Social media influencer ‘CEO Baru' charged with sending lewd messages to minor
Gombak OCPD Asst Comm Noor Ariffin Mohamad Nasir said the suspect would be charged at the Ampang Court on Thursday (July 10) and in Selayang Court on Friday (July 11).
"He will be charged under Section 15(a)(i) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017 at the Ampang Children's Court.
"For the Selayang Magistrate's Court, the suspect will be charged under Section 292(e) of the Penal Code," he said when contacted on Wednesday (July 9).
ACP Noor Ariffin said the deputy public prosecutor had instructed that the suspect be charged after the investigation paper was referred.
Previously, it was reported that the 22-year-old social media influencer was detained on May 22 for sending lewd messages to a 14-year-old girl.
He was later freed on police bail after his remand had ended.

Store supervisor claims he was abducted, beaten in Johor Baru
JOHOR BARU: A store supervisor who works in Singapore has claimed that he was abducted by a group of men and beaten up at a children's playground here. The man, in his 30s, known only as Daniel, said the incident occurred at Taman Gunung Emas, Ulu Tiram, around 10 pm on Tuesday (July 15), shortly after he returned from across the Causeway. 'I had just finished work and decided to stop by my aunt's house when a group of at least 30 men surrounded me. 'They grabbed me and pushed me into a nearby parked car before taking me to a playground where they hit me with helmets, as well as kicking and punching me,' he said when interviewed. 'Thankfully, there were several policemen at a restaurant nearby, and they came to my rescue a few minutes later, but most of the group had managed to escape,' he added. The victim said he ended up with a fractured jaw and ribs as well as injuries to his back and head, and is being treated at a hospital here. The victim's elder brother, who only wanted to be known as Shan, said they grew up in the same housing area and knew some of those in the group. He suspects that the group of men was actually waiting outside his aunt's house for their cousin, her son, but ended up attacking Daniel instead. Shan added that their cousin had previously gotten into a verbal argument with some of the men in the group. 'We are now living in fear as the group knows where we stay and work,' he said, adding that he accompanied his brother to lodge a police report a few hours after the incident. Meanwhile, Seri Alam OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Sohaimi Ishak confirmed the report and said the investigation was ongoing under Section 147 of the Penal Code for rioting. 'A 25-year-old man has been arrested so far, and we are still looking for those involved,' he added.

OKU cardholder fined RM1,800 for causing hurt to 11-year-old boy
SEREMBAN: A 36-year-old woman who holds a person with disabilities (OKU) card has been fined RM1,800 after pleading guilty to a charge of causing hurt to an 11-year-old boy. The accused did not contest the charge after it was read to her before Magistrate Saiful Sayoti on Thursday (July 17). The fine was imposed in default three months' jail. She was accused of committing the offence at a grocery store in Mantin at around 12.30pm on Tuesday (July 15). ALSO READ: Cops detain woman for assaulting, threatening 11-year-old boy in Mantin She was charged under Section 323 of the Penal Code with voluntarily causing hurt to the victim by stepping on his face and legs. Offenders can be jailed for up to one year or fined up to RM2,000, or both, upon conviction. Deputy public prosecutor Fidha Misjedi asked the court to impose a punishment commensurate with the offence, as the victim was a young boy. She said pleading guilty did not automatically mean the accused was entitled to a lenient sentence. The accused, who was represented by a lawyer from the Legal Aid Department, pleaded for leniency as she had no source of income, was unmarried, and had mental health issues. Police detained the accused after the victim's mother lodged a report claiming that her son had been beaten and threatened by the suspect. Nilai OCPD Supt Abdul Malik Hasim said the incident was captured by the store's CCTV system. The suspect, he said, was said to have been experiencing hallucinations at the time and suspected the victim of shoplifting, although there was no evidence for that.

Gravedigger charged with sexually assaulting 9-year-old boy
TAIPING: A gravedigger was charged in the Sessions Court here today with sexually abusing a nine-year-old boy last Friday. The accused, Muhammed Syahril Reza Omar, 43, who is also a single father of three, pleaded not guilty before Judge Nabisha Ibrahim and requested to be tried. According to the charge sheet, he is accused of committing physical sexual assault on the boy by kissing his face and neck with sexual intent. The alleged incident took place in the women's toilet at Masjid Jamek Taman Yayasan, Kamunting, at 12.30pm on July 11. The offence falls under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017 (Act 792), which carries a maximum penalty of 20 years' imprisonment and whipping, upon conviction. The prosecution was led by Assistant Superintendent Shabani Bahari, while Syed Saifullizan Syed Abd Razak from the National Legal Aid Foundation (YBGK) represented the accused. Shabani proposed bail at RM30,000, with additional conditions that the accused must not approach, contact, or harass the victim — who is not related to him — and must report to the nearest police station once a month. Syed Saifullizan appealed for a reduced sum, citing the accused's limited income of RM400 a month from his gravedigger's allowance and the fact that he is a widower supporting three children aged 19, 14, and eight. The court allowed bail of RM8,000 with one surety, and imposed all additional conditions requested by the prosecution. The case has been fixed for mention on Aug 19 for case management and the appointment of legal counsel.
