66 police personnel honoured for excellence

KUALA LUMPUR: Only police personnel with MyPerformance scores of 90 per cent and above were considered for the Excellent Service Awards this year.
A total of 66 individuals, including rank-and-file personnel and police officers, were awarded for their exceptional service with the police force.
Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain said the evaluation included attendance records, frequency of medical leave and involvement in activities outside of official duties.
He expressed confidence that the set criteria would help personnel continuously boost their efforts to be more proactive and competitive.
"This is to provide quality service that meets the expectations of the nation and the public.
"To achieve what we desire, we must have efforts and determination," he said at Bukit Aman today.
He said competent, excellent and dedicated personnel are the main strength of the force.
Razarudin said this spirit should continue to be instilled among members, in line with the goal of enhancing service delivery quality and fostering a high-performance, innovative work culture.
"In total, 10,534 officers and personnel received the recognition this year, based on a quota of eight per cent of the total active officers.
"This includes 1,086 senior police officers, 8,486 lower-ranking police officers and 962 public service officers from various levels, including Bukit Aman, state contingents, brigades and training institutions," he said.
Present were Deputy Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay and Bukit Aman Management Department director Datuk Abdul Aziz Abdul Majid, who is also chairman of the event's Organizing Committee.
Razarudin expressed appreciation to the National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN) for sponsoring additional prizes for recipients in the form of National Education Savings Scheme certificates worth RM1,000 each.
The shariah-compliant savings scheme is seen as an early education savings instrument for children, offering tax relief of up to RM8,000 and free takaful protection for savings of RM1,000 or more.
"Recipients from families with a monthly household income not exceeding RM4,000 are also eligible to receive a Geran Sepadan of up to RM10,000 per family if they enrol in higher education institutions," he said.
Razarudin acknowledged PTPTN's contribution of more than RM67,000 to the police force's welfare fund and the commitment of the organisers and working committee, who have made the award ceremony a success since 2019.

Chinese national jailed a month, fined for attacking immigration officer

Published on: Monday, August 18, 2025 Published on: Mon, Aug 18, 2025 By: FMT Reporters Text Size: According to the charge, Fang Fuyuan had intentionally caused hurt to immigration officer Nurdiana Atirah Shapinaz Abdul Rahman, who was working at the KLIA Terminal 1 immigration counter. PETALING JAYA: The Sepang magistrates' court today sentenced Chinese national Fang Fuyuan, 31, to a month in prison and a fine of RM2,000 for hurting an immigration officer at KLIA Terminal 1 on Aug 13. Berita Harian reported that she pleaded guilty to the charge under Section 332 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt to a public servant. For this offence, a person can be jailed up to three years, fined, or both, upon conviction. According to the charge, she had intentionally caused hurt to immigration officer Nurdiana Atirah Shapinaz Abdul Rahman, who was working at the immigration counter. Fang's lawyers Tai Ying Fong and Jason Anthony had appealed for a lighter sentence on the basis of her young age and lack of a criminal record. '(Fang) has a husband and two small children, aged one and a half and five years, who are completely dependent on her. 'The family is in Malaysia without the support of other family members. 'This was a case of misunderstanding and miscommunication with the immigration officer. It occurred spontaneously and was not planned,' they said. However, deputy public prosecutor Luvithaa Veerasamy pressed for a fitting sentence that would serve as a deterrent to the accused and the public. Fang will serve her sentence starting from the date of her arrest on Aug 13. If she fails to pay the RM2,000 fine, she will serve another two months. Earlier, KLIA deputy police chief Albany Hamzah said statements from four people, including the victim, were recorded in connection with the case. The incident took place at about 7.40pm at the departure hall, when the group was undergoing immigration clearance. The woman was said to have acted aggressively and injured an immigration officer during the process, claiming she was worried about missing her flight. The officer sustained a swollen left eye and pain on the right side of her head following the assault. She was sent to Cyberjaya Hospital for treatment. * Follow us on our official WhatsApp channel and Telegram for breaking news alerts and key updates! * Do you have access to the Daily Express e-paper and online exclusive news? JOHOR BAHRU, Aug 18 — A crane lorry caused chain accident involving multiple vehicles when it failed to stop at a traffic junction along along Jalan Kebun Teh Lama near a restaurant here this morning. South Johor Bahru district police chief ACP Raub Selamat said that the crane lorry's braking system failed causing it to hit several vehicles, resulting in a chain accident involving six cars and two motorcycles at Kilometre 3 of Jalan Johor Bahru-Kota Tinggi headed to the town centre about 9 am. 'Preliminary investigations found that the crane lorry driven by a man, 49. went out of control when its brake system didn't function when he tried to stop the vehicle at the traffic light junction,' he said.
