Dad calls out ‘hypocritical' New Jersey Little League over son's bat flip suspension — and here are the videos that back him
Suspended Haddonfield Little League star Marco Rocco's father, Joe, called out Little League's decision-makers for suddenly being anti-bat flipping after his 12-year-old son's celebration landed him a suspension ahead of the New Jersey Little League State Tournament final beginning Thursday.
'They're hypocritical,' Joe told The Post. 'They post bat flipping on their own Twitter account.'

Joe certainly has a point.
Little League posts plenty of highlights on X throughout its tournaments — and that includes bat flips like the one that earned his son a one-game ban.

In 2022, Nicaragua's Luis Garcia hit a massive homer to left field during the Little League World Series and proceeded to flip his bat just about as exultantly as Marco did last week.
Garcia was not ejected during the incredibly exciting moment for him and his team, and ESPN's announcers went berserk and praised the over-the-top celebration.
Little League even posted the highlight to X.
Former MLB star and Little League World Series legend Todd Frazier was one of those announcers who celebrated the excited reaction.
'The bat flip to go with it!' Frazier, who famously led Toms Rivers to the 1998 championship, excitedly said. 'That is one of the highest bat flips I have ever seen!'
Frazier was not only blown away by the home run but also the replays of the bat flip and Garcia's other celebrations, stating: 'There we go!'

In a compilation of Little League World Series bat flips that runs more than than eight minutes, various broadcasters never once express disapproval of the flipping and, like Frazier, many hailed the celebrations and got a laugh out of them.

'The worst part of it is Little League openly promotes bat flipping,' Joe told the Post. 'Kids see bat flipping as celebration.'
But while kids see it as a celebration, Little League classified it as 'horseplay' in Marco's case, which is against Little League rules.

Not only does he have a problem with Little League being 'hypocritical,' Joe believes things need to be more clear-cut.
'You have to either say, you can do it, or you can't,' he told The Post.
Haddonfield is among the final four teams in New Jersey's 12U division and the teams are set for a double-elimination bracket starting Thursday, with the winner moving on to the Metro Region Tournament.
The Rocco family filed an emergency temporary restraining order in the Gloucester County Chancery Division in an attempt to have the suspension overturned, NJ.com reported Tuesday.

Nebraska scheduled to host a top class of 2027 running back target
Nebraska football running back target Kylonn Hanie is planning to come back to campus this fall, according to a new report by On3's Bryan Munson. Haynie is the No. 40 overall running back in the 2027 class, and the third overall player in his class from the state of Nebraska per the Rivals recruiting rankings. He is very familiar with Nebraska and its campus, having visited the program eight times over the last year. The Huskers have been involved in his recruitment since last April. He most recently visited the program on April 3. He was effective at running the football in 2024, carrying the ball 146 times for 1,011 yards and six touchdowns. He averaged 6.9 yards per carry and had six games of 100-plus rushing yards. He also proved effective at catching the football, tallying 11 receptions for 137 yards and two touchdowns. Haine indicated that he liked Nebraska, but Kansas is recruiting him hard. Wisconsin is also recruiting him. That being said, he plans to attend a couple of Nebraska's home games, in addition to Wisconsin. It sounds like this recruitment is certainly one that the Huskers are in. It will be interesting to see how it progresses throughout the year, as he has several visits scheduled. Iowa football passing attack receives promising preseason prediction
The Iowa passing offense has been underwhelming for years now. The Hawkeyes haven't had a quarterback pass for more than 2,000 yards in a season since Nate Stanley in 2019. That threshold should be the floor for any non-military academy college football team these days, but Iowa has struggled to even reach that bar. However, the arrival of a new quarterback this offseason has fans and media members optimistic that Iowa's passing attack will be at least average in 2025. And one media outlet is predicting it to be even better. Pro Football Network shared one bold prediction for each Big Ten team heading into the 2025 season. Some of their predictions call for disastrous seasons (i.e., Maryland going winless in conference play) and others give a more rosy outlook (i.e., Indiana returning to the College Football Playoff). Hawkeye fans will be pretty excited to see what Pro Football Network had to say about Iowa. What is Iowa's bold prediction for 2025? Pro Football Network predicted Iowa to have an above-average passing game in 2025, which is music to Hawkeye fans' ears. It's been decades since the Iowa Hawkeyes fielded an excellent passing attack. Despite that, they've put together four double-digit season win totals in the last 10 years, primarily based on the strength of their defense. Quarterback play has been erratic and underwhelming, to say the least. But come 2025, enter new QB Mark Gronowski, tasked with uplifting a dormant passing offense. The most prolific passer in South Dakota State Jackrabbits program history across four seasons, the 6'3″, 230-pounder already has an accomplished college football career. With that experience and track record, as he's thrown 93 touchdowns versus just 20 interceptions (plus 37 scores on the ground) in his career, the Hawkeyes are set to trot out one of the top signal-callers in the Big Ten. With one of the top half passing offenses in the conference, watch out for the Hawkeyes to make some noise come November and potentially into December. -Pro Football Network. A lot of the optimism for the Hawkeyes' passing offense comes from Mark Gronowski and his ability to elevate a passing attack that's been dormant this entire decade. While it's still unknown how he'll make the switch from the FCS to the FBS level, there's real excitement about bringing in a guy with a proven track record of great quarterback play at a premier FCS program. Hawkeye fans don't have to wait long to see if Pro Football Network's prediction comes to fruition, with kickoff of the season opener just over a month away. Gronowski, Tim Lester, and the rest of the offense will have a chance to get things going and into a rhythm against Albany on Aug. 30 before a tough road test at Iowa State on Sept. 6. 2026 4-star CB and Texas A&M commit shuts down recruitment
Texas A&M's 2026 recruiting class features two of the top cornerback prospects in the cycle, starting with five-star Brandon Arrington and four-star Victor Singleton, who the Aggies flipped from Illinois back in early April. Singleton has been one of the program's biggest supporters via social media, cheering on every commitment in the class, while his elite skill set on the field speaks for itself. On Sunday, Singleton joined a long list of Texas A&M's 27 commits who have shut down their recruitment, following four-star linebacker DaQuives Beck, who announced his shutdown on Friday night, which was spurred by wide receivers Aaron Gregory and Madden Williams and edge commits Jordan Carter and Samu Moala, who all announced their shutdowns this summer. Singleton is one of the fiercest defenders in the 2026 class, and the fact that head coach Mike Elko and defensive backs coach Jordan Peterson flipped him from Illinois head coach Bret Bielema, who has developed and sent several cornerbacks to the NFL, is quite the recruiting win. On the field, Singleton isn't afraid to tackle and is one of the better man coverage specialists due to his elite athleticism, quickness, and defensive instincts. During his 2024 junior season, Singleton recorded 30 tackles, five tackles for loss, and four interceptions. According to On3, Singleton is currently positioned as the 56th-ranked prospect in the cycle, the 8th-ranked cornerback, and the third-ranked prospect in Ohio.
