The frame is a bit more curved than on pre-production versions of the Pebble Time 2. The top and bottom buttons on the right side are now angled rather than sitting in a straight line with the center one. With the strap attached, the Pebble Time 2 weighs about 48 grams, and the body is about 32.5 grams.
Core Designs has added more features to the smartwatch as well. The Pebble Time 2's front, rear and buttons will be made using 316 stainless steel. It will also have a multicolor RGB LED backlight, compass sensor and screw-mounted back cover. In addition, the team has incorporated a second microphone, which Migicovsky said could be used to potentially support environmental noise cancellation.
It was previously confirmed that the Pebble Time 2 would have a quick-release 22mm strap, flat hardened glass lens, step and sleep tracking and a speaker. The watch will also boast a vibration function and water resistance.
Core Designs plans to offer the Pebble Time 2 in four colorways, but the team hasn't settled on the options yet. Once it has, it will email everyone who has pre-ordered the smartwatch and ask them to pick a color.
The Pebble Time 2 is currently scheduled to start shipping in December and it will cost $225 (the $149 Pebble Duo 2 became available last month). Migicovsky and the team recently regained the Pebble trademark. As such, they were able to start using the Pebble branding again and renamed what were previously called the Core 2 Duo and Core Time 2.

Step back in time 10 years, and Tom's Guide called the Pebble Time Round the "most beautiful smartwatch." But watch companies know better than anyone time waits for no man, and after Pebble was sold to Fitbit, the brand seemed dead, buried and destined to be replaced by Apple Watches, Fitbits and Garmins. But, like the $89 Casio Baby-G strapped to the wrist of my colleague Dan, what's old is new again. We knew Pebble was coming back, but now founder Eric Migicovsky has given us our first look at the final design of the upcoming Pebble Time 2. The watch is already up for pre-order for $225 at Pebble's online store and brings with it a 1.5-inch, 64 color e-paper touch screen inside a metal frame. Features include step and sleep tracking, a heart rate sensor and IPX8 water resistance, while battery life is stated at 30 days. As before, the open source PebbleOS platform will offer up thousands of watch faces and apps. Alongside the final design, Migicovsky revealed a few new details about the features, including that the watch will have four colorways and include a second microphone — possibly for noise cancellation. There will also be a compass sensor and a multicolor RGB LED backlight, which sounds cool. The metal frame will be made from stainless steel and the buttons will have a knurling design like the original Pebble Time Steel. "The design that we showed off back in March were preliminary designs," Migicovsky wrote in a blog post announcing the design. "We've been able to tweak and improve the industrial design quite a bit since then. I think it's turned out fantastically well! I even have a working albeit early engineering sample on my wrist." The company is also making a second, cheaper watch called the Pebble 2 Duo that's already available. Back in the day, Pebble gained itself a pretty hardcore following due to the longevity of the devices (30 day battery life!) and the community-led nature of its app development. Whether or not the company can recapture some of that old magic in a world where the Apple Watch Ultra 3 is mere weeks away remains to be seen. My colleague Mike Prospero actually caught up with Migicovsky earlier this year and asked him why he's bringing Pebble back. Here was the response: "I've tried every other watch and it just doesn't hit that like the the core set of features that I want out of a smart watch, which is that it's as an e-paper screen [with] long battery life, hackable, something that you can download fun watch races for and is just simple. "I really don't want that much out of a smart watch. I want it to tell the time, show notifications, let me control my music, do step tracking, sleep tracking, that's it." Pebble's smartwatch is back: Pebble Time 2 specs revealed
Eric Migicovsky, the original creator of the Pebble smartwatch, on Wednesday showed off the new designs for the upcoming watch, now known as the Pebble Time 2. Although the company originally branded its new watches as the Core 2 Duo and Core Time 2 when it first announced its plans to return to the market in March, Migicovsky says the company has since been able to regain the Pebble trademark. That means the new watches will instead be called the Pebble 2 Duo and the Pebble Time 2. Migicovsky's company, Core Devices, had also shown off early ideas for the watches back in March, but today it's revealing the final design for the Pebble Time 2. The industrial design of the watch has changed, and a handful of new features have been added, notes Migicovsky in a blog post. The Time 2 will debut in four colors, still yet to be determined; Pebble buyers will have input later on, the company says. Plus, the company is adding a multicolor RGB LED backlight, a second microphone (to aid with a potential environmental noise cancellation feature), a compass sensor, and a screw-mounted back cover. The watch will be stainless steel on the front and back, and feature stainless steel buttons like the older Pebble Time Steel. Other previously announced specs will remain the same, including Pebble's plans for a 1.5-inch 64 color e-paper display, a touch screen, a quick-release 22mm watch strap, a flat hardened glass lens, 30-day estimated battery life, heart rate monitor, step and sleep tracking, speaker, linear actuator motor (for vibration), and a waterproof rating of some sort, which is yet to be determined. The Pebble Time 2 is available for pre-order for $225 and will pair with a smartphone via Bluetooth, allowing it to display notifications, control the music on your phone, and connect with the internet. The company also noted that people who pre-order the Core 2 Duo can upgrade to the Pebble Time 2 while reserving their place in line. To do so, customers shouldn't cancel the original order, but instead wait for an email survey link that will be emailed in the next month or so, offering the option for them to catch their order.
