Eminem Fires Back at ‘Silver' Rhyme Challenge With Epic X Response
Eminem has once again proven why he's considered one of hip-hop's most skilled wordsmiths. The rap legend was challenged earlier this week after the X account UberFacts posted, "There's no word in English that rhymes with silver." LL Cool J's Rock the Bells platform upped the ante by tagging Eminem with the message, "Eminem you have 24 hours!" The Detroit MC didn't need that long to think of words. Within hours, he posted a sprawling rhyme spree on the platform formerly known as Twitter. He listed dozens of near and slant rhymes for the difficult word. This isn't the first time Eminem tackled the world "silver." On his 2020 track "Little Engine" from the album Music to Be Murdered By, Em slipped in the line: "My flow still a (Psycho) psycho killer (Killer) / (Nitro) Hi ho, Silver / Similes and idioms giddy up." Despite linguists often noting that "silver" has no perfect rhymes in standard English, Eminem's tweet was a masterclass in how creative phrasing, slant rhymes, and proper nouns can enable an elite rapper to find ways to rhyme near-impossible words. Kendrick Lamar's Streaming Smashes Return — But Which One Is More Impressive?
Kendrick Lamar is one of the top-performing rap artists in America when it comes to sales, as his fans seem much more willing to purchase his music than many other stars in the field. While sales of both his albums and singles play a large role in his continued success, streaming activity may be even more responsible for his presence on the Billboard charts. Several of Lamar's recent smashes return to streaming-only rankings in the United States, and he climbs on multiple tallies dedicated to the consumption metric. '30 for 30" with SZA is Back Two Lamar tracks find their way back to streaming-only tallies this frame. Technically, the higher-rising of the two is '30 for 30.' His tour partner SZA recruited him for the track, which reappears at No. 25 on the R&B/Hip-Hop Streaming Songs tally. 30 weeks into its life on the most competitive of all the streaming rankings that focus on R&B, hip-hop and rap, the cut barely makes it back as it lands in last place. 'Not Like Us' Returns to the Main Streaming Chart 'Not Like Us,' which may go down as Lamar's most famous and celebrated tune, is back on the Streaming Songs chart this week. In its sixty-first frame, the Drake diss tune reappears in last place at No. 50. While that is a much lower position than '30 for 30' manages on the R&B/Hip-Hop Streaming Songs roster, it may be more impressive that 'Not Like Us' can be found on the Streaming Songs tally. The chart isn't focused on just one or several styles, which makes it that much more competitive. Also, 'Not Like Us' is much older than '30 for 30,' so the fact that it once again ranks as one of the 50-most-played tunes of any style or language throughout the United States is quite the feat. Kendrick Lamar Owns 20% of the Streaming List 'Not Like Us' is one of two tracks by Lamar that appear on the general Streaming Songs roster, as 'Luther,' another duet with SZA, rises two spaces to No. 31. When it comes to the R&B/Hip-Hop Streaming Songs tally, however, Lamar is far more successful this time around. He fills five spaces, occupying 20% of the list. His roundup includes 'Luther' with SZA, 'Not Like Us,' 'TV Off' with Lefty Gunplay, 'All the Stars,' yet another smash with SZA, and finally '30 for 30.' Those tracks appear at Nos. 3, 10, 17, 21 and 25, respectively.

Cardi B Pays Homage To Jay-Z With New Single ‘Imaginary Playerz'
Grammy-winning rapper Cardi B is setting the stage for her long-awaited sophomore album. Am I the Drama?, slated for release next month, arrives next month and marks the Bronx-bred MC's first full-length since 2018. After a string of hit singles like 'WAP' and 'Up' in the first half of the decade and more recently with 'Enough (Miami)' and 'Bongos,' Cardi gave her first taste of Am I the Drama? last month with 'Outside.' Cardi's follow-up single, 'Imaginary Playerz,' shows that she's not just ready to have a good time; she's prepared to show she deserves her spot among rap's greats. The track pays tribute to Jay-Z's 'Imaginary Player,' coincidentally from his own sophomore album. And like Jay-Z on the original, Cardi takes time on the track to toot her own horn. 'Now I spit that other s**t, pretty motherf**ker s**t / Cardi B, every song platinum, I'm not the other b***h / Whatever you was gon' pay hеr, you gotta double it / Gloryhole, b***hes don't know who thеy f**kin' with,' she raps. "My flop and your flop is not the same / If you did my numbers, y'all would pop champagne / If I did your numbers, I would hop out a plane." Earlier this year, Cardi teased that the forthcoming album would deliver something new in the music scene today. "I feel like it's unexpected and I feel like it's something that's not really out right now," she told Billboard. "It's gonna be things that people do expect me and a lot of things people don't expect from me." The past year of has been a whirlwind for Cardi personally, from filing for divorce a second time last July and having her third child last September to her current relationship with New England Patriots player Stefon Diggs. Naturally, that bled over into the recording process. "It's a lot of lover girl things, too, on my album. I've been heartbroken and then I'm loving again, and then I'm exploring again," she said. Am I the Drama? is out Sept. 19.
