Jim Goodwin eyes fresh Liverpool transfer raid as Dundee United boss tells Luca Stephenson he'd love him back
The versatile midfielder had a successful loan at Tannadice but he's not the only top talent at the Reds who has caught the eye
Jim Goodwin wants to bring Luca Stephenson back to Dundee United and also tap further into the Liverpool development ranks.
The versatile midfielder had a successful loan at Tannadice and helped the Terrors to clinch a Europa Conference League spot.
United are to open talks about trying to sign Stephenson on a permanent basis but Goodwin has admitted some other Reds have also caught his eye.
Goodwin said: 'I'd love to bring Luca back, but he's under contract at Liverpool, so we'll just need to wait and see what happens with that.
'I speak to their loans manager, Matt Newberry, who I've got a good relationship with.
"(Leighton) Clarkson went to Aberdeen, obviously, a couple of years ago.
"He was really good to deal with again with regards to bringing Luca up.
'They've got a fantastic academy down there, as you'd imagine, so we'll try and tap into that again in the summer.
'I've already identified a couple of really good ones, but it's just whether we can get them to Scotland or not.
'It's a relationship that we'll continue to try and work on. They're a great club to deal with.'
Goodwin has already made his personal pitch to Stephenson.
He said: 'I had a really good conversation in depth with Luca prior to him leaving.
'He was outstanding for us and deservedly won our Young Player of the Year award.
'We missed him towards the end of the season when he was unavailable.
'We missed his energy in the middle of the pitch, his ability to break things up and his desire to get forward.
'I thought it was glaringly obvious that we missed his presence in the middle of the park in some of the games.'
Goodwin knows Stephenson's loan will aid their cause at Liverpool.
The United boss added: 'Luca's going back down the road speaking positively about his time at Dundee United.
'I think that's the most important thing when these loans come up.
'When they go back down to England, they're talking about the Scottish game and about how they got treated at Dundee United in a positive manner.
'That can only stand us in good stead for the summer, when we have to go and try and do something similar.'

Every leaked Premier League kit for next season including throwback Liverpool shirt and slick Man Utd away strip
IT'S that time of year again. With the 2024-25 season done and dusted, preparations are underway for next term. 22 And one thing on every Premier League club's agenda is the roll out of thier new kits. Some have already been released, while others have been leaked on social media. SunSport has looked at some of the strips we can expect ahead of the 2025-26 campaign. ARSENAL The Gunners have already unveiled their home kit for next season. The traditional red strip has white detailing with a gothic A print blended into the body of the shirt. Unlike the Arsenal home kits of recent years, the new shirt, shorts and socks only include red and white elements, with no blue or gold. Although the club's second and third kits are yet to be officially released, some fans have leaked them online. Arsenal's rumoured away shirt bears similarities to the club's 2021-22 third strip. With a dark and light blue lightning-like pattern, the top has the Gunners' alternative cannon badge in white. There is also some red detailing down the sides and on the sleeves and neckline. Rashford to Inter Milan? Man Utd Star Eyes Shock Serie A Move! Finally, the club's alleged new third shirt is a combination of the 2008-09 and 2009-10 third strips. The white shirt has maroon cannon and Adidas badge with gold detailing on the collar and sleeves. The iconic Adidas stripes along the shoulders are also maroon. 22 CHELSEA The new Chelsea shirt is fairly similar to the 2024-25 edition. It is the traditional Blue colour synonymous with the club and includes a subtle print inspired by the architecture of London. The away kit also bears similarities to this season's. Chelsea's new away strip is the same off-white colour but features eight thin blue and red stripes down the centre. It also includes red and black detailing on the sleeve cuffs. 22 22 LIVERPOOL From the 2025-26 season, Adidas will become Liverpool's kit provider, taking over from Nike. Adidas previously partnered with the Reds from 1985 to 1996 and 2006 to 2012. The new Liverpool home kit is nearly identical to the 2010-11 strip with a classic red and white design. With three iconic Adidas stripes on the shoulders and a thin white line down each side, the shirt has a simple style that will likely be loved by the Premier League champions. The club's new away shirt, meanwhile, is white with red detailing. In contrast to the home strip, the club badge is placed within a red crest. There is also a significant difference in the Liverpool badge on the third shirt. In a throwback to the 1980s, the third kit uses a retro club badge that was introduced 38 years ago. The shield crest was implemented in 1987 and was used for five years until 1992, the year of Liverpool's 100th anniversary. It is now being used on the club's third shirt for the 2025-26 season. The new shirt is green with faint stripes down the front. It also uses the Adidas Originals logo. 22 22 MANCHESTER CITY Manchester City have kept it simple with their 2025-26 home kit. The Sky Blue shirt has elements of white - including a sash-like diagonal strip along the front. However, the alleged away and third kits are very unique. The white away shirt has outlines of City supporters doing the poznan, with a black and red diagonal strip covering the front. Etihad Airways, the club's sponsor, is positioned underneath the club badge as opposed to in the middle of the shirt. Two proposed third shirts have also been leaked, the first being a bright orange with a black and gold strip. The other, however, is completely different to any shirt used in the Premier League before. The grey strip includes a rain drop pattern with the City badge central above the Puma logo. It also has bright green detailing. Fans have been left less than impressed with the proposed new shirt, with one person writing: "It was bad without the rain drops. Then they added the rain drops." While another joked: "Good punishment for the players, over this past season." 22 22 22 MANCHESTER UNITED Manchester United are yet to unveil their home shirt for the 2025-26 season. However, a leak of it has emerged online. The alleged new United home shirt is very similar to the 2023-24 edition with black Adidas stripes on the shoulders. The red strip also appears to have a pattern running down the sleeves. A photo of the Man Utd goalkeeper kit also emerged online in recent weeks. The green strip includes white detailing with the Adidas Originals logo. The United badge has also been placed inside a shield - which is not the case on the home shirt. Man Utd's rumoured away shirt is white with hints of lilac. The traditional crest is replaced by the devil and trident synonymous with the club. And the third shirt is dark blue with yellow writing and detailing 22 22 22 22 NEWCASTLE Newcastle have kept it traditional with their 2025-26 home shirt. As always, the shirt has black and white alternating stripes running vertically down the front. But in a subtle change, there is a touch of blue included on the new edition. The light blue lines run around the neckline, down the sides and on the sleeve cuffs. 22 NOTTINGHAM FOREST The leaked Nottingham Forest home shirt bears a retro look with thin white stripes running vertically down the front. It also has a collar, which has not featured on a Forest shirt since 2012. In addition, the club badge has also been placed in a shield, much like many of the other Adidas kits this season. Meanwhile, the alleged away shirt is white with grey Adidas stripes on the shoulders. It also has a pattern blended into the body of the top. 22 22 TOTTENHAM Europa League winners Tottenham unveiled their 2025-26 home shirt this week. The new strip is fairly different to the style adapted by Spurs in recent years. With navy on the shoulders, the Lilywhite shirt also has elements of grey running down the sides. The Spurs badge is also positioned in the middle of the shirt, above the Nike logo. Meanwhile, Tottenham's away kit has been leaked. The all-black strip has faint lines running horizontally and vertically along the front and the shorts, creating a box pattern. 22

