
Yoga builds physical and mental strength: Minister Savita
Penukonda: Practicing yoga daily leads to a healthy life and enhances both physical and mental resilience, said Minister for BC, EWS Welfare, Handlooms and Textiles, S Savita.
Speaking at a yoga session held on Monday at the KIA Motors premises in Penukonda as part of the Yogandra–2025 celebrations, she emphasized the value of yoga in improving concentration and making sound decisions.
She described yoga as a priceless gift from ancient India and encouraged everyone to practice it for at least an hour every day.
She appreciated KIA management for organizing the session, recognizing the importance of wellness in the workplace. She praised Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, who, at 75 years of age, practices yoga daily and continues to tirelessly work for the state's development with youth-like energy and visionary leadership. aShe urged everyone to take the Naidu as a role model and incorporate yoga into their daily routine for better health and focus.
As part of Yogandra 2025, a statewide yoga month began on May 21, with sessions being conducted in every constituency and mandal headquarters. She called on the public to attend the Visakhapatnam event in large numbers. District Collector TS Chetan, Joint Collector Abhishek Kumar, KIA CEO Kup Donglee, Legal Advisor Anglima, company representatives, public officials, local leaders, women, students, and citizens participated in the yoga session.

Prakasam collector releases‘Stop Diarrhoea' campaign poster
Ongole: Prakasam district collector A Thameem Ansariya unveiled a wall poster related to the 'Stop Diarrhoea' campaign, which aims to raise awareness about diarrheal diseases and their prevention among children under five years of age, at the Spandana Hall in the Collectorate here on Monday. Speaking at the programme, the collector explained that diarrhoea is defined as loose, watery stools occurring three or more times in a single day among infants. She highlighted that children suffering from diarrheal diseases often experience symptoms including inability to breastfeed or reduced feeding, vomiting after every meal, frequent watery stools leading to dehydration, unconsciousness, and rapid breathing. She emphasised that diarrheal diseases can be prevented through several measures, including timely vaccination with rotavirus and measles vaccines for all children under five years, exclusive breastfeeding, providing supplementary nutritious food, administering Vitamin A syrup, and maintaining proper hand hygiene by washing hands with soap before meals and after using toilets. For children already affected by diarrhoea, the collector recommended the use of ORS solution and zinc tablets under medical supervision for children under five years of age as effective treatment measures. District Medical and Health Officer Dr Venkateswara Rao announced that all necessary medicines and saline for diarrhoea prevention are being made available at every urban and primary health centre. He mentioned the establishment of ORS and zinc corners at these facilities and directed that one ORS packet should be supplied to every household with children under five years. The DMHO instructed medical officers to conduct awareness camps on diarrhoea prevention in collaboration with all line departments within their health centre jurisdictions to prevent child mortality due to diarrheal diseases. He also mandated daily reporting of diarrhoea-related cases to the DIO email. The programme was attended by Joint Collector R Gopala Krishna, DRO Chinna Obulesu, Special Deputy Collectors Varakumar, Sridhar, Johnson, and other officials.

AP: Five lakh people to practice Yoga on IYD in Visakhapatnam; PM to participate
Visakhapatnam, June 16 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has said that over five lakh people will practice Yoga on International Yoga Day June 21 in Visakhapatnam in a programme in which Prime Minister Narendra Modi will participate. The international Yoga programme will be organised at RK beach in Visakhapatnam. The Chief Minister reviewed the arrangements for the International Yoga Day celebrations at RK Beach, here on Monday accompanied by officials. Later, talking to the media, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu stated that all arrangements are in place for the International Yoga Day celebrations to be held on June 21 at RK Beach, Visakhapatnam. He noted that Visakhapatnam is set to host this grand event, with five lakh people performing yoga together at a single location. He said that he had inspected the arrangements at the main stage being prepared for Prime Minister Narendra Modi on RK Beach Road and given several suggestions to the officials. He also visited the Andhra University College Ground to assess preparations there. A review meeting was later held at Novotel with officials, alliance public representatives, and leaders, followed by an interaction with the media. 'This is the largest and most significant event I have overseen so far. Yoga will be a game-changer in the health sector. We will announce the Visakhapatnam Yoga Day Declaration, which will detail what the Central and State governments can do,' he announced. 'Prime Minister Narendra Modi identified Visakhapatnam as an ideal venue for the 11th International Yoga Day and expressed confidence in our ability to organise it successfully,' Naidu mentioned. 'We are conducting month-long activities across AP. This is unprecedented. "On June 21st, yoga events will be held at one lakh locations across Andhra Pradesh, with two crore people participating. Already, 2.17 crore people have registered. We will issue certificates to 25 lakh participants. We are attempting a Guinness World Record and we will achieve it,' the Chief Minister acknowledged. "The Bill Gates Foundation has come forward to support the health sector in Andhra Pradesh. A pilot project has begun in Kuppam. In six months, it will expand to Chittoor, and in two years, across the state. I will transform AP into a Healthy Andhra – a healthy, wealthy, and happy state. Negative thinking leads to negative results; pure thoughts lead to pure outcomes,' he noted. UNI DP RN
