Nvidia CEO to hold media briefing in Beijing on July 16

The Hindu14-07-2025
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang will hold a media briefing in Beijing on July 16, an official from the company said on Sunday, marking his second visit to the country after a trip in April where he stressed the importance of the Chinese market.
Since 2022, the U.S. government has imposed restrictions on the export of Nvidia's most advanced chips to China, citing concerns over potential military applications.
The U.S. also imposed a ban earlier this year on sales of Nvidia's H20 artificial intelligence chips to the country, which had been Nvidia's most powerful AI chip cleared for Chinese sales.
Huang's latest visit has been closely-watched in both U.S. and China. A bipartisan pair of U.S. senators on Friday sent a letter to Huang about his China trip, asking him to abstain from meeting with companies that are working with military or intelligence bodies in the People's Republic of China.
The senators also asked Huang to refrain from meeting with entities named on the United States' restricted export list.
Nvidia has faced increased competition from Chinese tech giant Huawei and other makers of graphics processing units - the chips used to train artificial intelligence. But Chinese companies, including its big tech firms, still crave Nvidia chips due to the company's computing platform known as CUDA.
China generated $17 billion in revenue for Nvidia in the fiscal year ending January 26, accounting for 13% of the company's total sales, based on its latest annual report. Huang has consistently highlighted China as a critical market for Nvidia's growth.
Nvidia's market value topped $4 trillion for the first time last week, solidifying the chipmaker's position as Wall Street's central player in a race to dominate AI technology.

U.S. not rushing trade deals ahead of August deadline, will talk with China: U.S. Treasury Secretary

The Trump administration is more concerned with the quality of trade agreements rather than their timing, U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said on Monday (July 21, 2025) ahead of an August 1 deadline for securing a trade deal or facing steep tariffs. "We're not going to rush for the sake of doing deals," Bessent told CNBC in an interview. Asked whether the deadline could be extended for countries engaged in productive talks with Washington, Mr. Bessent said U.S. President Donald Trump would decide. "We'll see what the President wants to do. But again, if we somehow boomerang back to the August 1 tariff, I would think that a higher tariff level will put more pressure on those countries to come with better agreements," he said. On China, Mr. Bessent said there would be "talks in the very near future." "I think trade is in a good place and, I think, now we can start talking about other things. The Chinese unfortunately ... are very large purchasers of sanctioned Iranian oil, sanctioned Russian oil," he said. "We could also discuss the elephant in the room, which is this great rebalancing that the Chinese need to do." Mr. Bessent told CNBC he would encourage Europe to follow the United States if it implements secondary tariffs on Russia. On Japan, Mr. Bessent said the administration was less concerned with its domestic politics than with getting the best deal for Americans.

China to rebuild flood-damaged infrastructure in Nepals Rasuwa: officials

Agency: PTI Last Updated: Kathmandu, Jul 21 (PTI) China on Monday pledged support to Nepal for reconstructing infrastructure damaged by recent floods in Rasuwa district and restoring customs operations, officials here said. The Nepal-China Friendship Bridge, connecting the two nations, along with several hydropower projects and a dry port, was severely impacted by flash floods that struck Rasuwa on July 8, 2025. The assurance came during a meeting between Nepal's Finance Minister Bishnu Paudel and a Chinese delegation led by Chen Xiaodong, Chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), at the Finance Ministry here, officials said. Discussions also covered Nepal-China bilateral ties, development cooperation, and ongoing and future Chinese-funded projects, they said. Deputy Prime Minister Paudel, emphasising post-disaster recovery as Nepal's priority, expressed gratitude for China's commitment to rebuilding the affected infrastructure. During the meeting, Nepal and China also signed MoUs for four projects, including the construction of a bone marrow transplantation facility at BP Koirala Memorial Cancer Hospital and a feasibility study for expanding the Civil Hospital. Finance Secretary Ghanashyam Upadhyaya and CIDCA Chairman Chen signed the MoU on behalf of their respective governments. A MoU was signed to facilitate human resource development, enabling over 1,200 Nepalese government employees to participate in bilateral and multilateral seminars organised by China-based institutions. An agreement was signed between Nepal Electricity Authority Managing Director Hitendra Dev Shakya and Chen for a feasibility study on the Rasuwagadhi-Kerung Transnational Electricity Transmission Line. How to save progress in PEAK?

Image via Steam. Since its launch, PEAK has garnered a huge playerbase around itself. This simple but enthralling mountain scaling simulation title became an instant fan-favorite. In this game, players need to climb mountains solo or a squad of four. The game might look cartoonish, but players need to keep in mind a lot of things while beginning their journey in PEAK, like stamina management, teamworks, revives, tools & equipment, foods & resources, and many more. But there is one feature that fans hugely miss while playing this game is a 'save game' feature. PEAK: How to save game? You can actually save your progress in PEAK. | Image via Steam. If you fall from a mountain while climbing in PEAK or randomly quit the game without reaching the summit, there's no way you can spawn back to the exact location from where you fell or quitted. Despite being a tedious mountain climbing game, PEAK doesn't feature any respawn, checkpoint, manual or autosave feature. This is what makes the game more adventurous and makes the player more serious about the game. However, sometimes this missing aspect can lead to utter disappointment and rage among the fans. Climbing in a game in PEAK takes hours of uninterrupted gaming, and not every player can devote this much time to this game, that too without a break. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Many Are Watching Tariffs - Few Are Watching What Nvidia Just Launched Seeking Alpha Read More Undo There might not be an in-built save option in the game, but thanks to the modders, players can actually save their progress in PEAK. In order to save progress in PEAK, players need to install mods in the game. Players can download the required mods from Thunderstore . As of now, there are only two mods which can save games in PEAK - SavePoint and PEAK Save Manager. It will be easy for the fans to actually install the Thunderstore Mod Manager client. This will simplify the mod downloading and installing process and players can turn on/off the mods from this client whenever they want. With the SavePoint mod, players can create a checkpoint location at their desired spot by pressing F5. Upon pressing F6, they will respawn at that point. However, this checkpoint doesn't work if a player quits the game. Also, respawning doesn't guarantee any of the items or status the player had at the time of saving. The PEAK Save Manager mod is a bit complex as compared to the other one. It also comes with more advanced perks as well, like it respawns all the items and status, can be used even after fully exiting the game, and features multiple checkpoints to choose from. Not only that, players can respawn their friends as well with this mod. Read More: 5 best survival tips for beginners in PEAK Catch Rani Rampal's inspiring story on Game On, Episode 4. Watch Here!
