘Couple Freeze To Death On Wedding Day, Corpses On Display With Ring' — Why This Video Is Angering Internet

Last Updated: Tech billionaires Viktor and Elena Petrov allegedly died from liquid nitrogen-infused wedding outfits, but no proof exists, suggesting it might be a viral social media story. Weddings are a joyous affair, marking the beginning of a forever journey between two individuals. The bride and groom, alongside either of their families, leave no stone unturned to make the day extra special, planning unique themes, personalised decor and memorable rituals. But in 2019, a tech billionaire couple reportedly took their D-day celebrations a notch higher by customising their wedding attire with 'liquid nitrogen systems built inside," which ultimately led to their death. But there's a catch. With no authentic proof of the incident, this might be one of the many tales that make the rounds on social media. As AI tools and viral content take over the world, the lines between fact and fiction are often blurred. At such times, it becomes all the more important to pause, verify and think twice before believing anything we see online. The video introduces viewers to the couple, Viktor and Elena Petrov, who owned one of the largest gryogenics companies in Russia. On their wedding day, the duo invited around 300 elite guests to the Petrov Institute in Moscow. They chose to don liquid nitrogen-infused nuptial wear, which couldn't be seen from the outside. As they exchanged vows, their body temperatures began to drop rapidly. The guests, oblivious of what was happening, thought it was a performing act. Soon, Elena's wedding gown formed crystals with frost. Meanwhile, Viktor's breath became visible clouds in the air. At exactly -196 degrees Celsius, Elena and Viktor's bodies couldn't take the low temperatures any longer and both of them collapsed on the floor midkiss. Although the medical team rushed to their aid, they could not retrieve Viktor and Elena's frozen bodies. Reportedly, their corpses still remain on display at the Petrov Institute Here's How The Internet Reacted The video left the internet divided. 'Wow, there's so much love on this planet," gushed one user. 'God have mercy," prayed another. 'That's cold," read a sarcastic remark. 'Nah, don't believe this," asserted one person. 'Not real. I found nothing on this at all. Can't believe everything you hear," agreed one person. 'So much crazy stuff on the internet these days," joked an individual. What are your thoughts on this?
