TORONTO (AP) — The Toronto Blue Jays lost center fielders Jonatan Clase and Myles Straw due to injuries within two innings Tuesday night against Arizona.
Clase, who started in center, exited after being hit on the right knee by a pitch in the bottom of the fourth inning. Straw, his replacement, departed after crashing into the wall while chasing down a double in the top of the fifth.

Clase went down in pain after he was hit by a 93-mph sinker from Diamondbacks right-hander Brandon Pfaadt. Clase stayed in to run the bases, but the inning ended when the next batter, Bo Bichette, flied out.
The Blue Jays said Clase left because of a right knee contusion.
Four batters into the next inning, Straw slammed into the wall and went down while trying to catch Josh Naylor's RBI double.
Naylor put his hands on his head as he looked out at Straw, his former Cleveland teammate, lying prone on the field. The Arizona slugger then walked all the way out to the wall to check on Straw.
Straw eventually got to his feet and walked off the field through an outfield gate. He was replaced by rookie Alan Roden.

Or at least good enough to get him a nice contract on the open market. The good news for Washington is that Robinson's mindset has been clear. He has participated in off-season workouts while playing at a very high level. Advertisement "B-Rob's a guy who has played an incredibly high level," offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury said on the team's website. "I thought early in the year when he was really healthy, he was what we expect him to be, and the focus this offseason has been great. "He knows what this year means to him and can mean to us when he plays at that level." Robinson knows he's sharing a backfield with Austin Ekeler. The two pose an intriguing attack for Washington's ground game and are one of the best duos in the league. Both will be free agents after this season, though. If Robinson or Ekeler want an extension, they must produce even more than last year. Robinson has gotten an early start in that regard. The Washington Commanders' OTAs and minicamp have come and gone, with several new players getting acclimated to their new surroundings. Advertisement One player was All-Pro Deebo Samuel. Coming via a trade from the San Francisco 49ers, Samuel, after a down year by his lofty standards, is ready to remind the rest of the NFL that there is still juice in the tank. And he also reminded head coach Dan Quinn of something as he went about his business on the practice field. "Somewhere along the way, I'd forgotten until [he was] out here how fast he is," Quinn said via the team's official website. Advertisement And it didn't take long for Quinn to see Samuel's speed when he gets going, but also how tough it is going to be for defenders to tackle him. "He was such a difficult person to tackle that you spent so much time, 'How are you going to tackle this person?'" Quinn added. This comes in a face of a video from minicamp that makes it appear that Deebo is sluggish in his running; the team obviously disputes this. Set to be a key offensive piece for coordinator Kliff Kingsbury, Samuel, paired with Terry McLaurin, who is going through a contract standoff, gives Jayden Daniels a nice one-two punch in the passing game. Advertisement However, Deebo, as a runner, is also just as devastating, and it will be interesting to see how he is utilized in training camp as the Commanders ramp up for the new season. Quinn has seen nothing but positive things from his roster this offseason, but perhaps the thing that will stick in Dan's mind is that Deebo is still very much "Deebo."