Liverpool hoping to finalise deal for Bournemouth left-back Milos Kerkez in the next few days with Cherries holding firm on £45m valuation
Liverpool are hoping to finalise a deal to sign Bournemouth left back Milos Kerkez in the coming days. The Cherries are standing firm with their valuation of £45million but could do a deal for around £40m. Kerkez, 21, could become Liverpool's second signing of the summer transfer window if he is not beaten to the punch by German superstar Florian Wirtz. Sources in Germany say a deal to sign Wirtz is '99 per cent done' in an incentivised package that would smash Liverpool's transfer record. The Bayer Leverkusen attacking midfielder, who will play for the Germans in their UEFA Nations League semi-final against Portugal tonight, is extremely keen on a move to Anfield and this is now a matter of 'when' not 'if'. He will follow Leverkusen pal Jeremie Frimpong to Liverpool after the wing back penned a five-year deal last week in a £29.5m move. These three deals will take the Reds' summer outlay to more than £200million when you also factor in the £25m deal, plus achievable add-ons, for new goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili. That move was finalised last summer but counts as one for this year on the financial sheets. It means Liverpool must balance the books with sales. They have already brought in £10m for Trent Alexander-Arnold leaving early for Real Madrid and will eventually bank £18m for Caoimhin Kelleher's switch to Brentford. Darwin Nunez is likely to leave while money could also be brought in from sales of players like Kostas Tsimikas. Young stars Harvey Elliott and Jarell Quansah are attracting interest from at home and abroad for permanent moves, though Liverpool would want big fees. Winger Luis Diaz is another who is said to have suitors with Al Nassr and Barcelona supposedly courting him.

Kerkez to Liverpool transfer one step away as defender deal gets green light
Milos Kerkez is closing in on a move to Liverpool, with the Hungarian set to challenge Andy Robertson at left-back, with Bournemouth now ready to let him depart Liverpool are trying to finalise a deal for Bournemouth full-back Milos Kerkez. But the Cherries are still demanding £45m for the Hungary left-back as talks continue between the club. The Reds have yet to submit an official bid but will do so when they feel they can strike an agreement. That is getting closer and discussions will continue this week with confidence growing that the player will end up at Liverpool. There will need to be a compromise on the fee. Boss Arne Slot and sporting director Richard Hughes have earmarked the left-back as their priority in the position they want to strengthen this summer. Hughes originally signed Kerkez for the Cherries from AZ Alkmaar in 2023 when he was at the Vitality Stadium. Kerkez, 21, was a standout performer for Bournemouth last season. The player is keen to make the move and personal terms won't be an issue should the clubs agree a fee. The Cherries are not willing to sell below their valuation as they have already lost defender Dean Huijsen to Real Madrid. They are also bracing for a bid from Paris Saint-Germain for centre-back Ilya Zabarnyi. According to FootMercato, the South Coast side have identified their preferred target to replace Kerkez. That man is understood to be Stade Rennais star Adrien Truffert, who is being 'highly courted' by the Cherries. He featured in 33 games for Rennais last season as they finished 12th in Ligue 1. The French side rejected an initial offer for the 23-year-old on Tuesday, but Bournemouth are ready to return with an improved offer. With the Cherries closing in on a replacement for Kerkez, it puts the Hungarian a step closer to Anfield. Liverpool are in the midst of a busy summer window having already confirmed the signing of versatile right-back Jeremie Frimpong in a £29m deal from Bayer Leverkusen. While talks are ongoing with the Bundesliga club after a bid of £109m in for the Germany midfield star Florian Wirtz in what would be a record transfer. There is expected to be another signing in attack with a striker on the list of wanted players this summer while there could be significant exits. Yet the Reds have no intention of selling Luis Diaz this summer. They are yet to receive any contact from clubs looking to sign the Colombia international. Diaz, 28, has just two years left on his current contract at the club and has been subject to numerous links this summer about a move away. Saudi Pro League sides Al-Nassr and Al-Hilal have both been linked with him as well as Spanish giants Barcelona. But Liverpool are confused by the noise around the player's future as they have had no contact about his availability. He is an important player under boss Arne Slot and scored 17 goals last season in all competitions as the Reds won the Premier League title. But there are also no plans to open contract talks yet with Diaz.
